The noise was tolerable. The smell (wood and chocolate) from nearby factories bearable. The lack of advertised play area was about acceptable if you take into account use of the rally field. It's a beautiful site in a great location just ruined by bad member behaviour. Please remember that dogs are not loved by all - it's not acceptable to leave them alone in a van and definitely not left to howl. Your children are loved by you - not us - we've worn that Tshirt out so we don't want their electric boards whizzing by or their balls rattling past your ankle. Take them to the field where they can yell all they like and if you must take the 6 pack along too. But most of all IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO WALK AND EVEN DRIVE THROUGH SOMEONES PITCH!
My family and I (2 adults and 2 children) throughly enjoyed this site. It is in a lovely location with so much to do in the local area. Very spacious site with lots of areas for the children to play and have fun. Toilet block was clean with plenty of hot water. One of our now favourite sites. We will definitely return.
Spent a few nights here at the beginning of our visit to Wales
Tree lined and very pretty area, warden welcome excellent and very informstive about the area. Lots of little cul de sac options to pitch on either grass or hardstsnding, we chose an area with some pine tree shade
site facilities very clean, the only issue we found is the water pressure is far too low, get this sorted and it would score top marks.
Lots of walking options and we visited chirk castle, with a walk from the site through the forest on the blue and red trail, which almost runs on the right parallel to the road just after the coach house a few hundred metres up the entrance road, which was reslly lovely with fantastic gardens and a nice cafe too... well worth a visit.
We also took a walk from the site along the canal, over the aquaduct and after about 15 minutes found a nice pub which served excellent food.
Chirk itself is quite a small place but has all the things you need, selection of shops,a nice cafe, lovely church and several eateries, we tried the local fish and chip shop just out of the town opposite the coop, really good food at reasonable prices.
all in all a really nice place to visit and will return.
I have just returned from this park, I went 2 years ago and the park had a park, activities for children and running lanes.
NOT ANY MORE,
The park and running lanes gone, no activities. My 2 children where playing in a grass area in front of caravan, with two other peoples children. They where playing lovely and being monitored by me. I was approached by the warden and told that we should not be there and to go to play at the football field. There are no signs preventing Ball games here!!
We had not hit any bodies vehicle and there was a big empty space where we were located.
The football pitch has NO football goal (just a piece of land, with lots of rabbit holes for children to break ankles) It is located off away from anybody, so watching children difficult.
I felt that children are not welcome, big warning to anyone who had happy memories. The six weeks holidays should be prepared for families. I felt discriminated against
We had two nights here as a journey break from a holiday in Harlech. It worked out well, arrived just before midday and parked up to wait but was told not to worry that we were early and come on in! Such friendly staff makes such a difference. We pitched in primrose dell, under the shade of the trees, it was great, felt like we were in a wooded glade. Lots of birds and squirrels and bunnies. Nice to get away from the regimental lines of the previous two sites. We took a walk to the canal, only 10 mins or so away and sat on a bench and chatted to people on their boats as they appeared out from the tunnel on their hire barges before crossing the aqueduct. We also. opted to walk to Chirk castle, probably not the best decision if you're an old decrepit like me! Took us an hour to get up the very steep road and that was with taking a shortcut across the grass. Chirk castle gardens are beautiful and if we return will drive there so we can enjoy without feeling too worn out to walk too much. They do fab food there too. All in all a good couple of nights and we would certainly return.

Quick break this weekend and after reading some of the reviews on here was unsure what to expect. I needn't have worried as all was well and we had a fantastic relaxing break. Yes the facilities are a little dated but still perfectly adequate, if there had been an issue I would have used our own facilities in the van. No TV hook up point on the bollards but again a weekend without TV suited us. I am sure the site will get updated in time but until then don't let the negative reviews put you off, go and enjoy a peaceful site in a great location.
PS well done CC for including Motorhomes in the rebranding.
Yes, the toilet blocks do need an upgrade but I understand from the wardens this is on the agenda for 2019. Earlier problems with showers was caused by a bad plumber and this has been resolved and although water pressure is little low it is more than adequate. However we have visited other more up to date sites where the grass is too long and rubbish bins have been overflowing so it was so good to be on a site where the grass is neat and tidy and the rubbish bin area clean. Definitely the best kept site we have visited so far this year. A small problem was handled immediately by the very friendly wardens. Lots of lovely walks in the area especially along the canal.
This site is a great site in a lovely setting but its a long time since any money has been spent on the shower blocks showers with little water that dont switch off toilets that dont flush etc. Otherwise the site is clean and tidy and in a great location .
A few thousand pounds could sort everything. ...perhaps if the club is short of money it should not have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on basically adding "motorhome" to its title.
Despite the occasional intrusive hum from the nearby factory this is a pleasant site with a variety of pitching styles, from open areas to wooded glades. It is such a shame therefore that the overall impression is soured by the 1980's style of the single facilities block. We read that one site and another site has had a makeover but in this case the march of progress has passed it by. Despite constant mention in earlier reviews it is clear that nothing has been done to rectify the low shower pressure or the shower units themselves which are past their use-by date. And why oh why does the club (whatever it's called) not realise that narrow cubicles with plastic stools give the wrong impression from the outset.
Having said all that the site staff were exemplary. But why should they constantly have to put up with valid complaints regarding the facilities?
Perhaps each site description should give a facilities rating from 1 to 5. At the moment this site can only just manage a '1'. How sad that the club can't turn the clock back and allocate the tens (hundreds?) of thousands which have been spent on the pointless name change and all that went with it to improving essential facilities.
