Good old Yorkshire

What a lovely site just outside Knaresborough, ideal for walking with lots of footpaths. Explore the history of Knaresborough it will not disappoint but don't tell everyone. And when you've had a busy day it's nice to relax in the Club Bistro for a meal or a drink.

Another excellent visit

Visited 17/12 for three nights and greeted by a fabulously friendly warden, clearly different to the one mentioned in an earlier review. Site was half empty all weekend and spotlessly clean. Toilet block was clean and very warm. The underfloor heating almost burned my feet.  It's a great location for visits to knaresborough town centre. You can walk along the Nidd Gorge, it takes about an hour. Lovely walk along the river and woods. A taxi ride is about £7. Also ideal for visiting Harrogate, 10 mins by car.  I can recommend the Guy Fawkes arms in Scotton village. Just turn right out of the site. It's a five minute walk. Lovely gastro pub. If you go at lunch they have a 2 course special £12.95. Beautiful food and a nice pub with a real fire. Great atmosphere.  I can highly recommend knaresborough club site. Think it's our favourite.

short stay

16th- 18th December, we arrived to the usual friendly welcome of this very clean and tidy site, the toilet block is always very clean, and warm in the winter months, the pitches have ample room and are not too close together, the lighting on site is a little poor, the bus service is also poor with only 4 buses a day, but if the weathers dry its only a 20-30 minute walk into Knaresborough, the road to the site through the town can be tricky, as the road narrows a little, but in general a good base to visit the surrounding attractions, North Yorkshire have to offer, well worth a visit.

Training required

Having used this site many times before, we were disgusted by the rudeness of the warden on duty when we arrived 15 minutes early last weekend. In torrential rain and very high winds, we pulled on to a pitch to wait for the office to open. The greeting of 'what's your problem' by whom we were later informed was a relief warden, was unacceptable. The entrance to the site was completely flooded all weekend and we were told to climb through a hole in the hedge to exit the site. Fortunately, we received the usual warm, friendly greeting in the onsite bistro and after a lovely meal, we decided not to leave the site after all. Perhaps the caravan club needs to review its warden training packages.

Windy Visit

Just had yet another weekend in Knaresborough. The weather was wild but did not put a damper on our weekend. The site is 1 3/4 miles out side of Knaresborough. Quiet location with a lovely bistro on site with plenty of space between pitches. Just a short walk from the site is the Guy Fawkes public house. The hospitality and the food is amazing. Make sure you book as they get very busy

Lovely site

Stayed here for the first time just for a short break. The weather wasn't great but we felt if we enjoyed the site in Winter then we would be back in the Summer. The facilities are good & clean. The site is a little out of Knaresborough but not a problem & plenty of places to get to for days out. There is a bus stop outside the site although we didn't use public transport on this occasion. Like a previous review, there is a little noise from a farm generator nearby. We had a pitch quite a way from it but could still hear it. The Bistro on site is an added bonus. We treated ourselves to a 3 course meal on the last night & really enjoyed it. Ample portions for us, friendly service & the meal was hot, always a good indicator. Can imagine it could be very busy at the height of the season. Cannot rate the facilities for families as it does not apply to us. We will be back at some point.

Knaresborough

This was our first visit to Knaresborough and will definitely not be the last. The weather was windy and cold but this was the only negative. The site was quiet and peaceful apart from the dull background sound from the adjacent farm which went on until 10pm. The staff were friendly and the bar was an added bonus which we used for a quick drink twice. Walking into Knaresborough was a delight and we had a pleasant walk around the town with a coffee in Nero's. We look forward to returning in 2016.

Even awful awful weather did not put us off.

A week of truly awful weather will not put us off visiting Knaresborough again in spring or summer 2016. The amenities were spot on, underfloor heating in the toilet/ shower block a real bonus. Wardens very helpful and very apologetic about the terrible weather, as if they could help it. Knaresborough good for shopping and pubs, The High Street Weatherspoons excellent. Some nice river walks to be experienced on our next visit. The one down side, we were on a pitch at the top of the site, and the noise from the local farms generator was a bit of a pain, it ran till 10pm most nights. All in all we look forward to visiting here again, if we are able to book in to this very popular site.
