Revisited the site February after several years (mainly because the site was always full). The location can't be faulted but the site itself now looks tired and run down; toilet block needs refreshing or updating - most of the WC's took 2 or 3 flushes . Areas around the water utilities were untidy and the site itself just looked well tired. Many ruts on the grass around the pitches. Electricity went off a couple of times. Shop and Reception also unimpressive.Bit disappointed to be honest.
Lovely spot
Had 3 good night's here, walked to llangollen along the canal great days walking, next day walked to chirk castle met some lovely volenteers, had a great lunch. The showers are a bit old fashioned but clean, I don't like the hum or the smell from the factory but that is on a windy day and I am sure the locals don't like it . Beautiful part of the country. Would definitely come back
Love our motorhome

Fly in the ointment
Fly in the ointment or should that be factory constant hum and one day unpleasant smell what a pity good for dog walking good for walking a dog to the Castle and the aqueduct without this factory I would highly recommend especially for dog owners
Nice site and good location
My wife and I stayed on this site for 3 nights in February. Great location for town and castle. Ideal for walking around and easy access to canal. If weather was good it could have been superb, but U.K. weather is unpredictable. Good site and good location.Staff very friendly.
Nice weekend
We spent last weekend at this site and we had a great time. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. The village of Chirk is only a short walk and has a well stocked Spar, a very good Indian restuarant/takeaway and the Hand Hotel which serves a great pint of local ale.
We had a nice although muddy walk with our labradors around Chirk Castle. All in all a good weekend.
1st timers and loved it! We will return.
As newbies we booked 5 nights here and we were not disappointed.
What a beautiful location and our little dog loved it. I have loved staying here and have to say what friendly and helpful wardens as well as other members. We were stuck on a couple of things and people were so happy to help us. We were even offered cake and a cup of tea by another member; what a different life this is! I love the friendliness of other campers and I am enjoying this experience of love and happiness you receive.
Great walks along the aqueduct although being scared of heights it can be a little scary but we did it! Walk through the tunnel and just make sure you have a torch.
Thanks for a lovely stay and make sure you sit under the stars of an evening, lots of activity in the sky!
Also the wash facilities are amazing, lovely clean showers and toilets as well as a wash area for your dishes.
Thank you xx
Never disappointed
We stayed here for a long weekend , F- Sumatra the end in January ‘18.
It’s the theft time we stayed here and we are never disappointed. Easy to find and easy access with friendly wardens and clean facilities.
The site is well maintained with good WiFi and TV signal. Good choice of pitches.
It’s great for walking with plenty to see.
Chirk has a good butchers , SPAR, choice of pubs and a great Indian :-)
The canal is close for an easy walk.
Don’t hesitate , it’s a great site.
Dog Walk
Whilst we enjoy staying on this site and have been here 5 times, we were more than a little disappointed with the "dog walk." The fence at the entrance has fallen down and the fence onto the grassed area has been flattened and looks like it has been for a long time. It is pointless having a designated dog walk if the dogs cannot be let off the lead. A safe and secure area where the dogs could let off steam would ensure our return. Without that we may be looking elsewhere.

Winter Break
Had a great couple of days here. Very convenient for the lowland walks in the area, particularly along the canal over the magnificent Pontcysllte Aquaduct to Ruabon, where refreshments of a alcoholic type can be had at the Bridge End Inn (previous national CAMRA pub of the year).
Very convenient rail station nearby takes you back to Chirk.
No doubt gets busier during the summer, but out of season is perfect.
Could do with more standing taps on the site. We had to walk up a flight of steps to get to fill our aquaroll; it's quite awkward to get the roll back down the steps too. I can imagine those with less mobility would struggle.
Otherwise highly recommended.

Excellent winter site
Stayed here in early January. Very cold but pitches and facilities were excellent. Very friendly and helpful Wardens had just arrived themselves. Plenty of shopping, out of the cold, just a few miles away and great walks directly from the site gates.
