First trip out

Stayed at this local site for 2 nights only. This was our first outing in our new caravan, so that we could familiarise ourselves with all the various gadgets etc. The Warden was extremely polite and welcoming, and we found the facilities to be of a good standard. The toilets were and showers were kept in a clean condition. The site was busy for the time of year and the people we met were all very friendly. Overall, we enjoyed our short stay and would like to return some day

Short stay

Only had 2 nights, first night was quiet the second we could hear the factory even though it was raining quite hard on the van roof. T.V. reception was good using the built in areal on the van. Facilities are there but need updating.Surrounding area full of places to see. Walking distance pubs i would not recommend but the village spar has everything you need.

welsh half term break

Hi all, just back from the welsh half term brwak where we had five nights at chirk, and what a great surprise this site was a great base for exploring the local area where a cycle ride or walk along the canel is a must. Chirk castle is another attraction on the door step which is a mile and half walk from the park with great views over the area.as for the site facilities yes they are looking a bit tired but with all sites that are open year long with heavy useage this is going to happen ,one thing that may help is for the club to put in extra paths to access the toilet block so members dont carry in any mud which would help the wardens who work so hard trying to keep on top of this site.a special mention to the wardens for all their hard work clearing up after storm doris thank you

First time out.

It was our first trip out in our new caravan, after having had a 15 year break. We chose Lady Margarets for the location and we where not disappointed, perfect for us and the dogs. The site and all it's facilities where very clean and well maintained, and the wardens where polite and helpful. We would recommend this site and will definitely have another visit in the future.

Lovely Site.......But Version Two

This is my second attempt at submitting a review on this site, I was timed out the lastime so you can see the length of my review. Firstly I always make a point of submitting honest reviews without any bias, secondly prior to this review I had not read the one previously submitted by Knowbury another club member. I will summarize this review as follows ; A the time of my visit I was not aware I would be visiting a BMX cycle track, the children use the site for racing around or learning to ride a bike not good when you have owners parking vans etc let alone young children (far too young) to be riding a bike unsupervised,at least they didn't hit my van but came close to others. The toilets, I have never seen signs in each cubicle about leaving the toilet clean I just thought this was normal hygiene however the following morning when I returned I soon found out why signs were displayed. ( I wont explain) as for the ladies my wife said toilet paper and sanitary towels were everywhere. When not competing in the tour de france the children were climbing the trees so much so our neighbour complained. The neighbour on our other side a seasoned visitor to this site said and I quote "Its gone downhill" The visitors book contained scrawl where some little angel had decided to do there best to complete it in one. The site itself is great and the surrounding area beautiful but wardens come on do some practical wardening, as for the members who allow their children to operate like this I sincerely feel that you should be ashamed. Will I be returning, well there would have to be some fundamental changes first.

Lovely site . . . but

This is a lovely site in a very beautiful area, and we have visited on a number of occasions. There are stunning walks and fascinating artefacts from the industrial revolution - plus Chirk Castle and grounds. The site staff are very pleasant and helpful. The toilet block is looking a bit tired, though the staff do a valiant job in keeping it clean (this despite the efforts of some members who insist on leaving the WCs in a quite disgusting state – not helped by the paucity of water supposed to flush them). The showers are rather poor with very low pressure. There appear to be some outstanding odd jobs around the site (e.g. a stand pipe needs re-fixing, a notice board is rotting). The noise from local factories (the nearest is 0.3 miles away as the crow flies) can be intrusive, especially if there’s a NE wind and, unless you absolutely adore cocoa/chocolate, the smell can be a bit off-putting. I’m afraid to say that, like far too many other sites, the 5mph speed limited is very widely disregarded, in some cases by a large margin. There are a few ‘sleeping policemen’ but far too few to deter those who ignore the limited. The Club needs to be far more assertive in enforcing this rule. The rubbish skips provided for waste and recycling have heavy lids that open at a height of (from memory) about 1.2 meters. I fear these might to too high and heavy for some members. There is a children’s play area but it is more limited than at some other sites. TV reception was OK on caravan's aerial (with occasion pixelation). WIFI not too bad, but slow when site was busy.

Lovely overnight stay

Having collected our first ever caravan a couple of weeks ago we were keen to try it out! Lady Margaret's is about an hour away for us and we thought an overnight stay would be sensible for our first trip. We'd never been to chirk or indeed a caravan club site. I was slightly worried that caravanning in February we may be the only caravan on the site but no it was surprisingly busy! The weather was not pleasant, it was trying to snow but the toilet block was very warm and clean. The site was located by chick castle which we walked around. We weren't sure whether we would get a tv reception as the description states booster may be required but we had no problem. Canal and viaduct close by. Very impressed with site and the town and will be returning in the better weather!

Beautiful Campsite

We love this site. The setting is stunning and it's within easy walking distance (about 10 mins) of the village of Chirk which has a good bakery and a brilliant vegetable shop...plus an excellent co-op supermarket. Just along the road from the campsite is the LLangollan canal which is stunning too and offers wonderful walking....and, of course, the site is next door to Chirk castle. You can get a bus from just up the road at the station to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which is a World Heritage Site and an amazing structure taking the canal over the river Dee..there's an excellent pub there which has delicious food and you can take a boat trip across the aqueduct. We walked back from the Aqueduct it took about an hour of meandering. The wardens at this site are most friendly and helpful. The site is kept in immaculate condition. Fortunately for us we live only a couple of hours away so we can tootle off there for a visit when the mood takes us....we are very lucky as it's probably one of the best sites the CC has.

New Year 2017

Lady Margaret's Park is an excellent place to stay at anytime of year. The proximity to Chirk Castle, local shops, canal walks not to mention a little further afield Wrexham, Chester, Shrewsbury and of course welsh coast. Pleasant site pitches nicely spaced with all the usual faclities. We've been several times and will return again.

Great site

We stay here often as it's the closest site to our daughter and family. The wardens have always been more than helpful and it's always clean and tidy even in poor weather. There might be a little bit of noise from the Kronospan factory if you are in Primrose dell but other than that it's really peaceful
