noise and unrulie children

we stayed at looe for 6 nights, we thought that we would tour that side of looe, before moving on to perranporth, as soon as we got threw the barriers it was like a hell hole, children riding bikes and scooters all over, not a care that there were cars towing caravans coming. when we finally got pitched children were coming down hill on bikes and scooters, wrong way and taking blind corners fast, its a miracle no child has been killed by car or motorhome. some of the wardens were miserable never spoke or smiled. some people thought it was ok to leave dirty foot prints in showers and not clean them. dogs left to roam. pitches uneven, people having to unsafely level there units. nice location but defo for family's, never again

School holidays

My first thoughts are we have a lot of miserable people using the sites in general. We had a wonderful holiday on this site in peak school holiday season - I have 4 grandchildren and a dog which is why we chose this site in particular, my children played on the play area however I made sure they were home by 8 pm as per the rules, there were some out of hand children left to run wild until late, I stress this is the parenting which needs attention not the wardens. Also a reason why we don’t use service pitches there always in poor location. This is a good site with pool so it’s expected children will be there ,if you want a child free zone go to adult only sites or go outside school holiday’s. We had a hard standing pitch and also had many comments on how well behaved our children were and that they played beautifully, toilet standards are exceptional the same won’t be said for the people using them - wardens are not our maids and we should respect the facilities regardless. Overall a good site in a great location would recommend to everyone, good dog walking area on site and great walks in the area we will definitely return. What’s missing - a place around the pool you can take your dog because I wouldn’t leave the dog on it’s own in my van and I wouldn’t leave the children around the pool on their own which made it a bit difficult and perhaps a toilet for the children near the pool would be ideal.

Noise and more noise

Having stayed at this site I cannot imagine how the club can call it ‘value for money’! We booked a serviced pitch and assumed that this would be in a suitable location for all caravanners and motorhomers could enjoy. ABSOLUTELY wrong, the pitches were directly opposite the children’s play park and the tennis and football courts. Noise carried on until late into the evening and when the football and tennis courts were closed at 8 pm the children and youth’s converged on the play park that stayed open. The slide was used and a drum and the roadway a raceway until 10 pm and beyond. The pitches on the upper side of the site do not meet the required 3m distance and some members could not pitch properly. If we could demand a refund then we would do.

Dog park not caravan park

Firstly i cannot fault the staff they are very friendly and helpful and the area is beautiful. My reasons for not going back are the pitches are far to small you stepped out our awning onto the road not ideal with 3 children. Other family members there caravan was sticking out onto the road. I also could not believe the amount of dogs on this site it felt like i was pitched up at the kennels in our immediate vicinity there was 14 dogs the caravan behind had 4 opp had 2 next to us 2 ect . The dogs were pooing right outside our awning and although they pick it up its still there to be walked in. I just feel there should be a limit or a designated place for people with dogs this really was to much.

Excellent site for families and excellent wardens

We have just returned from 11 nights at this site in peak holiday period. It is lovely to have a Caravan Club site with all the amenities a young family would wish for. The whole warden team we found exceptional. They were friendly and very accommodating, and present, which isn't always the case. The wardens who supervised the swimming pool were excellent with the children, and went out of their way to make it fun for them with competitions and certificates for swimming. Thank you. The site is well located for all that this corner of Cornwall has to offer. We found the bus service very expensive for a short journey into Looe, and it is cheaper to park (which is plentiful) for a family. The service no doubt is convenient for those with free bus passes and serves the area well. The wardens did their best to keep the toilet blocks clean. However, it seems standards are slipping amongst some members who fail to clear up after themselves. This let things down during peak time. We were expecting a toddler pool but were informed it had been filled in last year. The website needs updating as this is misleading. The remaining pool at 1.2m is quite deep for young children, so be aware very close supervision is required. There is also no toilet or changing facility at the pool which is a shame, although if you pitch very closely it may not be an issue. Pitches vary in both size and standard. Some of the grass pitches seem very close together, and the more remote hardstanding pitches on the site are much nicer and away from the facilities if you want relative peace and quiet.

DO NOT BOOK A SERVICED PITCH IF YOU WANT PEACE AND QUIET

The signage and instructions to the site are great and the check in process was quick and easy. The biggest issue we had with the site was that we had booked a service pitch so we could have our own water supply and grey water taken away. However on this site they decided the best place to put the service pitches are right opposite the children's play area which is unsupervised by Caravan Club staff or parents of the children using the facilities. Children were playing and making noisy until 11.30 pm on the 1 night we stayed here and they were so loud you could not watch the TV in the awning and our 2 young children could not sleep due to the noise. We were packed up and ready to leave the site as soon as the site office opened at 9am the following morning. The staff were very helpful and arranged a full refund and booked us on to a different club site.

Generally a lovely site with only 2 flaws

Shouted at when I arrived by a member of staff, when I stopped to read the misleading signage. The site itself is very nice, though some of the pitches are beyond the capability of chocks and ramps to level - one caravan had its legs on three wooden blocks balanced on top of each other, like a game of Jenga. Toilets and shower block lovely and clean, all facilities good, though I don't know why they advertise the crazy golf still - it's not been used for a while and needs a lot of revamping before it can be opened.

Nice week away but should have chosen hard standing pitch

First impression of site was wardens very friendly, site very busy. We were with relatives and we both wanted grass pitches we managed to find 2 opposite each other. However as the time went on people coming and going we realised pitches were very close behind and infront. The rules did not seem to be adhered to that well. people joining windbreaks together, fire pits in the evening! The pool looked lovely but we didnt visit it due to it being so busy. This is definately a site for families. I felt sorry for the wardens though by the state some people left the toilets in. I see alot of moans about dogs but some people are worse than this. We also found to get to the nicer beaches we would have been better on North Coast. If we visited here again we would choose hardstanding as more space and in quieter areas. We stayed for 10 days but chose to.move on for rest of holiday

A Great Holiday Lovely Site

When we arrived the staff were very helpfull and very pleasant. Make sure you bring leveling blocks as some of the pitches need them. Some of the pitches have sea views if you your are lucky to get one. The site very clean and the swimming pool kept at a nice tempture so everybody can enjoy it. A good bass to explore from by car or bus.

A campsite of two halves...

This really is a campsite of two halves, when we entered the park the first half was absolutely packed, very tight pitches, heavily smoking barbecues in ever other pitch ...it was not nice. The second half was much nicer with mostly hard standing pitches, and thankfully we managed to find a pitch just as someone was leaving, otherwise we would have just turned around an left. And everyday there were people wandering around the nice bit asking when people were leaving so the could move away from the not nice half... The pool, kids play park and crazy golf are good, but heaven help anyone with a pitch anywhere near the play park, the noise was something else, until very late at night. And a lot of the pitches were very short and/or heavily sloped, with caravans at the absolute limits of being able to get level ...jockey wheels and corner steadys at full stretch and on blocks, to tow hitches touching the ground, and so on. The parks facilities were good and modern, however given how busy it was the toilet blocks could have done with being cleaned twice an day, not just once. So overall, great location and facilities, but don’t go at peak times if you want any sort of peace and quite, or a pitch you can easily set your caravan up on.
