Very nice site apart from it is infested with rabbits, the ground is covered in rabbit droppings, it is unavoidable to walk rabbit droppings into your accommodation. I consider it a health risk.
We have just returned from an amazing weekend at Lady Margarets site, plenty of walking with the dogs and sitting listening to the birds, whilst watching the rabbits bopping along.
Amazing walks from the site, one is along the Canal side where there is a barge selling drinks and snacks, others are through the grounds of Chirk castle walking along side sheep and horses roaming free, very surreal when you have two sheepdogs.
This site is a little break from reality. I have noticed some people mentioning the toilets etc, sorry but going to the site, I have no intention of sitting in the toilets, as long as they work and are clean... which they where, whats the issue, its the site and the surroundings that we commend and these where amazing. The wardens welcomed us warmly and where so helpful, which is another little tick in our book.
Cannot wait to return again to this site
1st time at chirk, lovely site well maintained clean and tidy, couldn’t fault it. The only problem my wife and myself had was the shower water pressure was terrible , not worth bothering with. I could run faster than the flow coming out of the end of the shower head. It needs sorting out . Perhaps they are on a meter and don’t want use to much water ?. The prices we pay we should be a least to have a decent shower, never had this problem at any other caravan and motor home sites in the rest of the country.
We have stayed many times on this site as it is close to our twin granddaughters in Ruabon. Can't think of one negative point, but can only speak as adults with no children on site so basing my 'good for families' on opinions of the site as a whole. It is also well situated to visit many places of interest locally and further afield, eg. Chester area (zoo well worth a visit). We also went to Alton Towers from there.
Yes, the toilet block may be a bit dated, but then so are many on other sites around the UK. They are always spotlessly clean, except the last day on our last visit, but that was guests who had obviously used the showers, not mopped up after themselves and judging by the water all over the floor had either walked out dripping wet or had a water fight!
However, that is not the fault of the team running the site. They are always pleasant and very welcoming.
We will be booking in the next few days to go back in December for our Christmas visit to the twins.
A very popular site nicely laid out although a bit crowded in one area and peacefully in others.
We were lucky to have a large, flat open pitch with a good TV signal although the WiFi was a bit slow at times. Facilities were fine although a bit dated and could do with refurbishment. I'm told the water pressure can be low but it was fine on our visit. Nice walk to the Chirk Aqueduct were you can cross from Wales to England in a couple of minutes. Also worth a visit are Pontycysyllte aqueduct and the Llangollen steam railway. Lovely wardens.
We stayed here for the first time in July 2019 for 7 nights. What a lovely peaceful place surrounded by nature. The site was beautifully kept by the wardens but the toilet/shower facilities could do with updating as they are showing their age. There are numerous lovely walks straight from the site including along the canal and around the grounds of Chirk castle. We shall certainly go again.
Stayed here for a week as so much to see and do in the area. A cycle path alongside the canal takes you into Llangollen or walk the opposite way through old ‘darkie’ to see Chirk Aquaduct.
There is Chirk Castle with a network of walks in and around its grounds. Chirk itself has a good selection of shops with 2 supermarkets.
Loved the campsite with its abundance of rabbits munching in the grass areas both day and night. Plus there were many squirrels and other wildlife.
Overall the site had a very relaxing atmosphere and it was nice to see so many campers sitting out by their vans.
Throughout out our stay, we had no issues with the shower facilities, I really don’t know what people are complaining about.
I would definitely recommend a stay at this lovely site.
Fabulous location and a really lovely site. Conveniently placed for both Chirk and the castle. Shower blocks are OK but could do with some tlc. What was remarkable were the number of rabbits in and around the site.
On a previous visit to this site we were told by the wardens that a major refurbishment and extension was planned.
So,we were shocked to find no changes have been made 4 years later. The amenity block is very tired. The water pressure is insufficient for showering.
The dog walk is cluttered with debris from fallen trees and vegetation.
This site is a fabulous location for accessing local tourist attractions and amenities.
It is such a shame to allow it to decline.
If the amenity block cannot be upgraded for some reason the price should reflect this.
What a shame.
