I visited this site for the first time on August 12th for one week. My son had arrived three days earlier and asked if we could be close together . He was informed that this could not be, and only when I arrived would I be able to choose my pitch.
He was told that I could not arrive till 12.00pm, however, upon my arrival, my son informed me that new arrivals had been there from 9.00 am. When I arrived at 12. 20 pm, the pitch next to my son had been taken from 9.15 am. How can that be ? When I complained to the staff, they said there was nothing they could do about it and i was to write in and complain.
On the two occasions I had to talk to the staff in the office, I felt that I was always bothering them and they were far too important to waste time with me. The staff need changing !!!!!
Kind regards

(Rant 1) Just spent a week here the thing I find most annoying is the state of the toilet some people and possibly children leave them in. Obviously they don't know how to use a toilet brush and what it's designed for or are just too lazy to use it. One morning I went in to use one and some low life had smeared excretion on the wall. Come on what sort of people do we have in our club these Neanderthals should be banned from our club.
(Rant 2) When we got there on the Sunday the weather was atrocious and the grass pitches were soaking I know this is beyond the control of the wardens but the drainage on our pitch was almost non existent and there were no mor empty pitches so we had to endure it. We felt that the grass pitches were too close together when you got your awning and car positioned it was very tight, could possibly do away with some pitches and widen the rest.
Rants Over.
Rude Staff, Clean Site. There separate staff were rude and oppositional from the moment we arrived without us feeling we had a real welcome. The response was they were busy but we've been to much bigger (non motorhome and caravan sites whereby we have received an expected welcoming check in). Other users of the site also divulged in similar treatment just through basic conversations over setting up and getting your bearings. It was a sour taste at the start of our holiday that we overcome by not speaking to them again! The site is well maintained, the facilities are good, personally love the fact there is no club house however they do rotate bbq's and fish and chip nights etc. There is enough for children to do whilst on site all in one area. The route out is right in front of the play areas not the safest designs. The pool is warm and nicely laid out however disappointing that there are no toilets/showers accessible a little bit of a problem when you have a child needing to go. Plus it does mean you see a lot of people walking around with bathers/towel to the centre shower block (which you can't really politely cut through) not a major deal breaker. There are adult only sessions 10-11:30 but unfortunately the children's shallow pool was also closed for cleaning during this time. It would be beneficial for the pool to be open earlier. The pool is supervised with facilities to purchase goggles/swim aids and refreshments which is good. The pitches are regimented so some are better than others whereby you have space for a wind sheild and bbq but mostly space is restricted so there is very little grass area. We were OK on a corner bit it's luck of the draw there is no facility to book your pitch so if you turn up with friends it's most likely you won't be able to be next to them. A bonus to the whole holiday if you like to eat together/share resources or have children. This is the first CMC I've booked and I had higher hopes and found other neighboring sites more friendly just when checking out their shop. Perhaps go when it's quieter so you have more choice of pitch and staff are less stressed to give customers a friendly welcome.
The site is as popular as its Indian meal equivalent...(a kids dream : playground, tennis, crazy golf and even a outdoor brrrr. Swimming pool, what more could you ask for.....oh just one thing wifi) but magically the site didn't seem busy. The wardens did a great job of maintaining and keeping the site Clean - a great site.
The Only small complaint - about the disgracefully appalling inadequate 1970's style Caravan & Motor Home wifi system....well it didn't work..!
And not to forget the loo's were brilliant - clean and well maintained.
I stayed at this site with two of my grandchildren for two nights. We had a serviced pitch as I wanted hard standing for my Motorhome. I chose one close to the play area and my girls quickly made friends with other children. They also loved the pool and had to be dragged away! Overall the site is excellent and the staff were very helpful. The girls already want to come back again! So I will no doubt be booking again soon.
Visited for 11 nights in August as a family of 4 site very busy but this was not a problem. We were lucky enough to get a hard standing pitch with a view of Looe bay which was lovely. Wardens helpful and site immaculately clean. We will be returning.
Had a week in August, so expected site to be busy. Great site, great staff. We pitched as faraway from the brilliant children's play area as possible, as we had no kids(for first time in 20 years). Quiet pitch with countryside views, lovely. Only problem was gangs of kids on bikes and scooters. Parents, please be more considerate! Site is good for local area, but it is a long walk to town.
We could have had a nightmare! But Kevin and his team were amazing. We are a family of five, including 17 year old boy, 8 year old girl and Buster the dog. The camp is on a hill so some of the grass pitches are not that level, so you may need your blocks. We found out to our cost it can get a bit windy so you will need tie downs.
The nightmare was when our 8 year old fell off her scooter. On presenting ourselves at reception it was suggested we needed to go to Plymouth A&E, being in a motorhome this was a problem. But Kevin the head warden insisted that he took us to hospital and brought us back. This was way beyond anything we could have hoped for. All the staff were so friendly and Kevin and his team are a credit to the club.
Yes we did have problems with the wind and the rain, but that is what it is holidaying in the UK.
And yes, no 4G so the teenager grumbled, The 8 year old had a wonderful time, even getting get well soon cards off her new friends.
But the amazing way Kevin responded just underlined to me reason we say at these sites.
Thank you so much.
Lovely site in a great position. There are downfalls for this site, where we were pitched there was a steep bank to negotiate to get to and from the electric supply and also to get to toilet block etc. One of our neighbours had an accident and had to go to A & E, ended up being on a crutch for the rest of his holiday and I believe is still suffering pain in the leg now (our visit was 17th - 20thbh June). Also another neighbour nearly stumbled down the bank a couple of times and he was only on his pitch. Caravan Club get your act sorted with the access to these electric posts, where is the Health and Safety? Sadly lacking.. Someone is going to have a really bad accident on these pitches.
Arrived on site after 3 hours driving in relentless rain. Funny it stopped as we arrived on site. My first attempt to pitch on grass pitch, which I had requested on a lovely sunny day, went horribly wrong and I had to be rescued by the wardens who very swiftly restored my dignity and moved me to a hardstanding with views over the bay at Looe which could not be seen till the next day because of the mist. Levelling blocks are needed on most pitches.
The park and it`s two shower/toilet blocks were kept immaculate and were a real credit to the wardens. All of the wardens were friendly and helpful and always around keeping site up to scratch. There is a bus stop at the park entrance with buses to Plymouth, Looe, Polperro and liskeard running hourly. We were able to make full use of the buses with our bus concession passes.
There is a Fish and Chip van on site Thursday evening and Pizza van on Sunday. The latter I can recommend as we had eaten out on the Thursday and did not sample their wares. Overall this is a lovely friendly park in a lovely area coming a very close second to our favourite local site at Burford C&M Club. Thank you Wardens for a more than pleasant stay.
