Lovely overnight stay

Having collected our first ever caravan a couple of weeks ago we were keen to try it out! Lady Margaret's is about an hour away for us and we thought an overnight stay would be sensible for our first trip. We'd never been to chirk or indeed a caravan club site. I was slightly worried that caravanning in February we may be the only caravan on the site but no it was surprisingly busy! The weather was not pleasant, it was trying to snow but the toilet block was very warm and clean. The site was located by chick castle which we walked around. We weren't sure whether we would get a tv reception as the description states booster may be required but we had no problem. Canal and viaduct close by. Very impressed with site and the town and will be returning in the better weather!

Beautiful Campsite

We love this site. The setting is stunning and it's within easy walking distance (about 10 mins) of the village of Chirk which has a good bakery and a brilliant vegetable shop...plus an excellent co-op supermarket. Just along the road from the campsite is the LLangollan canal which is stunning too and offers wonderful walking....and, of course, the site is next door to Chirk castle. You can get a bus from just up the road at the station to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which is a World Heritage Site and an amazing structure taking the canal over the river Dee..there's an excellent pub there which has delicious food and you can take a boat trip across the aqueduct. We walked back from the Aqueduct it took about an hour of meandering. The wardens at this site are most friendly and helpful. The site is kept in immaculate condition. Fortunately for us we live only a couple of hours away so we can tootle off there for a visit when the mood takes us....we are very lucky as it's probably one of the best sites the CC has.

New Year 2017

Lady Margaret's Park is an excellent place to stay at anytime of year. The proximity to Chirk Castle, local shops, canal walks not to mention a little further afield Wrexham, Chester, Shrewsbury and of course welsh coast. Pleasant site pitches nicely spaced with all the usual faclities. We've been several times and will return again.

Great site

We stay here often as it's the closest site to our daughter and family. The wardens have always been more than helpful and it's always clean and tidy even in poor weather. There might be a little bit of noise from the Kronospan factory if you are in Primrose dell but other than that it's really peaceful

Lovely Site

We stayed here for the first time at New Year & thoroughly enjoyed it. Wardens were lovely & friendly & organised a little get together on NY Eve in the reception. Although the toilet block is dated it was spotlessly clean. The village of Chirk is a 15min walk with a couple of pubs (both dog friendly) a few cafes & take away outlets & a good well stocked Spar shop. The walks along the canal were nice especially crossing Chirk Aquaduct. If you walk the aquaduct way about 2miles along the canal path you come to a lovely pub called the Poachers Pocket which in the summer will be nice to sit outside & watch the boats go by. In previous reviews there has been the mention of the noise from the nearby factory, we can honestly say don't let it put you off. We stayed for 3 nights & only heard it from the final night which we think was due to change of wind direction & didn't seem that bad. Well put it this way, we are returning again in June.

Good base for exploring the area

Lovely location, with a mix of pitches ( some grass and some hard standing ) to suit most families, some in shady tree-lined areas, whilst others are in the open. Facilities are a little dated but very clean. Wardens are always helpful and have suggestions of places to visit. Ideal centre for exploring Chester, wrexham, Llangollen and the surrounding countryside. Plenty of walking opportunities in the vicinity, with or without dogs.

Great Site, Great Location

My wife an I visited this site 8.9.10 December with the aim of cycling along the canal path to Llangollen. Having never visited this site before was not to sure of what o expect. Well, warden was extremely helpful and was more than happy to assist us with all our queries. Site itself is set in beautiful woods with wildlife in the shape of rabbits and squirrels everywhere. Like all sites visited to date, the shower block was Clean and Warm which made both my wife and I extremely happy. Would I recommend this site, YES.

December visit

We are regular visitors but never so late in the season. But there was a gap in the demand for childminding our grandchildren so we gave it a go and travelled to Chirk on a very frosty day. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and we were cosy in our small motorhome and I slept like a log. The fir trees had turned a beautiful golden colour but it was perhaps a mistake to park in Bluebell Dell this time as the trees were shedding needles and we are still finding them now we are home! We enjoyed our walks with the dogs and visits to nearby towns. Sainsburys Wrexham was still the best place to top up our diesel. A lovely break where we relaxed and recharged our batteries.

Old fogies on tour

We visited this site at the end of November when it was very cold but otherwise fine weather, with very clear night skies so lots of stars. The site was quiet, all be it with a little background noise from the local factory, but staff were busy keeping it clean, making sure taps were not frozen etc. There were plenty of animals and birds about. It was very nice to have lashings of hot water, and a well heated shower block. The walks allong the canal path were very enjoyable, with pubs offering good food in both directions. We were only there for a few days to check it out, but will definitely return. One point for the staff to consider might be that closing the toilets between 10.30 and 12.00 with no alternative arrangements may catch some people out as it were (no not us!!!).

A lovely site

We stayed here in mid November, it's a very peaceful site with very helpful wardens and clean facilities. We had fun siting our van to use the satellite dome but managed to find a spot free of the trees. We enjoyed visiting Chirk Castle - if you're fairly mobile you can use the footpaths uphill, otherwise there's a large carpark. Check opening times in the winter as they only seem to open at weekends then. The village has a range of small shops and facilities, including a very nice cafe near the aqueduct and tunnel. We took a walk along the canal to the Pontcysyllte aqueduct, a round trip of about 7-8 miles and we had lunch at the pub in Trevor. We were really lucky to be offered a ride on a canal boat, the section over the aqueduct was amazing with a sheer drop. If you are able to drive out for the day this is an ideal campsite for a longer stay.
