Reasonable site

visited in july 2016.good site well kept by wardens. facilities as clean as can be desperately needing refurbishing. NOTE TO CARAVAN CLUB please supply all sites with black mould cleaning fluids, as mould is a health hazard for us asthmatics.site is not child friendly no playground just a broken wooden castle all taped up not in use.

A gem

This is a lovely site, well maintained, well laid out and well run by helpful and friendly staff. The site is very peaceful. I've read reviews about the noisy nearby factory -really you would have to be very fussy and over the top to let this even be a slight issue. Yes, there is a factory, a small distance away, which you can not see from the site. Its a cadbury factory, and the 'pollution' from it is just steam venting and comes nowhere near the site - it simply disperses in the air as it leave the vents! Some people are way to dramatic. The noise is like a hairdryer from a mile away IE its barley noticeable. The site itself is very pretty, pleanty of walk on site through woods, walks nearby along the canal / aqueduct and through the tunnel. Chirk castle is fab and is just a walk away. Would 100% return.

nice site but caravan mentality heavy!!

First time on this site and very impressed!! I have great hearing but never heard the 'nearby factory' or smelt any pollution. Wardens very helpful and welcoming, happy to chat and give advice for cycling and places to visit. We cycled to Llangollen over the aquaduct, glorious!! The nearby station gives access to Chester and Shrewsbury. Will return as we didn't have time to do the castle or cycle to Ellesmere. My only comment- i do think that one or two caravanners should lighten up and live a little!!

sap

Its a shame that the CC do not tell you the factory noise is 24/7. (I should have read all the site reviews). The site is nice and kept clean. My main complaint is that the only couple of pitches available where under trees. We came home last weekend and will be spending this weekend removing sap from the car, caravan and awning. Manufactures say not to pitch under trees so why do the CC put hard standings under them. Would not book to go there again in case it happened again

Trying to depart

We last visited  this site two years ago and returned for a weekend break recently and yes it's still a very nice site . I have noticed though as with other sites we have visited recently that the club are not to quick at sorting out  broken items i.e the toilet annex boiler at Lady  Margaret's  and the children's play castle. When we tried to leave Sunday the early arrivals were blocking the exit to the site - very annoying ! Definitely need to stagger the  departure and arrival times here .

Rural and quiet.

Only stayed two nights on this site, curtailed due to a pressing grandsons graduation ceremony in Truro. The site is on various levels, some amid trees and some in the open. This seems to be a sheltered site. Site well maintained as usual and a big smiley welcome on arrival from the wardens. The closest 'supermarket' is Stans, a Nisa store in St Martins on the Ellesmere road and had everything you could want in food, drink and hardware...a real gem. The main reason for our visit was Chirk Castle and really well worth a visit and especially the gardens that are superbly maintained by just 3 full time gardeners and about 10 volunteers. The castle is also well worth a visit too.

Lovely wardens - shame about the facilities

The location of this site is lovely, however the facilities are tired and as a previous reviewer noted there are lots of apology signs. Considering the boiler needed mending in June - they are still waiting for parts now - mid July!! As a result the annex of the toilet block is closed and this puts strain on the main block. The play area is spoilt by being roped off - not that we needed it - but with school holidays coming up there will be disappointed children!  These issues are purely down to the Caravan Club who clearly can't get a boiler replaced or maintenance issues sorted!! The wardens are lovely, friendly and probably having to put up with complaints about the site? With many pitches under trees - it is not ideal in wet conditions but we did not experience any noise issues that the previous reviewer noted.

Nice site, shame about the noise!

This was our first visit to LMP and we loved it, so let's get the bad bit out of the way first! They tell you on the booking form that you may experience noise from the nearby factories, but what they don't make clear is that it seems to be 24/7! A background thrumming which you just can't seem to escape from. Irritating if you need to sleep with the windows open, but what must it be like for folk living in the area and having to put up with it permanently? OK, enough with the complaints .... everything else about the site is great. The much criticised approach road has been resurfaced. There's a good choice of grass or HS pitches, some modern and wide, others rather narrow but what they lack in width they make up for in length. We were on one of these, pitch 70, down near the rally field and in a good position for whatever evening sun Wales can offer. OK, the toilet/shower block is rather dated but perfectly adequate and there was no problem with water pressure when I used the showers. The site is within easy walking distance of Chirk Castle (uphill though!) and the canal towpath down by Chick Tunnel and aqueduct. A longer walk ( about an hour and a half each way) will take you to the magnificent aqueduct at Pontcysllte. There are a number of eateries down in Chirk village but as we were only here for 4 nights we didn't get to use any of them, but the village is an easy 10 minute walk. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at LMP. There's plenty to do in the area - we needed more time really; still what a good excuse for a return visit!

(Ought to make it clear the 3 rating for family friendliness might cause a few raised eyebrows, but then we were there as a couple, not a family!)

Plethora of Out of Order Notices

A beautiful site, particularly the area away from the wooded pitches. There are however many very small pitches in one area of the site.  These pitches are so tight that by necessity, cars have to be parked in front of the van on a narrow road making the area unsightly & cluttered. The main problem was the plethora of notices drawing attention to the items /areas out of use / out of action.  For instance the washing machine was out of action, the tumble drier was out of action, the exit barrier was out of action, the children's play area was cordoned off as out of action, one of the boilers was out of action necessitating a shower & toilet block being taken out of use. The hair drier in the ladies toilet was barely working and as for the water pressure in the showers, this was so low that at times it was difficult to get wet!! It would appear, from the dates on the notices, that most, if not all, of these items have been out of action for some weeks. What a shame because the site is beautiful and the grounds well maintained. What a pity the club do not respond to these reviews. Before I am told to notify the club direct by email, I have indeed done so.  Their email must also be out of action because no response to my email was forthcoming.  A lovely site slowly going down the pan for lack of attention.
