Looe

Just come back from a short three day break at the Looe Club Site and we had a great time. The warden team is excellent, friendly, helpful and informative and the hardstanding pitch we had was good and close to water etc. Site was immaculate and obviously well cared for, some of the grass pitches look like they might be interesting in wet weather as on quite a slope. Simple walk into Looe and if you take the left fork marked town centre when going down the steep path it is a lot less steep then the main path and also takes you into the middle of Looe by the Guildhall. Good coastal walks either side of Looe and an endless selection of pubs and places to eat. All in all a good mini break and an introduction to a new site we will return to (outside of the school holidays!)

'Go to' site

To be honest this site has quickly become our 'go to' location since taking up caravanning last year. We are fortunate that the site is only 25 miles from home and pretty easy to get to so last year we spent 7 nights (2 separate visits) and had a great time. We have tended to avoid to peak season which suits us and so have pretty much picked the exact pitch we want. Facilities are very good, the staff very helpful and the overall experience really good. The location is also great for us as we love Looe and the surrounding coastal villages and being keen walkers this site pretty much ticks all of the boxes. Frankly if the site were a little closer to the town it would get top marks across the board but to be honest its no great hardship if you don't mind a walk down and up to Looe. You can always catch the bus. We will be booking again this year for sure.

Nice Site

We come here every year for the Looe Music Festival. The site has all you need and is well located for walking (about 30 mins downhill) or getting the bus into Looe. Walking back is mainly uphill and not recommended for the unfit. The bus stops outside the site entrance. The weather this September (and much of the 2017 season) wasn’t good and the grass pitches were struggling to cope, many of them unusable. The wardens did a good job of getting motorhomes off water logged pitches. There are limited hard standings and we were able to secure the last one. These are obviously the ideal if you can get one. There’s nothing to dislike about this site so all I can do is recommend it unless it’s been very wet when you might want to check conditions before you book.

Lovely Site but grass pitches a nightmare.

This is a lovely site, the facilities are very clean and the staff were brilliant. The only issue is the grass pitches. We went on the last weekend in September, and true to west country form, they had had a lot of rain. The grass pitches are not great as they are sloping, but they were a quagmire, every van or motorhome using them became stuck and had to be helped off with either mats or a tow, the staff were doing this full time, and they were great at it. Because of it's location, this site be virtually all hard standings, the club needs to invest in these upgrades. I will not visit the site again unless I can get on a hard standing.

Pre music festival stay

Stayed at Looe m & cc for second year running prior to Looe Music Festival for 4 nights then put the motorhome into storage for the duration of the festival great site facilities immaculate with continuous maintenance being carried out on the grounds, everything about the site is to like even in bad weather and all the staff so friendly and being only 2 mile out of Looe with a good bus or taxi service is very good also, there wholemeal bread is to die for so recommend buying a loaf. Good play area for the kids and during summer an outdoor pool to keep cool.

Happy Holiday

Spent two separate weeks holidays this summer with grandchild at site, it was very very busy but the wardens kept the site spotless including the toilet block (we were on grass on the lower field) grandchild loved the pool, playpark and golf. A new friend broke her arm and the wardens went above and beyond taking the parents and child (they had a large motorhome) to hospital, well done. Yes the site was very wet, cannot help the weather. My only negative was during the second stay older children were on the site and the ball park closed at 8.00 pm, in my opinion this is too early (light till 10.00) and they are on holiday, so they had nowhere to occupy themselves and then ran round the site playing hide and seek games, this did not bother us too much, but those with very young children trying to sleep!!! The ballpark could be kept open till later so they can play there and if the caravan club put on their booking page EG PLEASE NOTE SERVICE PITCHES OPPOSITE PLAY PARK, then those on the service pitches would have advance notice. Weighing up the pros and cons, yes would certainly return, both in and out of school holiday time, its a lovely site, very well looked after.

Really good stay

Returning after quite a few years we were pleased to receive a warm welcome and can only say that over 10 nights the wardens couldn't have been more helpful. Scanning some recent reviews we wonder which site some reviewers have been staying at, some seem to believe that the club rules are guidelines that wardens can vary at will. Yes the grass pitches were quite wet but that's not the fault of wardens, but perhaps more of these should be converted to hardstandings if this site is to cope better with inclement weather conditions in the future. Otherwise wardens, thanks for a really good stay, we'll be back.

Abrupt Staff

I have to agree with other reviewers that some of the staff here are unnecessarily abrupt and make you feel that your requests are too much trouble, so much so that it made us feel unwelcome. There were no hard standing pitches available when we arrived and the site was very wet, so much so that our step kept sinking into the grass whatever we tried to use to stabilise it underneath, which became dangerous. When I asked if we could move to a vacant hardstanding pitch the next morning I was basically greeted with contempt. Not acceptable. Notwithstanding this, the site is well located and the facilities are kept to the usual CAMC standards. However, we will not be returning.

Looe 23/08/17 4 nights

Looe itself is a lovely place but found the site a bit cramped and the staff in general not over helpful or friendly . Not a great site for young kids but it does not promise anything else. The dog walk area is poor and permanently damp due to getting no sun at all in the day. Local roads are a nightmare breathed a sigh of relief when we pulled in still in one piece the locals seem to prefer the middle of the road at Mach 1 !. The site is well kept and clean , would we go back ? Sorry no
