Beautiful location and a lovely, peaceful site. Sight staff are very friendly and helpful. The only downside is the dated shower and toilet facilities. The showers in particular are feeble and if all the showers are being used the water flow is just better than a dribble. A real shame as I would have rated as excellent overall if it were not for the facilities block.
Just come back from a 4 night stay at Lady Margaret's and as always had a lovely time. The staff are friendly and helpful. The site is tranquil and always clean. If you like walking and cycling then you wont be disappointed as the site is on the edge of Chirk Castle and its beautiful grounds. You are also only 10 minutes walk to the canal and 15 minutes to the shops and restaurants. We only live an hour away and come here at least twice a year.
Stayed here for August Bank Holiday in glorious weather. Yes the toilet block is dated, as many reviews have said, so if you want modern facilities this site isn’t for you. It doesn’t bother us in the least because the facilities are clean and the showers hot, and for the length of time we spend in there it really doesn’t faze us.
This is one of our most local sites so we visit often. We never tire of the beautiful canal and aqueduct walks, nor of the walk to the castle and into the village. Lots of pubs and cafes in the village and of course Chirk Tandoori which is a must if you like a curry!
Well maintained fabulous site. Back for New Year.
Stayed on the Lady Margaret site for two nights last week. I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews - I should have known the Caravan Club sites are always good!
We received a lovely welcome, a choice of pitches and settled in quickly. The shower block seems to be an area of concern for some - why!! Loads of hot water, average water pressure, but you don’t expect ‘power showers’! The whole building was spotless, warm, dry and a pleasure to visit.
Wonderful cycling from the site, both on canal paths and minor roads. We had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to revisit the area soon.
Wow! Not sure I want to share this beauty. Great location along the Llangollen canal. Great dog friendly walks and good spar shop which is very well
Stocked in Chirk for those essentials. Trains to Chester and beyond a short walk from the site with buses too.
Chirk castle straight from the site, beautiful castle and well worth the walk around the grounds.
Wardens are great and very knowledgeable of the local area.
The shower/toilet block is tired but kept clean as other comments could do with an upgrade but don’t let this put you off everything works fine. Would definitely recommend
I’m not a fussy man. Prior to becoming a motor homer, I’ve roughed it in leaking tents, wild camped in remote locations and done things in the woods that bears do.
But when I visit a Caravan and Motorhome Club site I don’t expect to have to rough it. I’m not expecting toilet and shower facilities on par with the Dorchester but surely a reasonable flow of water is not too much to ask for. Being able to flush the toilet without waiting half a day for the cistern to fill can hardly be deemed an excessive demand.
Here’s the rub (no pun intended) the shower and toilet block on this site is well below an acceptable standard. What’s more, a look through the reviews on here and elsewhere reveal this issue has been mentioned many, many times.
So why don’t the club do something about it? It’s not that they don’t have the money, they have loads. They get it from people like me who pay to stay on sites like this and pay membership fees. And why don’t they reply to the reviews with a statement. If I’d seen something along the lines of “the club will be updating the facilities in 2020” I wouldn’t have wasted my time writing thus review.
This is a beautiful site in a stunning location. The village of Chirk is lovely with a superb greengrocers and an even better butchers. Walks from the site are up there with the best. The wardens couldn’t be nicer or more helpful. It’s great for those with dogs and fabulous for cyclists
So why, oh why don’t the club sort out an issue that had been mentioned many times or at least make a comment about it?
We stayed for 6 nights late July 2019 and loved every minute. The site is large and spacious but not over crowded. Each pitch looked to have lots of space ours certainly did.
Close to Llangollen which is a lovely town, amazing location for walking and enoying the local area. Bala Lake and Betsy Coed (spelling apologies!) well worth a visit too.
My dogs had a great time and loved the walks.
Lots of birds, owls and rabbits - the only downside with the rabbits are the amount of holes they dig in the ground but not an issue if you watch where you walk!
The shower block needs a revamp however it was exceptionally clean and I had no issues with the water pressure in the ladies however my husband said the water pressure in the mens wasn't great.
Overall a really lovely week.
We stayed at this site for two nights which we enjoyed very much. The site is surrounded by trees & there are rabbits roaming around, a truly beautiful setting. We cycled along the nearby canal firstly over the Chirk aqueduct then over the Pontcysyllte aqueduct, both built by Thomas Telford. We visited Chirk Castle which is just over a mile away from the site. The weather was indifferent but it did not spoil our stay. We would definitely revisit.
