A fabulous site, really really peaceful, rabbits and squirrels everywhere, very nice setting, great walks on the canal, thoroughly enjoyed it, the showers aren't the best but would gladly come back.
Charming Chirk
Lovely peaceful site conveniently located within walking distance of Chirk. Some great walks around the area, Bought a walking map from the site office and walked along the canal to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Nearby Ellesmere is well worth a visit and also Chirk castle. Toilet block fine although a little dated, can't see what all the fuss is about. Would definitely return.

Rabbits - and more rabbits
We spent two nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rabbits, squirrels and crows hop around your pitch completely unfazed by human presence. The walk up to Chirk Castle and back is good healthy exercise. Yes, water pressure in the showers is disappointing, but that is just a quibble. Overall much to recommend it.
Good old Fashioned Club Site
We stopped here for four nights in May and was a little apprehensive about what we would find, after reading the mixed reviews. The site looks just like many Club sites did 10 to 15 years ago, no frills but everything you need. The toilet block from the outside looks like any other block from this era and inside is the same. The interior fixtures, fittings and décor are from the same time too, nothing wrong with that either. Yes the water pressure in the some showers was low but all that I used were perfectly serviceable. If you are going to this site expecting it to be the latest club decoration, tiles, piped music and alike you'll be disappointed, if you're expecting traditional functional facilities you will be satisfied. The Club cannot afford to refurbish every site, every year, this site is clearly waiting it's turn. As for the rest of the site its great, a mix of open, shaded, grass or hard standings, communal or more intimate pitching areas. There's plenty of wildlife on site and a good information area. The Wardens do a great job of keeping everything ticking over nicely. The only reason I can see of dissing this site is to keep people away so you can enjoy it for yourself! It's a pity that people cannot respect the site rules and arrive after 12pm, and not 11am as we were seeing.
Don’t stay here if you need the toilet block facilities!
We have just returned from this site.
We had a great time BUT the shower block is a disgrace.
The showers are tired and don’t work properly...the water pressure is almost nothing...it takes what seems like hours to shower.
We tried going at different times but to no avail they are just not fit for purpose..
So we used our own facility..now I don’t mind this BUT why do we have to pay for amenities that are no use?
Sites without shower blocks are much cheaper!
I did talk to the wardens but they said they have complained and nothing has been done or is going to be in the near future.
Therefore I suggest you either refurbish the facility’s or drop the price!
Potential For Fab Dog Walk!
There is a vastly underused rally field which considering the amount of people who have dogs could make very good use of. If maybe half or a third was adequately fenced off, with suitable amount of chicken wire to stop the lovely bunnies getting in and becoming easy prey, then it would be ace! Such sites supplying secure dog exercising areas, ie: Penhros, Anglesey & Englethwaite Hall are a god send. If more people requested such an area where it is obvious one could be accommodated, then I think everyone is a winner 👍
A place to go to relax.
A well kept and friendly site with excellent access to Wales and Chester. The toilet block needs some attention considering the popularity of this site.
In need of update to facilities
Lovely site spoiled by tired facilities. Come on Club, stop messing about with "our" Club name and spend some money on this, which could be a wonderful, site!! Fences falling to pieces, play facilities disappeared, Wardens do their best but upgrade sadly long promised failing to materialise. Only continuing popular due to location, soon we will be avoiding here in favour of other equally enjoyable sites.
Needs aminity facilities modernisation
Lovely spacious site with large pitches located 1 mile from Chirk at edge of grounds to Chirk castle (1 ½ miles from site). Staff very friendly and helpful, but amenities block in drastic need of improvement and modernisation. Not at all up to the usual high C&MC standard, some of the toilets are loose and the cistern hanging off the wall. Shower mixer thermostats corroded and erratic temperatures, three sinks for washing up in open area. Club really need to sort out the facilities especially considering the charges (£ 27. 50/night) and the popularity of this site!
Plus side is the location. Cyclable canal towpath just outside will take you on an easy and enjoyable 8 ½ mile ride to Llangollen. The canal goes over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (not of those with a fear of heights!). Walking the canal in the opposite direction going over the Chirk Aqueduct will take you into England. Chirk castle (NT) and gardens and a must visit if staying on the site.
Really nice peaceful location with lots to do and visit in the area, but come on C&MC sort out the sites amenity block.
First visit - we loved it!
We are quite new to caravanning and have travelled further afield each time we’ve ventured out. We went to Lady Margaret’s by default, as the CL we were going to visit in Anglesey was waterlogged from the recent rain. We weren’t familiar with the area and had never even heard of Chirk, but it seemed to be “our” kind of site - picturesque and quiet - and we weren’t disappointed. The site was fully booked on the day we arrived (Sunday) and remained busy throughout the week, but even so the layout of the site ensured that it never seemed overcrowded. We had to drive round twice to see all the available pitches and find one we liked, but it was worth the effort. We spent the week watching rabbits hopping about in the sunshine. I do think though that when the trees are in full leaf, some of the pitches will be pretty gloomy. The shower block was fine, heated and clean, but could benefit from an update in the next year or two. We toured round the local area - lots to see and do, even with a big dog in tow, including the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Llangollen, and the Iron Age Hill Fort at Old Oswestry. We walked to Chirk Castle (dogs allowed in grounds and cafe but not in house or formal gardens) which took about an hour on well signposted footpaths, and also to the Chirk Aqueduct which is about 15 mins from the site. There aren’t really any facilities for children at the site so consequently there weren’t many about and it was pretty quiet. We will certainly return to this pleasant and picturesque site in future.
