Large Pitches

Knaresborough site is well positioned for Harrogate, Nidderdale, Brimham Rocks (a must visit) & of course Knaresborough itself! Road between site & Knaresborough is narrow on approaches to the town. The site has many large hard standing pitches which gives a spacious feel. They are tiered & level. Some grass pitches appear to be sloping; large camping area at top of site. Water pressure in showers somewhat lacking. There is a small bistro restaurant on site which was rather disappointing with just one slice of beef for the Sunday roast & a jam roly poly pudding that was the thinnest I've ever seen. Serves one real ale in reasonable condition but this was a bit short on measure. However a good site & worth a stay with the good points outweighing the bad.

Knaresborough

A lovely site and very well kept. Very good eating places nearby. Bus service is poor and very expensive, return fare to Horrowgate for two was £15 and is only about 6 miles away. Wi-Fi is a bit hit and miss. Cycling from the site is fairly good but a bit hilly.

Fab site

Our second visit to this lovely little site and once again we weren't disappointed. Having 2 small boys the spaces right next to the play park are brilliant as the kids can run freely between caravan and park without us worrying about the road, there's also a huge expanse of grass for them to play on while we sit back and relax with them in clear view. Restaurant/bar on site is lovely and staff are very friendly. We've seen comments from others re the noise from the generator in the farm next door but this didn't bother us, it was a constant hum which soon disappears into background noise and you don't even notice it. It's gone by 9:45pm so no issue re sleeping etc. Will definitely be visiting again.

Not if you like peace and quiet.

If the warning about agricultural noise from the adjacent field had been on the website when I booked at the start of the year, I wouldn't have booked. It is intrusive, like a nagging toothache, and spoiled our stay. You would probably be alright nearer to the site entrance, but on the field next to the children's play area, it was loud and constant from morning until after 9 o'clock at night. Sadly, something like that colours one's whole view of a site, and we won't be going back again for fear of finding, as we did this time, that the only free pitches were on the play field. We have never been disappointed with a Club site before, but this one breaks the mould. One wonders why the club has not taken up the matter of noise pollution with the Local Authority - it's that bad!

Yorkshire Gem

Only spent one night here but will certainly go back.  A well kept site with usual spotless amenities and an innovative team, providing a Bistro and Bar for members, with the best value fish and chips we have had in a long time!!  Lovely site, lovely people.

Arrival Times

Some people always arrive early. Should now be aware that a board is positioned daily to prevent caravan access to the site before 1pm. Early arrivals will now have to park in a dangerous position out on the road. Wonder how long it will be before somebody takes an interest in this obstruction.

Avoid the play area

Our first visit to this site, stayed 2 nights before heading north. Pitched near the play area - big mistake the farm next door ran a generator most of the day up to 9 pm (both days).. If this happens regularly would highly recommend not pitching in this field.. Apart from that the site it self is first class and the wardens very friendly..

Needs some TLC

Stayed here now for the second time.  The location is great and normally a quiet site  We backed onto the adjoining permanent holiday home site so we got to enjoy our neighbours music from there and our own CC neighbours until around 10pm but then thankfully they both turned it down - they were competing for who could play it the loudest I think.  The toilets block only have 30 minutes closed so that would explain why the toilets and shower block felt grubby and they club need to invest in some better drainage and floor tiling. There were kids on the site but the playground is virtually non existent - perhaps this sites target market isn't families?  We didn't use the Bistro so can't comment.  Wardens on arrival and around the site were friendly and chatty.  We would stay here again because of the location but just wear flip flops in the shower until things improve.

Nice site needs some sensible modifications

We are currently on this site and very nice it is. If coming from North on A1M I prefer to leave at the J50 and follow A61 past Ripon and approach site that way which avoids having to drive through Knaresborough and the tight route out of the town. We prefer grass pitches and we are on one now, but I have to say the positioning of some of the electric bollards is ridiculous. We are on pitch 56 and there is a bollard right next to us, but we have to use one on the opposite side of the pitching area and given that our inlet is on the nearside we have to drive over our electric cable every time we use our car. We have also seen several people be unable to access bollards because they are so far away. The club needs to rationalise the positioning of these bollards (i.e. spend a few quid). There is a childrens play ground but although it has space for more things, there is only a slide. That won't keep little ones amused for long. Again spend a few quid and put in some swings, see saws etc. I'm sure CC can afford it. For some reason there's an annoying little gate at the side of the toilet block which serves no purpose other than to irritate when negotiating with aquaroll and waste. Why not just move it. There's been comments here about the 1pm arrival time and I have supported the wardens on this until today when we saw several vans being allowed on site well before 1pm which was odd as the other day there was a dispute at the entrance when they made a couple wait 45 mins before letting them on at 1pm. So why were exceptions made today? If you stay on some pitches, particularly the grass ones adjacent to the footpath (it is a public footpath, not the sole property of the farm) be prepared for a compressor on the farm running most of the day until about 9:30pm. We got used to it but some people might not. So generally this is a very nice site in a great location. However because it does have some niggling issues which would be easily and inexpensively sorted out it the club bothered to, it doesn't rate 5 stars as only a perfect site should merit 5 stars. It gets a creditable 4
