Great site

Just came back from 1 week break at the end of May food in bistro was good but a bit expensive great dog walk but only 1 downfall is that the gate for it is right beside the play area and is always unlocked which is a bad thing with the things are these days with kids going missing but all as a whole a really great site and look forward to going back soon

Bank Holiday relaxation

We arrived on the Friday of the late May Bank Holiday to find a very quiet, peaceful site with a choice of pitches, although this did not last long as the site soon filled up and by early evening was full. The site was clean and tidy and the wardens were working hard to keep up appearances. Well done to them. On Saturday morning an outfit arrived soon after 11am and was turned away, we noticed they came back again after the stipulated 1pm arrival time! Both Knaresborough and Harrogate were both worth a visit, Knaresborough having small independent shops (with a superb bakers/cake shop) and Harrogate having more choice and being 'split' with the old town with the Victorian frontages and the 'new' part with the pedestrianised shopping precinct. The bistro on site is a bonus, we believe it was value for money, the food was very good, hot and served within a reasonable time, no delays. We will be back for a further visit.

Great site

Lovely site great location, nice river walks from site.Friendly hard working wardens have made the site much nicer than on our last visit. No arrivals before 1pm due to the site being so busy and limited access. Was good to see the warden turn early arrivals away so all members are treated equality.Be aware if you arrive early on this site you will be asked to return at 1pm

Lovely site BUT

This is a lovely, clean, well maintained site, lots of birdsong to enjoy too.  However if you enjoy peace and quiet, this is not for you.  We were pitched next to the farm track, or race track as it could be named.  We were woken every day at 5.30am when a generator was switched on and the noise usually lasted until 11pm.  The JCB and banging of what sounded like oil drums just added to the din at the weekend.  Despite removing my two hearing aids the din could still be clearly heard. I was also disappointed to find that dogs are allowed into the Bistro, meaning those of us who suffer severe allergic reactions, ie life threatening asthma attacks, triggered by dogs could not use the Bistro.   However the food at the fairly near Malt Shovel was outstanding. Lastly a plea to fellow members, when we are asked not to arrive before 1pm there is a good reason why.  The number of outfits arriving even before noon was unbelievable and it is most annoying to go out for the morning and return to find it is impossible to access the site because the entrance is blocked by inconsiderate members.

Lovely site

We really enjoyed our few days stay here at the end of April. The site is maintained to a very high standard. We pitched by the farm track which was a real mistake, very noisy vehicles race up and down throughout the night. The site doesn't have a dog walk just access to the farm track. We tried the Bistro once but found it very expensive for both drinks and food. We can really recommend the Guy Fawkes pub in Scotton. The best pub food we have ever eaten and the staff were lovely.

Great Break

We stayed for 5 nights 19-24 April and found the relief wardens very friendly and helpful, the location provides good access to Scotton and Knaresborough. The site is well kept and the tree maintenance crew worked well during our stay, we also had exceptional weather, which made the stay even better. Please note that due to the experience of arrivals at all times between 12 -1pm the wardens are maintaining the arrival at 1pm for everyone which is good to know and if held consistently will be appreciated. Lovely site and one not to be missed.

Easter Break

A really friendly welcome! That always gets things off on the right foot. A well maintained site with all the facilities we needed. The bistro/bar (which we didn't use) was a real surprise - it seemed very popular. Really level pitches with plenty of space. Would readily return if in the area. Knaresborough is walkable from the site and the walk can be taken through woodland or by road. The local bus stop is also right outside the site.

Lovely Site

This is a lovely site. Bistro on site which we didn't try, but looked very nice. Turn right out of the site and a 5 min walk takes you to a lovely little pub selling good food called the Guy Falkes Arms.  A must is the walk into Knaresborough down the river weather permitting as it can be muddy. Trains in Knaresborough to Harrogate every half hour and the trip takes only 8 mins. Nice dog friendly pubs in Knaresborough - Worlds End and The Mitre. Also recommend a trip to Fountains Abbey National Trust site. My only gripe about the site would be the que for the showers on a busy weekend. 4 showers wasn't enough, never understand why they have double the amount of toilets to showers. Surely 3 toilets is sufficient on any site!
