no longer feels child friendly

we've been visiting here for the past 6 years and this year we decided it will probably be the last for a while. the site has nothing for children to do apart from a bit of woodland and a large field to have a kick of a ball etc, but is unclean due to some of the fellow dog owners who are too lazy to clean up their own dogs poo, i have enough cleaning up from my two dogs not to have to clean up other peoples as well, so my kids can have a play on the very large field. the same goes for the bit of woodland that's not the sites but next to it, not pleasant cleaning off my 3 year olds shoe. other than that the walks off the site are very pleasant. nice walks or bike ride along the canal. the showers etc need updating but are still very usable. this year during the kids 6 week holiday they didn't feel welcome by some of the older people also staying on the site. I NEED TO SAY ITS THE KIDS 6 WEEK HOLIDAY and due to government restrictions parents can only holiday during this time, and if you don't kids making a bit of noise playing making new friends running around and riding their bikes etc YOU SHOULDN'T VISIT DURING THIS TIME or visit an adult only site.

One of our faves but time for shower upgrade

We visit here every year at least once as it’s less than an hour from home. The site is beautiful and grass and shrubs etc are well maintained. Chirk is a short walk with some nice shops, cafes and a fabulous curry house. Chirk Castle is a lovely walk away and a good place to visit. Walks from the sites are in every direction. As always with C&MC sites the pitches are generous and well kept. But it really is time for a shower block upgrade, yes they are clean but very old now. The club regularly state that they are updating shower blocks regularly but none of the sites we’ve visited this year have yet had the upgrade. Price freezes need to continue we feel on all sites that haven’t yet got the upgrade.

Lady Margarets Park Site

The site is well placed to visit Chirk Castle and outlying areas of splendid beauty. The site is well laid out but offers only one central toilet block which is tired and needs updating. There are however plenty of service points around the site. The site has a feel of Adult only and has little facilities for children which tend to ride round the site on bikes and scooters. There used to be a central wooden castle which has been taken away for whatever reason. This is the second time I have visited this site but feel that unless its toilet block facilities are updated I will not be re visiting again.

Quiet, child friendly, scenic, close to town.

Just visited. Just one night while testing new van and satellite combo. Lots of trees but still found pitch that had good signal. Quiet site. All very well behaved. Nice site for children to run around on. Also good for dogs. Long walk to Chirk castle; too far for some. But getting to the viaduct (canal) was easy; expect town centre and shops are similarly close. Definitely going back.

Perfect site. Wonderful location.

Magnificent peaceful site with trees for shade. Many good walks from the site to Chirk Castle, Llangollen canal (both ways) up to Offa's Dyke etc Took bus into Llangollen then took the horse drawn barge - very peaceful and well worth it, then walked back. Chirk castle and grounds lovely. Friendly helpful staff.

Enjoyable

A very nicely located and peaceful site. We were there during school holidays and still had a good choice of pitches throughout the site. This was probably due to the fact that there there is not much for kids. We particularly enjoyed the woodland location, the layout of the site and close proximity to small the town/village and the canal, both of which were easy walking distance. Staff were friendly, helpful and overall a very nice place to spend a few days.

A wonderful week by the Llangollen Canl

We booked to come here in the first week of the school holidays and were surprised at how peaceful it was. There is so much to do nearby, we caught the train to Shrewsbury visited the Abbey and took the Prison tour which was very informative. We also visited Chester saw their Roman history and walked the city walls, took a river trip and mooched around the lovely shopping areas. Chester Zoo was a vast are of enclosures with a great monorail to give you overhead views of the animals. The tow path to Llangollen was an excellent was to cycle or walk the eight miles, across the famous aqueduct, not for the faint hearted. The café on the canal as you reach Llangollen did a wonderful afternoon tea. Chirk castle was a lovely walk from the site and the tour was very interesting, the café was limited but the food was delicious. The site was clean and tidy, the toilets clean and serviceable there's no denying that the showers were poor and in need of updating but it wouldn't stop me staying at the site again. There is so much to do nearby.

could be better.

The site its self is great but sadly is let down by the very tired shower block . The showers in caravans are not renowned for their efficiency but I found mine to be far better than those in the shower block. The other disappointment were some of the dog owners who think its ok to let their pets defecate and urinate on any available pitch or green space . My visit coincided with a long hot period and the smell on some pitches was very strong . As a base for visiting local country side and attractions its brilliant.

A beautiful sight this site!

This site was beautiful and particularly so because of the warm sunny weather. Full of rabbits and other wild life and birds. Nearby for many attractions; British Ironwork Centre, Nr Oswestry a must. Be wowed by the metal sculptures and especially the Angel of Peace. Chirk Castle was a little disappointing but a lot depends on your guided tour guide, others have had a great one, who was lively and informative. However it was certainly stunning as you made your way up the road towards it. A mini bus will take you up as it is quite a climb. You can get a drink and something to eat there. The Keys has excellent food and attractive deco and is attractively priced and is nearby at St. Martins, Oswestry. The Duke of Wellington`s deco is nothing to write home about but the food is and we had a jolly good meal and two mugs of coffee for under £18.00. The locals there were happy to chat and were very friendly. Jones the Boats is just across the road from it. A walk down to the canal is a must and then if you are brave enough, have a trip on the boat across the Aqueduct! We also enjoyed a visit to Wrexham which had some very old unexpected places and some excellent second hand book shops. If you are parking, do parked in the Water World car park which is cheaper than anywhere else and so near the town city which is on the flat and easy to walk to. We finish the day by buying a meal deal from Marks and Sparks, which is located towards the bottom of the town and accessible by a circular bridge. The only regret is that we didn`t stay longer, only four nights but there is always a next time.

Beautiful site but toilet block needs modernising.

Love this site. It’s location is lovely and it is probably a victim of its own success as it is very popular. However despite the wardens great work, the toilet blocks are not up to the caravan clubs standards and the money charged for the site. The aged facilities are difficult to keep clean. The disabled shower in the annex had little water coming out of the shower head, and in the ladies main block two toilets were out of action when we were there, one of which flooded. Also, in the hottest summer since 1961 the radiator was running full pelt with no apparent way of turning it off. Come on caravan club do something about this site and give the wardens a break. Your rates are not cheap, but most people book caravan club for its high standards, which you are not giving here.
