Sorry, got mixed up about the sofas. That was somewhere else, but the rest of our review stands for Lady Margaret's Park.

Impressed

Definitely go back after a positive and friendly experience. Enjoyed little additional touches such as the sofa in the reception and laundry. Lovely views, walks and cycling.

a welcome return

We arrived early due to the adverse weather conditions reported 15th Feb, but was accepted with a warm and welcoming smile. It is 5 yrs since we last visited and was like coming home, a lovely site in winter months, the wind on Friday night into Saturday morning was quite horrendous but we, the caravan and awning survived quite well, Saturday & a completely different day - breakfast in the awning sun shining, Squirrels playing. The walks around chirk, the aqueduct and viaduct are absolutely beautiful and up to the castle are a delight. This was a relaxing weekend and the peace and quiet was truly amazing. The Wardens very discreet but there should you need anything & after Friday nights winds were up early cleaning up ready for a new day. The facilities were spotless as per usual and a wonderful stay was had.

A Good Base

Had a lovely long weekend away. It is a good base to walk from; in walking distance of Chirk village, Chirk Castle, Canal Path to the pub, local eateries, Garden Centre or to see the Pontcysylte Aqueduct. We have be coming to Chirk for some time now and it is a shame to see the site looking tired, having saying this, it won't stop us from visiting again.

Enjoyable Visit

Just a quick thank you to the wardens who couldn't of been more helpful. Just stayed for one night to test out our new motorhome to see that everything worked okay. It did including the Alde heating which I had on 3 and forgot and boiled our electric kettle which overloaded our electric supply. Warden came to our rescue almost as soon as I reported it and got us back on to power again. That's what I call service !!!!

Great site

We stayed with friends over new year, the lady warden could not have been more helpful even though she was so busy booking in so many. We had a great walk on the canal, lovely lunch in the old Chapel cafe. And in the evening a great new years eve dinner in the local pub. The showers were so clean and warm and the site was fully booked ,the standard was kept high

Love our motorhome

It remains a favourite.. but facilities need updating

As this is 45 minutes from home, it remains one of our most visited sites, as it’s location is fabulous. We enjoy the local walks on offer, along the canal, to the castle or into the village, we love the spacious pitches, and the local village, restaurant and pubs. It’s perfect for a lovely chilled break in beautiful surroundings. Great for couples or families who have children who like the outdoors. But the shower and toilet facilities are really due an upgrade now. They are clean but very old and could do with sprucing up to say the least. That said, you can still get a hot shower, so this won’t put us off visiting. But I don’t think that C&MC can justify any price increases until they have updated the facilities.

Lovely Site, but a few things need updating.

We stayed here for a few nights in early January. This was our 1st time at LM's and we really enjoyed our time. The wardens were friendly and booking in was easy. Chirk was a short walk along a path the runs alongside the site, in Chirk there's a decent sized Spar (7am-11pm) & a Coop . There are 2 pubs & 2 Cafes, one of the Cafes is on the walk to Chirk (but isn't dog friendly). Theres an Indian restaurant in Chirk which has got good reviews but we didn't visit. There is a chippy about a mile. The site is very close to the site is the Shropshire Union Canal which is a delight to walk along. Its a flat one hours walk along the Canal to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which is a World Heritage Site and a must see. On the other side of the Aqueduct is popular Cafe. In my title I said a few things need up dating, they are the facilities block which is warm and very clean is in desperate need of an update. The showers were hot but weren't that powerful, a man I spoke to said he's been visiting LM's for 25 years & the facility block hasn't changed a jot. Come on C&MC management get the block refurbished. Another issue is the TV reception which on our pitch was 99% perfect, but others on the site said they could only get BBC or ITV or neither. One man said that he couldn't get a signal through is roof top aerial or his sat dish. This is unacceptable and the Club should get TV hook up on the EHU bollards. Niggles aside we loved our time at Lady Margarets and will definitely return. One last thing there's little to do onsite for kids other than a small area for ball games, this didn't bother us at all.

Lady margarets

Stayed here 3 nights over New year 2019. Great location to Chirk, which is just on a mile away. Couple of pubs, Stanton arms , hands hotel and the bridge Inn is also walking distance but at the bottom of the hill. Nice little bistro castle tea rooms in chirk, we booked for new years eve. Good food and reasonably priced. Local super market. Short track from the site leads down to canal, head one way towards ellesmere (nice views over the viaduct) and the other to Llangollen. Great flat routes for nice walks or bike rides. Site itself was clean and tidy, toilets, showers and vanity sinks. Clean but just looked a bit basic and dated. Plenty of points on site for water, elsan and bins. Not much for kids, although quite a few where cycling on the grounds which is big enough to play. Only issue was the Cadburys/wood factories, can be quite noisy during sleep hours and views spoiled by pollution :-( Would come again though. Staff on site were great

First impressions

First visit in late Oct 18. Attractive site, good position for walking and biking, handy for pubs and good Co-op super-market. Wardens were helpful and friendly; they worked hard and succeeded in keeping the site clean and tidy. Whilst the toilet/shower facilities were clean and well maintained they do need some serious attention. So little water emerged from the shower I used, it was almost a waste of effort. Replacement, or at least a major up-grade of the facilities is hopefully included in the Winter 2019 works. Wi-fi was reported to be fairly useless and a waste of money. TV was good. D. Horley
