Few days in a dry October

We first visited the site twenty years ago with our children and have visited on a number of occasions since now with a Labrador.  It's a good site which has easy access to a range of attractions nearby. Really enjoy the walks around Chirk and up to the castle. Great for children and for those of us with dogs. There is a bit of noise from the Kronospan factory and it is pretty noticeable but not that bad.  TV signal is variable and really needs a booster system.   Toilet block looks rather tired and would benefit from a major revamp. I approached from the south and followed the old A5 which was fine. You do get queues on the A5 roundabouts so be prepared for a few queues. A good site.

Brief stay while fishing

This is a great location with a lot to do in and around this area.   My own interest is fly fishing and the river Dee and still water at Chirk are both easily accessible as are some other very good waters.  Perhaps more importantly the wardens were very helpful in helping me extend my stay by an extra night despite a lot of pressure on available pitches.  I will most certainly be back, sometimes with fishing buddies and sometimes with family members.

Another Lovely Stay

This was our second visit to Lady Margaret's and once again we really enjoyed our stay. Our favourite spot is Primrose Dell just past the information hut. The site is very well organised with helpful friendly wardens and the toilet block as clean as it possibly can be, although rather dated now. We understand that this is due for refurbishment any day! We love the peace and quiet of the site but also its proximity to Chirk itself - 15 minute walk. In fact we walked everywhere from the site including the aquaduct (fabulous scenery) and an 8.5 mile round trip along the canal where we found a hotel for coffee and a pub for lunch a little later on - Ideal. Next to the site and a half an hour walk is Chirk Castle. An impressive site with stunning views and the usual coffee shop that we have come to know so well as members of the National Trust. All in all, if you like walking and having places to walk to without using your vehicle, combined with peace and quiet, you will very much love it here and we would highly recommend it.

COULDNT ASK FOR MORE

Stayed here for 5 nights , loved the location. Lots of lovely walks from the site and lots of places of interest within a short drive away. I've looked at some other reviews and can't entirely agree. Yes parts of the toilet block may need a lick of paint but it's still light years ahead of some of the facilities we have faced on non club sites. The internet connection is good but bear in mind if you decide to check your emails at a busy time ( say between 5 & 7pm ) it will slow down , however early morning and late at night it runs fine. TV coverage was fine in spite of the fact that our caravan has a 'bee sting' TV aerial which always gives problems in weak signal areas. Our second visit here but definitely not our last.

An excellent peaceful site

We recently spent 5 nights here and pitched amongst the trees in the upper part of the site (despite some reviews mentioning that noise from a nearby factory was more noticeable in this part of the site).  Yes, there were times when you could hear a few distant sounds and no, it wasn't an issue as it was only audible for a short while while the air was very still).  The facilities were all that we required and were warm and spotlessly clean.  The wardens kept a low profile and Just got on with the job of running an excellent site.  Despite other reviewers comments we were able to receive a generous number of TV stations as well as reasonable mobile phone coverage and 3G internet, so it clearly depends on where about on the site you are.  We will definately return to this one in the near future.

Lovely location

Everything is good about this site, especially the location, except that the toilet block could do with a refresh (although it is functional and warm) and there is no signal for anything. The latter is beyond the site's control and I appreciated not being pestered by phone calls and emails. The nearby factory makes a humming noise but is not bad and there was a smell of chocolate coming from the chimneys (have had worse.) Will put the site on the 'to return' list.

Make Over Needed

The site is very well located and in an area of many interesting attractions not least being the canal and its aqueducts. However the site is now dated and in great need of a make over. The toilet block is of an age although as ever, scrupulously clean and warm. During the darker months the pathway lighting leaves a lot to be desired. The light near to our pitch was not working and even though reported remained so throughout our 5 night stay. TV reception without either a satellite dish or expensive booster aerial is very poor or as we found out, none existent.

Fantastic site excellent wardens first visit here and won't be our last. The only thing I will say is that the children's play area needs doing and toilet block needs upgrading other than that we has had a lovely stay

Lovely area

Visited this site for 9 nights in August when it was very busy. We will most certainly visit again, but out of the school holiday season. A good site with very helpful and pleasant staff. Grounds and toilet/shower block kept very clean and tidy, but the latter are in great need of refurbishment and soon - they are very old fashioned, so come on Caravan club get it sorted please! Lovely 15 minute walk into the small town to a good butchers and bakers shops and to very nice pubs with really good food. Several of the well known supermarkets are at Oswestry, not far by car. Some good walks by the canal near the site, over the acquaduct which is very high and not for the faint hearted; the path along the side of the canal is good. Chirk castle is next to the site and well work a visit. Shropshire only 5 miles over the Welsh/English boarder is also worth a visit - some very pretty countryside in both Wrexham and Shropshire.
