Arrived on site Tuesday 11th May 2017 first impressions very good reception from the wardens excellent however when trying to use the main block showers at 6-30am all that came through was a dribble.
When speaking to other members at this time i established that the showers had been very intermittent for the week previous and still had not been fixed. This is not up to club standards and as a retired warden in my opinion this should have been resolved within no more than 24 hours of the first members complaint.
welsh motorhomers
just like to reiterate what has already been said about the site, fabulous location, easy to get to, brilliant, friendly wardens, every where spotless, play area should be sorted in time for school holidays, SHOWERS want sorting yesterday because they let down an excellent site and I think the wardens deserve better support than to be placed in the firing line for this club failure

Appalling showers
What a beautiful site, fantastic location for walking from and many more breathtaking walks within short car journeys. However, the site was full and the showers were on total meltdown. No water coming out of shower head or you get a flimsy flow, wet & shampoo your hair and the water goes off! Your now starkers, with shampoo sliding down your face desperate for the water to come back on....... You just have to wait and hope someone somewhere switches theirs off so yours will work. It didn't matter which cubicle I chose they were all the same, also both Gents & Ladies were the same. I feel like we should have a partial refund, as the anxiety caused was NOT what I wanted from my short break......quite the opposite! There's a dog friendly pub in town called The Hand which you can walk to it also caters to Gluten Free.
Beautiful site with great wardens - appaling showers!
This site is in the most picturesque and peaceful setting you could wish for. We received a warm welcome from the friendly wardens who obviously work very hard to maintain this beautiful site.
What a terrible shame the showers are probably the worst functioning on any camp site I have stayed on. All be it spotlessly clean they are completely out of date and very difficult, if not impossible to use, with only tepid water with very poor flow at best.
Luckily our stay was for only one night, any more than that would have been difficult.
I'm afraid we'll not be going back for a second visit until they're upgraded.
Very good alert from one thing
The site is ideally located for visiting both Chirk Castle and Erddig both NT properties.
There is very little in Chirk as regards shops only one small supermarket and a cash point.
Access to The Chirk viaduct and the other one nearer to Wrexham, Pontcysyllte are well with visiting with easy parking at both for cars and motorhomes. The latter viaduct you need a head for heights!! Chirk tunnel with easy access from the site is worth a walk through just to say you've been. Don't forget to take a torch as it's very dark and narrow on the tow path.
Coming back to my title the only thing that gave it a negative feel were both the ladies and gents showers that as far as flow in the gents was very poor and my wife tried 3 different ones in the ladies before she found a good one.
Almost a brilliant site
Lady Margaret's Park is such a pretty site in a beautiful location, with so much to do on the doorstep. We're a family of five and we've just returned from a three night stay in amazing April weather. We can thoroughly recommend the the nine mile return cycle ride along the canal to Trevor, suitable for all ages and levels of fitness... Also worth doing is the 30 minute walk along the canal in the other direction to the Poachers PH, with a good choice of food available. We can also give a positive verdict on Chirk Castle and its beautiful gardens next door.
We do have a couple of negative points we feel we should point out. Please note this is no reflection on the wardens who were very friendly and obviously hard working. One is a point made by many others - the shower block is tired and dated and though was always clean, really needs some work done on it to bring it up to the level we've come to expect from the Caravan and Motorhome Club. The other relates to the lack of play area. The website and sites directory clearly state there is a play area but it appears to have been dismantled due to it not being safe. According to the wardens, there is no timescale on if and when a new one will be built. Our children, like others on the site, made their own entertainment, mainly by building dens, but when we were paying £34.00 a night, and not yet in peak season, we feel the there should be one. The site attracts many families and the central part of the site would be ideal for one to be located. It would also encourage children to congregate more in one part of the site, thus making everyone happy!
We don't like to be negative because we loved the site and will certainly return. However, it's good to point out the issues but not to take anything away from the parks natural charm.
Staying in Chirk, greet location, quiet apart from distant hum from factory .. white noise ..
Stayed here for three nights, great location, went walking through canal tunnel, you will need a torch as it is pitch black, good job there were railings!
Chirk Castle on the doorstep, well worth a visit.
There is great food at The Hand Hotel, don't forget to ask for your 10% caravan and motorhome discount.
Bus service to Llangollen, Wrexham, Oswestry, etc.
Train service to Chester.
Excellent Touring Base
We visited Lady Margaret's for a week in early March 2017. The approach to the site is straightforward from the centre of Chirk. There are plenty of hardstanding pitches, both in tree lined avenues and in open areas. Grass pitches are available in better weather The Reception has a small supply of essentials and a book exchange. The wardens were cheerful and helpful. Toilet and shower blocks were maintained to the high standard expected of Club sites.
Chirk station is a 10 minute walk with a good service to Shrewsbury or Chester. Another 5 minute stroll brings you to Chirk (take a torch if returning after dark as there is no lighting on road after Chirk station. The town is served by a good bus service. There are Coop and Spar minimarkets (both with a rather limited and expensive range of goods). A larger supermarket (Stan's) located at St Martin's (under 2 miles) has greater choice and far better value. Petrol also available at the lowest prices we saw in the area. Chirk has excellent an butcher and fruit & veg shop. The Hand Hotel sells tasty, well priced food and drink with a discount upon production of a Caravan Club membership card.

Chirk Lady Margaret's Park site
Site layout and location is very good. However, the shower / toilet facilities are not the best. They are desperately in need of updating and refurbishment.

Always worth a visit
We have been here several times when other sites have been closed for the winter, (sometimes in the snow). Facilities are always well maintained and clean.
Staff are always very helpful.
It is close enough to Chirk so that shopping and eating out is possible without the need for transport.
Walking along the canals and various more strenuous routes are possible directly from the site we will certainly visit again
