Pitches were spacious, but not always level. The site's facilities were clean, with private cubicles, although more shower cubicles would have been appreciated. However, water was hot and heating was good. The site was quiet, although access was made difficult with ongoing roadworks on the main roads used for access. The reception stocked basic necessities, and transport was required for a more adequate range. There was a service point for motorhomes, fresh water was easily obtained, but offloading grey water was a work of art and necessitated significant manoeuvering - lessons could be learnt from waste access design in Europe. However, the bistro was very good. We will return.
Great Improvements
We have visited Knaresborough Club Site several times over the last ten years and returned at the beginning of April after a break of about a year. What a dramatic change! Gone were the unreliable grass pitches and in place are lovely spacious hardstandings. We pitched on one of these opposite the reception which, incidentally was where our tourer got bogged down while trying to reverse onto the sodden grass on our last visit following a stormy week. This was only pitch available at that time but with standing water, mud and protruding tree roots it was more like the everglades.
On our arrival we encountered roadworks with traffic lights at the New Road junction which caused quite a tailback. Once through the lights we had to wait behind other arrivals for a short while but the warden (Michael) got us all moving quickly onto a pitch without needing to get out of the car. He took the club cards from people as they arrived and passed them to his Lady in the office who did all the arrival processing while we pitched. A very efficient system which prevented traffic building up on the road outside.
Saturday started off a dull day with drizzle and a woodpecker rattling away in the tree above our caravan like a DeWalt drill but it brightened up later while we were out exploring Skipton, one of many places worth a visit within easy reach of the site. This site has the bistro and bar which is a great place to eat and meet up with other visitors for a chat over a drink. We were pleased to see Chris was still working there but due to a staff shortage this weekend the warden was standing in as barman, a job which he was well suited to with his bright and chatty attitude.
There are several comments about the arrival time at this site and as mentioned elsewhere it is not before 1 PM. I understand that this is something the club has instructed the warden to do to alleviate traffic problems outside the site and back in the town. As people have discovered, if you arrive early you are not able to pitch and will get turned away so be aware. Indeed, while we were packing up on Sunday morning an early arrival drove in before 12.00 and parked in the waiting bay temporarily blocking the new pitches with vans getting ready to leave.
Summary: A top quality site with bistro and bar, good location and great wardens. Well done, it ticks all the boxes.
Great location
Site is to the usual Club high standards. As others have stated - do not arrive before 1pm as you will be asked to drive away and return. Very handy for Knaresborough - which is lovely.

Do not arrive before 1pm
This is a very clean and tidy site, the new playground is excellent, the shower block is very clean as always on a cc site,a great site for a short break but beware do not arrive before 1pm as you will not be popular and probably turned away.
RETURN VISIT
Visited the site twice last year and only 1 hour from home so a good first try out for the outfit for the new season.
Excellent as usual, wardens very chatty and helpful and a double bonus having the bar and bistro on site.
Site and facilities spotless as usual

Good Weekend
Booked for Two nights, to check everything worked, only 1 hour from home and we know the area well. The wardens are very friendly and helpful, and slow down the pace of life as soon as you arrive, we were given a choice of pitches. and recommended which ones were best suited to a caravan without motor movers, although we can both reverse the rig. (my better half has been on the CC course)
The food in the bistro on Friday evening was excellent, although its a pity the bistro staff aren't more chatty and friendly
Would I use the site again? - YES definitely
Would I use the bistro again - probably not
Mid day
Arrived at 12.30. Didn't,t notice on line 1.00 arrival!
Told to go down road for a few miles, go round roundabout and come back. Plenty of visable empty pitches. Did so followed by others! Arrived back at 12.50. In a queue,! Others who had arrived later were told to wait. Ludicrous, why were we not told to pitch and then check in later. Warden in yellow vest on permerament duty to tell go up road and come back. Silly.
easter break 2016
Our 2nd time on this great little site a bonus as the sun was shinning we did arrive an hour early (12pm) in our old club book it did say 12 but its now 1pm but no problem as we went to the local market in knaresborough weds well worth a visit .as we arrived on site the lady warden was very knowledgeable and lovely taking time out to talk to our children, the place was spotless also a bonus a cracking real ale pub down the road the guy faulks arms
Never revisit again
We had been to Knaresborough a few years back and was looking forward to another visit. This one was totally different. Sept 16th 2015. The staff were horrendously and so rude not only on checking in ( we were 5 mins early) but later on in week motorhome got stuck in mud, we were not offered any help and not even a visit to see how we were getting on. It's a pity as the area is lovely, but will avoid for quite a few years until they have complete change of wardens. Holidays are suppose to be fun ours was ruined by the grumpy staff ...... It has been reported
Easter weekend
