The caravan site was well located The walk into Chirk Castle was pleasant and the walk along the canal southward was level excellent for walking your Dog.
The only down side to our visit was the road surface leading you to the reception. It had large potholes where the cars front wheel dropped into causing an almighty thud.
Another Great Stay
Another lovely stay at this site. Only 50 minutes from home makes this site ideal for us.
Set in the Woodlands generous size pitches lovely wardens and great walks and cycling, do as much or as little here.
As mentioned by others the toilet block is in need of refurbishment it's old and tired but always clean.Come on caravan club spend some money!
The noise from the nearby factory was noticeble this visit don't know if the wind was just blowing the right way The Indian food down the road is fab and well worth a visit.
Good site for walking
We spent 4 nights on the site recently. We like the site because there is enjoyable walking from the site. The grounds of Chirk Castle are next to the site. We walked to the village and over Chirk Aquaduct and back through the tunnel.(dark and long) Another walk to the Pontcysyllte aquaduct along the Llangollen canal via the shorter Whitehouse tunnel. Another day we took the motorhome to Trevor. There is a free parking area for coaches and motorhomes near the Aquaduct and Trevor basin. From there it is a pleasant and easy walk to Llangollen. The site is very pretty and in a good location but there is some noise and smell from the nearby factories day and night. The toilet block is hardly big enough when the site is busy and really is in need of refurbishment.

Needs an upgrade to toilet facilities
This site is lovely but needs some TLC. The toilet and shower facilities are out of date and need a total refurbishment. As this site is open all year it should be a 'flagship' site. There have been some loose promises to update but sadly I cannot see this happening. There is talk of developing the field into a Rally field, this would further impact on the already limited and out of date facilities.

Lovely site, Looking forward to going back again soon.
We stayed on this site for the weekend.
We went for a walk into the town and had a Indian meal at the local restaurant, which was only 15 minutes walk away.
Friendly wardens and lovely site.
The shower block was spotless, but it does need updating. Nice size pitches. There is a Canal, viaduct and tunnel near by which is nice for a good walk.
Lovely Site
We have stayed on this little site twice now and have got another three visits booked.
Nestled away in a woodland setting it's tranquil, ideal for relaxation but handy enough for walking and cycling.
The facilities are a little dated but always clean I believe there are plans for future refurbishment.
Wardens are lovely and always busy around the site.
A very worthwhile site to visit.
One of our favourite sites
Enjoyed 5 nights at Lady Margaret's, friendly welcome from the wardens, easy to get to, and lots of places to visit. Enjoyed meals at The Poachers Pocket which is close by and reasonable price. Shower block nice and clean but desperate for a refurb. Speeding on club sites is becoming a problem but I don't know what else wardens can do, there are enough warnings.
Lovely site
Very nice site we had Christmas and new year wardens most helpful weather not very good but still enjoined our stay so much so we booked to go back at Easter good for walking and shops close by our dog Alfie loved it Paul pat Jenkinson from Rugeley staffs
Fabulous wardens who go 'above and beyond'
Our first time at this site, and hopefully not our last.
Wardens were excellent and very welcoming. We had a problem with our heating and the wardens were brilliantly helpful. This was particularly appreciated as we have two small children. It hardly stopped raining over our four night stay, but this did not dampen the spirits of the wardens, who in the face of adversity (their lovely decorated marquee fell victim to the storms) hosted a cosy party in the reception instead.
As another reviewer has said, the thai takeaway in Chirk is very good and the Tandoori on the corner has rave reviews on TripAdvisor, although we didn't get the chance to try it.
There is a great walk for kids (and big kids) straight from the site, which takes in the aqueduct and a 430m long spooky canal tunnel (take a torch!!). Our 21mth old managed to walk all the way.
Quick directions... Walk left out of the site, along the nature track with the sign 'cafe' (not the Welsh 'caffi', which takes you to the right - not that we saw a cafe or a caffi), cross the road at the end, turn left, then right where aqueduct is signed. Get to the canal. Aqueduct to the left, tunnel to the right. If you go through the spooky tunnel, then turn immediately right, up the bank, and you are back on the road to the site.
The play area for children is a wooden fort, and you can pitch near to it so the kids can run to and from. However, when we were there, play was rather limited as the ground was very soggy due to the rainfall.
Steam railway at Llangollen a short drive away.
Loads to do in the area - we didn't make it to Chirk Castle (on our doorstep!) as time flew. Need to go back!
As for updating the wash blocks, they seemed fine to me - clean and warm. Some places have posher ones, but I liked them.

New Year!
Many thanks to Les and Maria, very helpful wardens and we had a good time with our children on New Year's Eve in reception. Shame the party tent blew down the day before. Nice site with great walks. Yes the toilet blocks need an update but they were very clean and tidy. Looking forward to visiting again in 2016. There is a great Thai food takeaway in Chirk.
