Too many dogs

We pitched in primrose Dell, nice spacious pitch, bit of sun, bit of shade. We travel with 2 cats. So plenty of hedges full of mice for them to watch. There is a small walk off the Dell which we were told was a nature walk NOT a dog walk, however this does seem to be used as a dog walk, leaving the usual dog mess behind. 4 vans turned up, nine dogs between them ! Most (6)were kept well under control, for which we thank you, however spoilt by one van whose dogs were off leads. A dog free area would be good, not everyone likes dogs, especially when allowed by irresponsible owners to foul the pitches and grass verges, usually early morning when they think no one is around. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lots of lovely walks nearby.

Visit with Grandson

We stayed for four nights with our 9 year old grandson in early August. The access and approach roads where excellent, the site is in a lovely location. Major supermarkets and towns, city's in easy reach. The children's play area was a very disappointing, only a rough grass area full of rabbit holes, no real apparatus to play on or to meet other children. No water service point on the lower level, a set of steps to reach service point or a long walk round with small gradient at each end. The dog walk is in a rough wooded area, only a short walk, no real area to let to run. Overhaul the site needs an update.

lovely quiet site

My husband & I stayed here for a week mid July. We pitched on a grass pitch near the toilet block which was sunny but needed blocks. We didn't notice any noise from the factory but did smell chocolate from time to time... not that bad as odours go. It is a well kept site in a lovely location with plenty of walks from the site. We visited Chirk castle and Eirddig house and the canal with chirk aquaduct is so close by. Lovely lunch at the poachers Inn a short stroll away. We also had some lovely fish and chips from the chip shop in Chirk. Llangollen with it's nearby aquaduct is also worth a visit. The wardens do a wonderful job and we had no problems with the toilet/shower block. The one thing we were confused about was, being careful recyclers, watching the refuse lorry tip all the bins, general waste and recycled waste in one skip... what's that all about...

Ruined by the few!

The noise was tolerable. The smell (wood and chocolate) from nearby factories bearable. The lack of advertised play area was about acceptable if you take into account use of the rally field. It's a beautiful site in a great location just ruined by bad member behaviour. Please remember that dogs are not loved by all - it's not acceptable to leave them alone in a van and definitely not left to howl. Your children are loved by you - not us - we've worn that Tshirt out so we don't want their electric boards whizzing by or their balls rattling past your ankle. Take them to the field where they can yell all they like and if you must take the 6 pack along too. But most of all IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO WALK AND EVEN DRIVE THROUGH SOMEONES PITCH!

Loved this site

My family and I (2 adults and 2 children) throughly enjoyed this site. It is in a lovely location with so much to do in the local area. Very spacious site with lots of areas for the children to play and have fun. Toilet block was clean with plenty of hot water. One of our now favourite sites. We will definitely return.

lovely site

Spent a few nights here at the beginning of our visit to Wales Tree lined and very pretty area, warden welcome excellent and very informstive about the area. Lots of little cul de sac options to pitch on either grass or hardstsnding, we chose an area with some pine tree shade site facilities very clean, the only issue we found is the water pressure is far too low, get this sorted and it would score top marks. Lots of walking options and we visited chirk castle, with a walk from the site through the forest on the blue and red trail, which almost runs on the right parallel to the road just after the coach house a few hundred metres up the entrance road, which was reslly lovely with fantastic gardens and a nice cafe too... well worth a visit. We also took a walk from the site along the canal, over the aquaduct and after about 15 minutes found a nice pub which served excellent food. Chirk itself is quite a small place but has all the things you need, selection of shops,a nice cafe, lovely church and several eateries, we tried the local fish and chip shop just out of the town opposite the coop, really good food at reasonable prices. all in all a really nice place to visit and will return.

Not Family Friendly

I have just returned from this park, I went 2 years ago and the park had a park, activities for children and running lanes. NOT ANY MORE, The park and running lanes gone, no activities. My 2 children where playing in a grass area in front of caravan, with two other peoples children. They where playing lovely and being monitored by me. I was approached by the warden and told that we should not be there and to go to play at the football field. There are no signs preventing Ball games here!! We had not hit any bodies vehicle and there was a big empty space where we were located. The football pitch has NO football goal (just a piece of land, with lots of rabbit holes for children to break ankles) It is located off away from anybody, so watching children difficult. I felt that children are not welcome, big warning to anyone who had happy memories. The six weeks holidays should be prepared for families. I felt discriminated against

A leafy glade

We had two nights here as a journey break from a holiday in Harlech. It worked out well, arrived just before midday and parked up to wait but was told not to worry that we were early and come on in! Such friendly staff makes such a difference. We pitched in primrose dell, under the shade of the trees, it was great, felt like we were in a wooded glade. Lots of birds and squirrels and bunnies. Nice to get away from the regimental lines of the previous two sites. We took a walk to the canal, only 10 mins or so away and sat on a bench and chatted to people on their boats as they appeared out from the tunnel on their hire barges before crossing the aqueduct. We also. opted to walk to Chirk castle, probably not the best decision if you're an old decrepit like me! Took us an hour to get up the very steep road and that was with taking a shortcut across the grass. Chirk castle gardens are beautiful and if we return will drive there so we can enjoy without feeling too worn out to walk too much. They do fab food there too. All in all a good couple of nights and we would certainly return.
