So good we went back

An excellent site in a good location convenient to Knaresborough and Harrogate. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed on our way to Scotland and enjoyed it so much we went there on our return.

Lovely site

Staff very friendly and helpful. however we were very disappointed that the Bistro was closed on a Tuesday evening. This was the main reason we booked onto this site. so think it should be advertised more clearly when the opening times are.

Nice quiet site in a nice area

This is a nice site with all the usual club facilities. The new playground area is much better and well used but not overly noisy. The washing up area could do with a deep clean and a shelf installing above the sink. The arrival time is a pain, it is very difficult to time an arrival to 1pm and as you want to make the most of your first day you want to be as close to that time as possible but even 10 minutes early and you are sent packing to drive around the area. This is unnecessary as when we arrived there were a lot of empty pitches and arrivals could just be allowed to pitch up.

Motorhoming at Knaresborough

Pitches were spacious, but not always level. The site's facilities were clean, with private cubicles, although more shower cubicles would have been appreciated. However, water was hot and heating was good. The site was quiet, although access was made difficult with ongoing roadworks on the main roads used for access. The reception stocked basic necessities, and transport was required for a more adequate range. There was a service point for motorhomes, fresh water was easily obtained, but offloading grey water was a work of art and necessitated significant manoeuvering - lessons could be learnt from waste access design in Europe. However, the bistro was very good. We will return.

Great Improvements

We have visited Knaresborough Club Site several times over the last ten years and returned at the beginning of April after a break of about a year. What a dramatic change! Gone were the unreliable grass pitches and in place are lovely spacious hardstandings. We pitched on one of these opposite the reception which, incidentally was where our tourer got bogged down while trying to reverse onto the sodden grass on our last visit following a stormy week. This was only pitch available at that time but with standing water, mud and protruding tree roots it was more like the everglades. On our arrival we encountered roadworks with traffic lights at the New Road junction which caused quite a tailback. Once through the lights we had to wait behind other arrivals for a short while but the warden (Michael) got us all moving quickly onto a pitch without needing to get out of the car. He took the club cards from people as they arrived and passed them to his Lady in the office who did all the arrival processing while we pitched. A very efficient system which prevented traffic building up on the road outside. Saturday started off a dull day with drizzle and a woodpecker rattling away in the tree above our caravan like a DeWalt drill but it brightened up later while we were out exploring Skipton, one of many places worth a visit within easy reach of the site. This site has the bistro and bar which is a great place to eat and meet up with other visitors for a chat over a drink. We were pleased to see Chris was still working there but due to a staff shortage this weekend the warden was standing in as barman, a job which he was well suited to with his bright and chatty attitude. There are several comments about the arrival time at this site and as mentioned elsewhere it is not before 1 PM. I understand that this is something the club has instructed the warden to do to alleviate traffic problems outside the site and back in the town. As people have discovered, if you arrive early you are not able to pitch and will get turned away so be aware. Indeed, while we were packing up on Sunday morning an early arrival drove in before 12.00 and parked in the waiting bay temporarily blocking the new pitches with vans getting ready to leave. Summary: A top quality site with bistro and bar, good location and great wardens. Well done, it ticks all the boxes.

Great location

Site is to the usual Club high standards. As others have stated - do not arrive before 1pm as you will be asked to drive away and return. Very handy for Knaresborough - which is lovely.
