Wooded Site
This was our first return visit since 2005. It is a pleasant enough site although a couple of aspects would put us off a further return visit especially in high season. Firstly the positives. It is an attractive site visually with lots of mature trees so almost Park Like. It is handy for exploring the Llangollen Canal and the Chirk Aqueduct is only a short walk away. The club could make that walk even shorter by having a gate onto the path in the far corner of the site! The toilet block is probably due for a makeover but it is both clean and perfectly serviceable. The WiFi although only rated as Bronze seemed to work perfectly for me with no drop-outs, perhaps because we were pitched next to one of the repeater aerials? Even managed to get a 4G signal on my phone. Now the less than positive. Firstly the motorhome service point desperately needs updating as it still requires drain covers to be lifted and the most stupid thing is that from some pitches it needs a double circuit of the site to use it!!! TV reception is reported as bad but no booster system, why? If you rely on satellite TV it is quite difficult to find a pitch with a clear view if the site is busy. BTW I don't expect the Club to cut down all the trees so I can get a TV picture but it is a frustration. We found a pitch (number 20) with an open aspect right opposite the toilet block, perfect picture. Unfortunately many of our fellow members thought it perfectly OK to use our pitch as a short cut, lesson learnt! My final gripe was the number of dogs on site, they must have outnumbered children by 10 to 1. Whilst I don't object to being next to outfits with one or even two dogs what I would object to is being next to someone with five dogs or four dogs! On a busy site you might not have a choice. Is it not time for the Club to consider a limit on the number of dogs as most commercial sites do. And perhaps I shouldn't mention the total disregard for the rules on lead length and not exercising dogs on site exhibited by some members!
