Great site but needing some upgrading

Excellent wooded site with lots of walks right from the gates. Good dog walking on and off site. Local shops in Chirk, just down the road, and close to Wrexham, Oswestry and Llangollen. Only drawback is it is now time for upgrading the facilities. The shower block is not up to the standard of the best sites and the pitch hard standings need redoing as there is mud showing in places which gets into your van. There is a long single width access road so need to stick to the advertised arrival times.

Nice site in great location

Pleasant site in good location for visiting local attractions, National Trust properties, Llangollen canal, border country scenery etc. Makes a good jump off point for touring Wales. Cannot understand negative reviews about the shower block, may not be up to top hotel standards but when I visited it was very clean, everything worked fine, had no issues at all. Overall had good experience and would certainly return if in the area again.

Excellent site

We have been going to this site for quite a few years now and we really like it.We like it’s location and that we can do a few small walks from the site whilst we are there. The facilities are getting a bit old now but this will not stop us going to this beautiful site.

Showers not fi for purpose

Just returned from site. It took years to get access road repaired. Looks like the same situation with facility block. The showers are worn out and falling to bits. Water pressure is almost non existent. Had to change cubicle to get a trickle. THe visitors book shows many complaints about this. Also complaints about state of H/S . Someone states there is more mud than chippings. Wardens say no revamp scheduled before 2019. What a shame as site is in superb area. If this site is not top of the list I hate to think what state those that are

Beautiful site in very pleasant surroundings.

Stayed here for a long weekend in September and really enjoyed the tranquility and beauty of this site. The whole site is surrounded by trees giving an air of peaceful separation from the outside world. It is well layed out with plenty of space between pitches affording a good level of privacy to each van. The facilities were excellent and always maintained spick and span each morning. Surprisingly, considering the height of the surrounding trees, we were able to get a very good TV signal, so no issues missing Bake Off or Match of the Day! We were pitched close to the main toilet/shower block which is where a WiFi antenna was evident so getting on-line was no problem though this is a chargeable extra. Plenty to do and see in the surrounding area so all in all I would recommend this site to anyone wishing to visit the area.

Great site... poor water pressure

Stopped for 6 nights at the end of September. This is a lovely quiet site and the wardens are extremely pleasant. Chirk is a lovely Village, the bistro is a must for either lunch or tea. The Hand hotel was quirky. We will definitely visit again, the only issue that needs to be addressed is the water pressure which made showering a bit hit and miss occasionally.

Too many dogs

We pitched in primrose Dell, nice spacious pitch, bit of sun, bit of shade. We travel with 2 cats. So plenty of hedges full of mice for them to watch. There is a small walk off the Dell which we were told was a nature walk NOT a dog walk, however this does seem to be used as a dog walk, leaving the usual dog mess behind. 4 vans turned up, nine dogs between them ! Most (6)were kept well under control, for which we thank you, however spoilt by one van whose dogs were off leads. A dog free area would be good, not everyone likes dogs, especially when allowed by irresponsible owners to foul the pitches and grass verges, usually early morning when they think no one is around. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lots of lovely walks nearby.

Visit with Grandson

We stayed for four nights with our 9 year old grandson in early August. The access and approach roads where excellent, the site is in a lovely location. Major supermarkets and towns, city's in easy reach. The children's play area was a very disappointing, only a rough grass area full of rabbit holes, no real apparatus to play on or to meet other children. No water service point on the lower level, a set of steps to reach service point or a long walk round with small gradient at each end. The dog walk is in a rough wooded area, only a short walk, no real area to let to run. Overhaul the site needs an update.

lovely quiet site

My husband & I stayed here for a week mid July. We pitched on a grass pitch near the toilet block which was sunny but needed blocks. We didn't notice any noise from the factory but did smell chocolate from time to time... not that bad as odours go. It is a well kept site in a lovely location with plenty of walks from the site. We visited Chirk castle and Eirddig house and the canal with chirk aquaduct is so close by. Lovely lunch at the poachers Inn a short stroll away. We also had some lovely fish and chips from the chip shop in Chirk. Llangollen with it's nearby aquaduct is also worth a visit. The wardens do a wonderful job and we had no problems with the toilet/shower block. The one thing we were confused about was, being careful recyclers, watching the refuse lorry tip all the bins, general waste and recycled waste in one skip... what's that all about...
