Peaceful site

We stayed here over October half term and had a lovely peaceful stay.this is a great site for exploring with or without a car. As you are close to the train station and on foot or bike you can go along the canal and up to chirk castle.we enjoyed exploring the beautiful countryside. The site is well kept by the wardens who were out clearing the leaves everyday.the toilet block was clean and warm but looking a bit tired and in need of a refurb. We have a child and although no play area there is an area of grass next to the toilet block where they can play happily with new found friends, the wardens were happy to see kids playing. The wardens are great and friendly and helpful, thank you. We will be visiting again.

Tired 😢😢😢

This is a site we’ve used numerous times a year over the last ten years and it saddens me to write this but the site is desperately in need of the scheduled upgrade ( winter 19 ). On our recent stay the power kept tripping and at one point we were asked by the warden not to use electric, pitches were coned off to to help the situation. Yes it’s now cold so heaters are being used which is required for a site that’s open 365 days a year so that’s no excuse for the poor power supply. The facilities although very clean are next to useless with barely a trickle when using the showers, members don’t expect a power shower but at least a decent shower. We spend best part of £2500 over the course of the year so it’s not too much to ask for the club providing what’s advertised in the handbook. This years not over yet as a few more trips planned so fingers crossed Lady Margaret’s Park can regain its prestige on the network as we believe it’s one of the gems the club has.

Facilities

As stated by previous reviews toilet block although very clean is in desperate need of refurbishing, funnily enough while out walking we spoke to a local who stated that he designed the toilet block 30years ago and agreed that it was probably very outdated, he also stated that a friend of his had used the site and had commented on the same, the site and staff were very accommodating but thier hands were tied. As such we will not be returning any time soon we will probably look for a cl site and use our own facilities

Canoeing

Good site lots of wooded areas good walks, cycle rides, pubs, National Trust and canoeing. Well run and clean but showers looking a little tired. Lots to do in the area, good place for exploring. Definitely go back, the only downside is the gentle hum of the factory 24/7 unless the wind blows in a different direction.

Really enjoyed our first visit

Stayed here for 2 nights, received a lovely welcome at reception and was told we could choose from a number of pitches. We set up on a hard standing pitch there was plenty of room. Thought the facilities were great and the showers and toilets were clean, the site itself is very well kept and has a lovely feel to it, felt relaxed there and it was quiet. We will definitely be returning and would recommend this site.

A little gem in a great location

This is the first time we have stayed at this site and were a little nervous due to recent reviews, however..... Firstly the toilet blocks are perfectly clean, and the showers totally effective - I went in dirty, and came out clean :) There is a children's play area, where children can play. There is no equipment, but a large grassed area, where, with a child's imagination, and no phones or ipads, children can be pirates, cowboys etc (remember those days before computer games). Pack a swingball if you need. There were leaves and twigs on the ground in parts of the park, but they do seem to go hand in hand with trees, which is what you would expect in a rural location. I did see the wardens using a giant hoover to keep this in check, but it is hardly a problem. After all, we are camping.... not staying in a hotel. What I am trying to say is this site is wonderful, in a superb location, and is well looked after. Get booking, when you arrive relax, enjoy the area, and have a glass of wine. Keep smiling. Perfect !!

Done 18 visits but no 19th

Well what can I say but never again Just spent our 18th visit for 7 days here & couldn't believe how rapidly downbank the site has gone. Couldn't sit out on the loungers because of all the branches on the pitch.... had to clear way for the awning to go up. The children's play area has gone which doesn't affect us as have no children with us but , this is advertised as a family site & at weekends there are a lot of families onsite. The toilets were desperately in need of updating, water pressure in the showers was poor ( could have peed faster ) , cobwebs there all week. When booking in I asked what pitches were free & wasn't told the pitches affected by no WiFi due to mast being down from the storms , so after getting all set up I went to reception to tell them our pitch number & was then told there was no WiFi on our pitch. It was obvious from the empty pitches when we arrived last Sunday that other people have the same views as us as previously the site has always been at least half full midweek. It also shows in that the Caravan & Motor home Club have held 2017 prices for 2019 !!!

No longer child friendly showers in need of a upgrade

We've been coming here for 5 years after our visit this year we feel we need a change, the showers are in need of a upgrade (the disabled one in the annex was cold and hardly any water coming out of it) there are no facilities for childern apart from the field and to ride there bikes around the site they could do with a play area, hopefully this will stop people without children complaining about playing on their bikes (perhaps these people should not go on holiday during the 6 weeks holidays or go to a adult site only) we have loved coming here but felt very disappointed this year so unless the facilities change we will not be going again which is a shame as there are some lovely walks by the canal or to the castle.
