The site is located a mile or so outside Looe but access is easy albeit the walking routes in to town are very steep downhills, which mean only one thing...lung & calf busting steep uphills. During our week long stay we used the bus once from Looe (£2.60 per adult single) & a taxi (£8)...so options available if you’re not feeling too energetic. Looe is extremely dog friendly with many really good cafes & eateries. The working harbour is bustling & lively. The coastal path walk to Polperro was great & of course the trusty no.72 bus back which stops right outside the site entrance. Back to the site it’s got all the usual club standards on display, plus an outdoor pool. During school holidays this site will undoubtedly be full of families. We would definitely return to this fantastic area of Cornwall.
Lovely Looe
This was our first trip to Looe MCC site in our motorhome. The site itself is beautiful, particularly in April when we visited as the pink flowering cherry trees were in full bloom. The layout is very pleasing with distance views of the sea and surrounding hillsides. Facilities were spotless. If you have a car with you, this is probably one of the nicest sites on the network. Sadly for us, two middle-aged fifty somethings with two also middle-aged dogs and a toddler Grandson, it was just too far away from anywhere. There is a bus service, but only every two hours so not that practical when you want to get out and about. Onsite shop not great but it was the beginning of the season which could be a factor. Site itself though - faultless.
Well kept site
We had a very pleasant 3 night break here before Easter. The site was quiet and peaceful I am not so sure what it would be like when it is full. The shower block was kept clean and tidy with good warm showers. There is a site shop which has a few essentials and we were able to order bread for the morning. The site staff were very helpful especially with details of bus times, the bus stopped outside the site entrance which was very good. The lanes are narrow around so not really suitable for cycling but you can walk from the site to the coastal path. The pheasants on site were quite noisy but not too bad, mostly they kept out of your way.
Quiet Out of Season
We stayed in March. Nice, quiet site out of season. Staff very friendly & helpful about bus routes & walks. Follow the directions in the book as some roads are very narrow. There is a bus-stop outside. It took about 40 mins to walk into Looe but we got the bus back as it's a steep climb - £2 per person single. The Coddy Shack is a nice chippy/restaurant & a 10min walk on grass paths & pavements. Take a torch at night. Lovely food but not cheap. We didn't use our bikes as the roads were narrow & steep.
St. Martins by Looe
This site is perfectly placed for Looe on foot, Millendreath beach on foot and other local venues. It is a good cycling base. The SW coastal Path is close. The site is large and much bigger than the photograph shows. The staff have a wealth of local knowledge, including about how to cope with extreme weather!!
We went on the day it opened and, of course, it was not busy. It soon started to be popular and all was good.
This is the second club site we have used and we are equally as impressed.
Highly recommended.
First visit but certainly not our last one!
We stayed at this site overnight after visiting Mount Edgcumbe. As it was a fine weekend we were surprised how few pitches were occupied - the grass pitches were all closed but there was a good choice of hardstanding pitches available to us. The wardens were friendly and helpful, the facilities block was clean and well equipped and the site was so peaceful. It is a large site with lots of facilities for children, so not somewhere we would visit in school holidays but definitely a site to return to.

Enjoyable stay at Looe Bay
My Wife and I had a relaxing 15 day break at Looe Bay after a busy year, we found the site was excellent, very friendly staff and the facilities met our requirements.
After reading some of the reviews of this site I can say we had no experience of noise or disturbance or unruly children. I did have conversations with other members whilst on holiday and understand there were some problems at the top of the site with power and the shower-block. I can understand the frustration if there were such problems.
Having toured as a child for many years with my parents I used to look forward to the freedom that caravanning brings, its a rich experience for children to travel around various parts of the country experiencing the joys the United Kingdom has to offer. In my latter years I now have the pleasure of owning a caravan, I am a parent and also have many nieces and nephews so I understand the importance of managing play, ensuring children have freedom but also act respectfully and courteously to other members.
I think members need to mindful that children need freedom, play is a vital part of a child's development. It appears from some of the reviews that the balance was not quite right between solitude seekers and those enjoying family holidays. When seeking sites I normally seek quieter sites, either Club Sites or other independent sites as my Daughter is now older and independent so our focus is on solitude and relaxation.
Maybe there is a bit more the club can do to indicate sites that are better for solitude and quiet relaxation or vice versa be clearer that a site is more family oriented.
To be fair the logos on the caravan club site do indicate there is a play area, paddling pool and baby changing facilities so is fairly clear that it is a family orientated site. In high season I would read that as very busy with children on summer holidays enjoying freedom and children developing via play and rich learning experiences.
happy days 2018
Loveley relaxing holiday. The site managers were very pleasant and helpful and the site and facilities generally was very good. Plenty of things to do and see or just chill - out.
thanks to all the staff

Why close a facilities block when the site is busy!?
First visit to this site on 10th September 2018
Easy to find and generally speaking an excellent location especially for motor caravaners who intend to use public transport as the regular bus service from the site entrance was excellent.
Disappointed to hear when we arrived that the upper toilet/,shower block and swimming pool had shut two days earlier even though a) the site was busy and b) the pool was advertised as not shutting until mid September.
I understand that a number of people expressed their disappointment about this and the Pool did in fact open up again for another week as a result. Great ...as the pool was warm and a lovely ! However the showers did not.
The lower site pitches were all full and there were over 40 pitches being used at times on the top site so clearly this impacted on the number of people who were using the lower site showers etc which were now a considerable distance for many of those of us on the top site.
The washing up area, the CDP and one unisex toilet were opened on the top block and I believe the disabled room was available for those who needed it and had a key but surely with so many pitches in use some of the toilets and showers should and could have been made available.
The impression given was that after the first week in September the top block was shutting regardless as that was site policy.
Strange as no doubt all those on top site pitches had paid the same
On the plus side of things the site was very clean and tidy and although some of the grass pitches needed levellers this was made clear in the site information

17 night visit.
Hi arrived on the 10th August for a 17 night stay, first thing to note is always follow the handbook direction and not your Sat nav as you will find out when driving solo. The site was at maximum when we booked in ,the wardens were excellent in accomodating large outfits with bigger pitches keeping everyone happy.the site is spilt into two we were pitched in the lower section which has its own toilet block.the pool is great and well marsheld by the wardens the only down side it does really need its own toilet/shower area.plenty to see and do around looe we used the local beach many times and just wished there was a wetsuit wash on site ,there was plenty of wetsuits hanging on lines around and so I guess a wash would be well used.a special mention to the wardens who were all very approachable and hard working in keeping a very busy sitebticking over thanks guys it is appriecated.
