Gem of a site

Stayed here for the first time and was not disappointed, its a lovely site and well laid out. Arrival and checkin was good and the wardens were very helpful particularly when advising walks and cycle routes. The site has a small bar and tried it out a few times, a nice bonus and more sites should have these. Took a nice walk to nidd gorge and then onto Harrogate and back to Knaresborough. The walk follows the river for a large part of it, but you do need boots, then onto an open space before getting onto an old railway track which then arrives in Harrogate. Will definately return to this site

Superb Site, well located

Stayed here (2nd time but not the last time) for the Tour of Yorkshire Cycle Race.... easy to get to from the A1, easy walk into Knaresborough too. The race went past the end of the road, but I rode out from the site to another location. Great area for all kinds of activities and a new play area for children on site. Facilities were the usual Caravan Club standard and the wardens were very helpful above and beyond their remit. My family joined me over the weekend and also enjoyed the site, the Bistro was fabulous too for Sunday roast.  Will be back....

Very nice smaller site

Stayed just one night on our trip north. Everything on the site was neat and tidy, and we were welcomed with a smile.

Facilities were likewise clean, so no complaints there either.  The dog walk is actually a bridleway alongside the site, and is probably quite muddy in the winter but was fine on our visit.

This is a nice little site, and we'd certainly visit again.

Rude Warden

How can this Warden get away with being so rude to so many  customers who arive early. We came in February and got the same treatment, Its his rude manner that needs addressing. May be he needs to go on a Customer Care Course.

Good site spoiled by welcome

Having booked in advance and received a booking acknowledgement, which gave a checking in time of between 12.00 and 2.00, we did not read further down the page which in smaller print gave a earliest arrival time of 1.00. As a result we arrived at the previously stated time of 12.00 and were told in no uncertain terms we would have to leave and find ways of using up a hour with our van in tow and return at 1.00. It was even suggested that we reversed our outfit to leave rather than circuiting the site to the exit. As we were exiting the site other campers told us they had had the same experience. Not the most welcoming start to our stay. Apart from that the only other thing to mar our stay were two badly cooked fish on our fish and chip supper in the on site restaurant. The restaurant did remove one of the meals from the bill, but we would have preferred a well cooked meal instead. Will we go back again? No, there is more to a good site than excellent pitches and a good toilet block.

Great Site

We stayed a night at this site and it is a very nice site. The site was clean and tidy. It was so nice to see a Caravan Club site with a bar/bistro. Hopefully there will be more to follow.

Nice site

A very nice site. Clean and tidy and friendly staff. Could do with some signage when reception closed as had to rely on fellow camper to direct us to warden as we arrived on a Sunday afternoon. Bistro  excellent and well recommended. Dog walking not the best but adequate with dog bins available.

Great site but the dog walk is poor

This is a lovely site with spotless toilet block etc. The warden could not be more helpful. I had a problem with my caravan and he came to help and found the phone number of a local caravan fitter who sorted the problem on the phone. The play area for children is just about the best I have ever seen. The only thing that lets it down is the dog walk which is a very muddy lane outside the site which is the access point for the farm behind the site. There is an area around the camping field which could be adapted as a dog walk- come on Caravan Club- it is shame that I have to award only 3 stars for facilities.  If you do not have a dog then the facilities are brilliant. We chose a pitch which backed onto the farm lane and although there is a warning about farm noise we did not expect it at 5am !
