upgrading

Think it's time to upgrade parts of the site , some areas are looking tired, but the wardens work hard to keep it up to standards ,never stopping a credit to them, perhaps its because its open all year

Very helpful wardens

Just returned from a 5 night stay at this beautiful and peaceful site. It is perfect for dogs with plenty of walks on and off site. Our two Irish setters loved it.  Sitting outside our van listening to the birdsong and watching a tree creeper and mistle thrush was a delight. One evening we were entertained by a squirrel building his Drey! Unfortunately our 12 volt system failed during our stay but the very helpful friendly wardens loaned us a battery charger and saved the day. A lovely clean site. A credit to the wardens. Look forward to coming back.

One of the best ever!

We had 4 nights here. A stunningly beautiful site, lovely wardens. Toilet block a little jaded but clean :) One of the best sites we have stayed on. Lots to do nearby. Unfortunately our grass pitch was not level which was awful in the van but the sun was shining so we only slept in it :) We will definitely be going again :)

Bank Holiday Visit

Our first visit to this site and our first attempt at caravanning with our dog. The site was very busy, due to it being Bank holiday weekend, but it still felt clean, calm and very relaxing. Daughter was disappointed to find the castle playground not in use however made plenty of friends to play with and liked making use of the mini crazy golf course! Fantastic access to dog friendly walks and a big, open field for children and dogs. Although toilet/shower block is somewhat dated it is kept spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff, who were welcoming and chatty to children too. Wild rabbits everywhere! Close to Chirk Aqueduct and Llangollen canal. Had a fantastic walk along canal (where daughter spotted a real-life hobbit hole) followed by a nice lunch at The Poacher's (dog friendly - bowl of water provided) and playground at pub was great. All in all it's now on our list of 'To go back to campsites'. Dog agrees!

first visit

This was our first visit to this site and we were not disappointed. Excelent for walking and peace and quiet. This was the worse site we have been too where other members constantly cut through the pitches, even the hard standings without a thought for the privacy of other members. The extra showers were closed for two seperate days for no apparent reason. One on Friday all day and all night when the site was full.

Great site

Just had a 3 night stay on this site, loved all the rabbits, squirrels and birds and all the trees in Primrose Dell where we pitched.  Great walks from the site for our dogs including along the beautiful canal.  Close to Chirk castle and grounds.  Very friendly welcoming staff.  We loved it, one of our favourites.  No children so can't answer 'good for families' question.

Parked in a woods !

We visited Lady Margarets site on 26th April and had an excellent visit,we had no complaints at all, the potholes that some people complain about where not as bad as some we have encountered ! we only stayed for one night as we where on a trial with our new campervan, it was a very cold  frosty night ,but we where nice and cosy, the hot showers soon warmed us up, we loved all the rabbits and squirrels scampering around in the Primrose Dell..the staff where very friendly and made us feel welcome, we shall definitely visit again .many thanks

Really enjoyed our stay

We stayed here 22-24 April.  We only live in Shropshire so this place is not far but it has great access to some great places in North Wales. Staff at the site were friendly and helpful which always helps. The site is lovely and clean and seemed well organised. The reason for not giving 5 stars was its proximity to an industrial estate and you could hear and see the chimney from one of the units. Admittedly it was not loud but we were conscious of a humming in the background. Otherwise a lovely experience, easy to get to, good access to other places and nice welcome. Worth a visit to Pystyll Rhaedr waterfall - beautiful

Three days of peace and relaxation

The reviews about this park are all correct, it is a little tired and needs some TLC, there are potholes on the road in (similar to other sites we have visited) but all this is of no importance when you consider the amazing position within reach of the lovely village of Chirk (great local shops including two lovely gift shops), fabulous walks and cycle routes, the Llangollen canal and great viaducts, great wildlife and views within a peaceful setting.  Yes there is a factory nearby, but this does not affect the site or nearby beauty spots but does give local employment. The wardens are extremely helpful and do their best to find you the type of pitch you want but this is a popular site and not always possible. In addition we walked into Chirk and had an amazing lunch with friends at the Hand Hotel, good service,  not overpriced and good food. I have to say we were extremely lucky in that we had probably the best and warmest 3 days that we have had this April and that probably helped!  But, we will be back, a great site.
