Well What can I say about this lovely friendly site.
Firstly Alan and his lovely wife are the best wardens we have ever met at a CC site. They were on hand from the moment we arrived too early by letting us on site and choosing our pitch to the last evening when we talked Caravan talk in the Bar/Bistro.
The addition of the Bar/Bistro is superb as you meet other like minded people who love to talk about their Caravans. Places to visit - The Bistro for fantastic cheap food. The Guy Fawkes inn 10 minute walk away in Scotton. Bettys at Harrogate and Knaresborough with it's quaint shops. Would recommend this site. All people we met were very friendly. This must say something for the Yorkshire folk and as we were also visiting our daughter in Leeds Uni, this made this site very convenient.
A pleasant site
Just recently back from this site and we had a superb time, very quiet and clean and well run by the wardens Allen & Anne, however on my confirmation e-mail when I booked this site it stated arrivals after 1.00 pm, I was amazed to see a sign in the office requesting arrivals before 1.0pm to find a pitch and come back later to book in. On our departure day (all departures by 12 noon) we were amazed to see caravans and motorhomes arriving from 11.30 am onwards, I would hate to think that I would have met one in the entrance gateway, who would have to reverse???. If it says arrivals after 1.0 pm thuis should be adhered to.
New caravan
We recently took delivery of a new caravan after having a 6 year break from caravanning. For our first trip out (with no kids) we headed to knaresborough. The site is immaculate and clean with lovely hot powerful showers and large level pitches. The wardens were extremely helpful and pleasant. The site bistro wasn't yet open, so we were guided towards the Guy Fawkes Pub for our evening meal. I ve got to say the pub didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was homely and the food excellent. Following a great nights sleep we headed 10 mins down the road to Nidd Gorge for a 6 mile walk. It was lovely and worth the effort. After a pit some for tea and sandwiches, we headed into knaresborough which is very quaint. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon to explore the area further ( especially now the teenagers don't want to come :)
It's our favourite!!
We arrived New Years day for a 3 night break. This is our fourth time at this site but the first time we've been away in December.
We had a lovely time, we ate in the bistro on the last night (Friday) and whilst the menu was limited there was still plenty to choose from and Chris produced the best fish and chips we've had for a long while.
The weather was lovely, we had a run up to Whitby and walked to Knaresborough and back.
We've managed to book for next new year. I'm sure we'll join in the festivities in the bistro although not sure we'll make the 3am folks have mentioned!!
It's a shame this site is closed now as it's such a good base for visiting the surrounding area all year through.
New Year 2014/15
We spent the New Year period here again, already booked for next year, for the fourth year running. This is probably one of our favorite sites as we often return once or twice during the year too. However I feel the Celebrations went on a little too long this year on new years eve in the clubhouse, somebody trying to belt out "Bat out of hell" at 3.30am on the Karaoke (very badly) was a bit much!! But that was the only blot on an otherwise very relaxing break.
The site is very clean and tidy with excellent facilities and great wardens. The Clubhouse/Bistro is normally a quiet oasis where a good well cooked meal can be obtained at a very reasonable price. Looking forward to our next visit maybe around easter time to hopefully do some of the nice walks that are available to do straight from the site.

Why did the Bistro close?
This is a lovely clean site with warm toilet blocks. We arrived on Friday and after looking around nearby shops in Knaresborough, we enjoyed a quiet drink in the bar on site. This had a lovely Bistro attached with a good choice of food on the menu, however it did not open on Saturday night for us all to enjoy.
This, however, prompted us to walk just down the road, less than half a mile, and found The Guyfawkes Inn which we can highly recommend for a warm welcome and excellent home made food.
