brilliant

This site is a First Class site, clean, great facilities and what friendly wardens, from the warm welcome to the friendly advice it will be hard to beat. Recommended Previous comments about the facilities seem unfounded, we found them clean, spacious with lovely hot showers you didn't want to get of. This was our second visit and we will certainly become regular visitors here when we can get away

Great site....... But

This is our 2nd review of Lady Margarets & its a site we really like. Right next door is the grounds of Chirk Castle which has acres of parkland and woods to walk your dog and bird watch etc. Less than a mile away is the Shropshire Union Canal which offers a lovely 3 mile walk to the World Heritage site of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which was built by Thomas Telford in 1805. The walk is dog friendly and wheelchair accessible. Back to the site, I have put a "but" in my title because there are 2 negatives about this site. 1st the TV signal is poor to average & the Club should install TV hook up on the EHU bollards to remedy this. 2nd the toilet block is dated and the water pressure for a shower isn't great. However the block was clean and mostly warm but it does need a refurb. To sum up we love Lady Margarets & will return again, we visited in November and the site was full throughout our visit. If you visit LMP then if you do nothing else then take the walk along the Canal to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct its a wonder to see.

A site in decline

The signs of neglect on this once great site were obvious from arrival. Pulling up at the arrivals area it was difficult to see the worn out road markings and the ramshackle fencing around the staff compound opposite was being held up with props - this rather set the scene for the entire visit. There were road signs with large growths of fungus on them and the hardstanding pitches were more moss, weed and mud than gravel. The service points and other structures were all needing attention and the information room did not seem to have been updated for a while. The facilities were old and in need of refurbishment but clean. Along with other club sites they have moved to the larger skips instead dustbins which are difficult to access, especially for those less physically able. A real pity as the site is in a great location.

Lovely, quiet atmosphere on site.

Stayed for 3 nights during last week of October 2019, this was my first time at this site. A friendly welcome on arrival and quickly booked in. I was a little worried when I was told there were only 4 pitches left to choose from, but I need not have, I found a nice quiet pitch out of the way, ideal for me. Great to have onsite laundry facilities, especially as I’m currently living in my motorhome. Surprised that there is no onsite shop, even just for the basics. Lovely walks and cycle trails along the canal. Pitches could do with some TLC, mine was mossy and muddy in places. Overall, this is a peaceful, well placed site and I enjoyed my stay.

Lady Margaret’s Park

We visited the site for a third time in October 2019. Despite mixed weather our stay was fine, with a visit to Erddig and Llangollen during our stay. The site is always popular and is kept in good condition by the wardens. The local walks are good, including to Chirk Castle and along the local canals, all possible within walking distance from the site. Chirk is fairly close by and is ok for small shopping trips, pubs are a mile or so away. Some of the hard standing pitches could do with some attention, in terms of new gravel, and the trees, as always, shade the site in many places throughout the day. This is a good site and not too far away from the Merseyside area for a short enjoyable stay.

Perfectly adequate site

Everything you expect from a club site really, nothing more and nothing less. Great access to Chirk Castle,.the village of Chirk and the canal walks which lead to the magnificent aquaducts.

October mid week break

We stopped here for the first time 25 years ago with three young children. At that time it was great and was close enough to home to make it convenient for a short break. It still is but the investment in the subsequent years looks to have been limited to resurfacing the access road and wi fi. The hardstandings are the poorest I’ve seen on a site for years. The heating in the toilet blocks didn’t work and the dog walk is a muddy paddle through the woods. However the rally field makes an excellent substitute. East Grinstead needs to visit and do something!!!! It’s a great site but falls far below the standard one expects nowadays. Make the rally field the dog walk, replace all the hardstandings, create a pedestrian shortcut to the town, and refurbish the toilet blocks and play area. You can do it. Look at Merrose Farm as an example!!!!! I’ll then be pleased to bring my grand daughter’s

unhelpful wardens

we stayed on this site last week, and the warden asked if we had been here before, I replied "no". And that was it end of conversation. Was not told of local attractions directions re walks or nothing. Therefor I don't think I will return.
