Love Lady Margarets

We have been going to this site for years and never tire of this place. Usually we have 3/4 stays during the Winter months. All this site needs is the facility block to be updated but please do not change the lay out of the site because there is plenty of open space which is what makes it special. Very good train service to Chester or Shrewsbury for a day out and the station is close by.

My first club site

We had a friendly welcome from the new assistent wardens and chose a nice pitch. Site was quiet considering that for part of the stay it was full. Generally a nice site but some pitches require attention and the facilities block whist clean was dated and and in need of refurbishment. Often a queue for the showers which had very low water pressure and those showers in the annexe were for some reason out of use. Only four showers in the main block and eight usually empty curtained privacy cubicles. Five urinals and closets and one soap dispenser and hand washing sink. Not the standard I would have expected from CAMC. Surely this busy, popular site deserves better investment.

Fourth stay at Chirk

Arrived on Saturday 23rd March for two nights. Friendly wardens on arrival. Pitched up on peg 33, opposite water and waste disposal. Not a problem with this at all. What became annoying was other inconsiderate users, walking through our pitch to use the toilet block. Is really that difficult to follow the Tarmac road to the block. Secondly as a family site, in our opinion it's not suitable for children due to lack of a decent play area, or field for them to play in. Location is excellent for walking the canal, and also for cycling. Lovely walk up to Chirk Castle, however to use the coffee shop you need to be a member of the National Trust, bare this in mind, as we were looking forward to a nice cream tea. Powys Castle don't have any such restrictions with their coffee shop. Facilities are always very clean, and whilst other reviews have noted them as dated, we don't see a problem with them. £37.00 for two nights, good value.

A peaceful weekend in Chirk

We stayed at Lady Margaret's the weekend of the 16th - 17th March 2019. We love this site so much. It was our third visit. As we have two dogs this site is perfect for us. It has great dog walking and has access to the Chirk Castle grounds. The site itself is very peaceful and surrounded with trees. We like to pitch in one of the cul-de-sacs. The wildlife is great to watch as there are squirrels, rabbits and birds. The facilities are clean and tidy. If I had one niggle it's that this site needs a better play area for the kids. We have a nine year old and this is missing on this site. Other than that you will have a lovely quiet and peaceful stay here and I highly recommend this site.

Will be coming back again.....and again.........and again

Okay,my wife and I are I have to say, "newbies" to the caravan club so we have only been to a small number of sites. However in the 2 years of touring with the caravan we have stayed here on a couple of occasions practising using the caravan and the facilities on the site. we have always been made welcome by the staff and the caravaners as well which has made this an enjoyable site to come to at all times of the year. The facilities are clean and tidy (showers and sinks etc) given the amount of use they are under, as regards to the updating from other reviews we have seen they are pretty much the same as the other sites we have seen so I'm not sure as to how much they should be updated? think I need to see the amazing facilities at the other sites to understand what the comments before are on about? anyway we were happy. Very quiet here too, didn't hear a thing at night (or day) at all. Only noise I could hear was the birds singing in the morning and a owl that decided to have a good hoot one night..and NO I'm not complaining. this was lovely. Please try the local shops in the village especially the local butchers, the meat is lovely especially on the BBQ, the hand hotel and the bistro are worth a visit in the village if you fancy someone else doing the cooking for you. Lots of nice walks everywhere especially down by the canal. ( very dog friendly as well) Back here again in May and I can't wait. Thank you for everything.

Peaceful site

Stayed for one night. Peaceful, quiet site in wooded area. Facilities dated but clean. Showers powerful and hot. Charge for Wi-fi so we didn't bother with that. Approximately 15 minutes walk into Chirk. Useful information hut with leaflets and brochures on tourist attractions and other caravan club sites and services

Maisie (9 month old Border Collie) first trip in motorhome

We decided to go to Lady Margaret's Park because it was close to home as a first time out in the motorhome for our 9 month old border collie although she was travelling with an experienced senior border collie and even more senior little german spitz. Although reasonably obedient at home I wasn't sure how she would react to strange surroundings and sleeping with us so Lady Margaret's Park being only 30 or so miles away from home seemed ideal. The write ups were pretty good too although we only use them as a guide. We really loved this site. It was really busy because of the excellent February weather but despite this it was still peaceful. It is the sort of site where you can walk into town, visit Chirk Castle and the viaduct all within walking or for those from further afar there is plenty to do. I needed to rate this site at 4.5 because there isn't a children's play area. Now as we are retired it doesn't matter to us but we have grandchildren and so we look at it from their point of view. Having said that there was plenty of space in and around the pitches and Im sure many families will be quite happy without the play area. I think this is a site we will go back to again being on the doorstep as we can just go whenever the fancy takes us (subject to pitches being available of course). And Maisie, well she loved it, all the new sniffs and those rabbits as she has never seen a rabbit before we don't see them across the fields we walk at home.

Great little site.

Just returned having spent a lovely week on the site, I agree with other reviews that the Shower block does need a refurb as it is looking a little tired. Also the question needs asking why do the Club insist on using very small cisterns in the WCs as they do not do the job and one needs to refill the cistern a second time, if it is to save water it is in fact wasting water. Having been to this site on many occasions we will not be returning due to the continual fan noises from the nearby factories and when I say continual I mean 24/7 not sure if the factory have had new extractors fans fitted or new plant installed but the noise can be heard inside the van at all times day and night. We also spoke to a local person who has told us that the factory concerned has applied to increase production and intern that will mean an increase of 30% in large vehicles accessing the factory. What a shame a lovely site ruined by an outside source.

Best Winter site

Love going to Lady Margaret's in the Winter. Access is very good whatever the weather. Yes, some people say the site is dated and in disrepair but it's still a great site, very spacious and lovely walks from from your doorstep. Chirk Castle and the canal are close by, as are a few handy shops and cafes an easy walk.

Enjoyable stay

We last stayed at this site about 15 yrs ago. We were welcomed with a friendly smile from the warden. The site does look a bit tired now really could do with some work on the pitches . The toilet block and washing up area also needs a refurb ( they are kept clean). Water pressure in some cubicles is poor so pick your shower. The site is great for the area lots of walks to be accessed from the site. Lovely walk along canal down to the Pontcysyllte aqueduct (approx 8 miles round trip but flat and there is somewhere at Trevor Basin to get a bite to eat and benches for a picnic. Alternatively you can drive to Trevor Basin to see the aqueduct. Powis and Chirk castles are worth a visit both NT you can walk from site to Chirk. Llangollen is nice to visit worth a look at Horse shoe falls (is actually a weir ) and start of the canal you can park here £3 all day and then walk in Llangollen nice town with tea shop etc. You can take horse drawn boat ride from here. Aldi is at Llangollen on A5. Will definitely return.
