Very popular and pleasant site

The site is very well situated to enjoy some of Yorkshire's beautiful countryside and attractions such as York with its excellent park & rides. The site is very well maintained by the friendly wardens and is generally quiet although where we were pitched there was noise from a generator or the like from the early hours until late, which emanated from a nearby 'farm'. Unlike others we were not impressed by the food at the Bistro but perhaps we were just unlucky with our choice!

Knaresborough visited May 2015

Excellent site, and very friendly and helpful wardens, very good about local walks. Great walk through Nidd gorge and Knaresborough itself is within walking distance (about 35 to 40 mins). We met some friends staying locally and visited Fountains Abbey, highly recommended, and Grassington, a little further afield, where we do some walking. i gather the annual bed race is worth watching, we saw a lot of practising going on!

Can't fault Knaresborough

Really nice site and wardens, Must admit , did arrive ten minutes early due to lighter traffic than anticipated, was second in line. Would recommend the Bistro we used it twice, food and beer very good and reasonably priced compared to outside pubs. Easy walk into town, lots to see, caught the bus back which takes dogs and is wheelchair/mobility scooter friendly,bus stop at main gate. Guy Fawks pub does good food and beer though we found it dearer than the Bistro on site. Will return for longer next time. Oh nearly forgot, milk is sold in bottles as it used to be.

probabley the best yorkshire site READ THE RULES

Having visited this site when I can get in I find I need to defend the wardens who have a nightmare every day through people who just don't read the allowed check in time (CLUB RULES NOT THEIRS ) I have a motor home and have met the early bird on the entrance to the site I was towing a smart car there was no where for me to go however I was leaving at the correct time the other person was coming too early and should have read the rules however if I were not to leave before twelve as I should I am so sure they would MOAN all you have to do is read the site info and all the times are stated the wardens work really hard to make this site as great as it is give them the respect they deserve and just read the SITE INFO FOR ARRIVAL TIMES as for the bistro on site top notch the atmosphere is there if you want it the food is great and not expensive wish more sites had a CHRIS and Bistro In short cant wait to return TO ALL THE GUYS AND GAL ON SITE GREAT JOB WELL DONE CANT WIAT TO RETURN CHEERS

Very disappointed

We have stayed here last year n had a lovely time, however this year when we arrived at noon we were told by the wardens that the regional manager had changed the time this year to one o clock and that, as there are no lay-bys we would have to go back through knaresborough to the coach park and wait till 1. The town is very busy on normal days the road leading to the caravan park is very narrow with steep inclines and hair pin bends which doesn't make for easy travelling on normal days but on Saturday 20th June when the main road through Harrogate was closed, due to a bike ride, therefore all traffic was diverted through knaresborough getting through there once was very stressful and being expected to do that another two times was very upsetting. It took the warden longer to turn us away than it did to take payment and therefore book us on, so thank you for spoiling what should have been a restful two nights away from work at the NHS for me. Very impressive site

Just spent a weekend and were very impressed with this site. Friendly wardens, spotlessly clean, well maintained pitches and lovely surroundings. On site bar was a bit pricey though but barman very friendly. We especially enjoyed scones with jam and clotted cream from the shop! Would recommend site to friends.

LOVELY SITE

Just returned after a lovely week here. The site is lovely & well kept. The relief wardens were lovely, friendly & very helpful & worked really hard to keep the site to a very high standard. Its situated just outside of Knaresborogh but it is easy to walk into either by road or through Nidd Gorge, which is a woodland walk taking you by the river. There is also a bus stop outside the site. In the village of Scotton where the site is situated there is a lovely pub called the Guy Fawkes. The landlord bar staff & locals were all friendly & welcoming. Although we didn't eat there it is apparently very reputable. I would suggest that you book though before trying as it gets very busy. The site itself was full all week & it seems it is like that most of the time. Now the only bad point for us was the onsite Bistro. I would advise when you book a table that you ask if there is a full menu on the night you are going. I went in to book a table on the Wed for the Fri evening & was not advised that it was a "fish & chip night only". My son doesn't eat fish & when we asked for the menu we were told he could have either steak pudding or lasagna. He wasn't the only one either as a few other customers seemed to pick the "steak pudd" same as my son did. When it was brought to him he was told "this is for the awkward one". In our opinion I should have been warned at the time of booking that it was "fish only" & no menu. Although we will return again to the site we won't be using the Bistro again. As for the site I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Great site

Just came back from 1 week break at the end of May food in bistro was good but a bit expensive great dog walk but only 1 downfall is that the gate for it is right beside the play area and is always unlocked which is a bad thing with the things are these days with kids going missing but all as a whole a really great site and look forward to going back soon

Bank Holiday relaxation

We arrived on the Friday of the late May Bank Holiday to find a very quiet, peaceful site with a choice of pitches, although this did not last long as the site soon filled up and by early evening was full. The site was clean and tidy and the wardens were working hard to keep up appearances. Well done to them. On Saturday morning an outfit arrived soon after 11am and was turned away, we noticed they came back again after the stipulated 1pm arrival time! Both Knaresborough and Harrogate were both worth a visit, Knaresborough having small independent shops (with a superb bakers/cake shop) and Harrogate having more choice and being 'split' with the old town with the Victorian frontages and the 'new' part with the pedestrianised shopping precinct. The bistro on site is a bonus, we believe it was value for money, the food was very good, hot and served within a reasonable time, no delays. We will be back for a further visit.

Great site

Lovely site great location,nice river walks from site.Friendly hard working wardens have made the site much nicer than on our last visit.No arrivals before 1pm due to the site being so busy and limited access.Was good to see the warden turn early arrivals away so all members are treated equality.Be aware if you arrive early on this site you will be asked to return at 1pm
