OK .... BUT

Stayed for 7 nights in September. Great site. Very good facilities, large pitches, good access, good location to very many lovely places. Pity about the (regular) Wardens. Very "Jobs Worth" when arriving before 1.00pm (accidentally). Hooray for the Relief Wardens who are able to apply common sense! Dog walk not too good, as it's a muddy farm track when it rains.

Good site as before

Stayed for 3 nights in early September. Wardens very helpful and friendly. Booked in just AFTER 1.00pm as required----no problems!!! Lovely site, spotless facilities and good food in the Bistro all as our last visit. Will return again. Badgerbutton

Always a Delight

It's always delightful to return to this site but afraid we made a bad mistake with timing of arrival. We arrived too early not realising it was a 1pm arrivals site but the warden was very understanding and kindly directed us to a "holding" spot where we could wait out the hour. Silly us. Site is terrific. Perfectly situated to explore North Yorkshire. Toilets are immaculate and the grounds are very well kept. From the looks of them there have been some wonderful flower beds, now long finished. Great kids play area at the top of the site and if you're a dog owner, a fantastic little lane for the dog to run free. Just be careful of escaping sheep. We ended up acting as shepherds to a flock that had found a hole in the fence and decided to take a hike. Fortunately our dog is trained not to chase other animals. We'll certainly be back again but at the correct time.... :>))

Tour de Yorkshire

We stayed at Knaresbrough on the outward bound leg of our tour de Yorkshire in the motor home and enjoyed it so much we amended our plans to stay again on the return leg. Friendly warden who did a great job under what can only be trying circumstances - someone was staying who had a constantly barking dog and it may have been the same group, a very noisy child. Aside from that, we loved the Bistro, food was great - portions were huge and the steward was excellent entertainment.....he really should have been on stage. Facilities spotless and not overcrowded. look forward to staying again but hope the planned expansion does not ruin it as the 'character' of the place is our main draw. No sure it is suitable for families as few facilities for children as far as i could see

September Holiday

We stayed here 1 night as part of a 2 week holiday in our motorhome. Good directions to the site. A smallish site, with the pitches neatly laid out but a bit regimented compared to some other sites. Facilities were good although we didn't use the bistro it looked very nice. Warden's welcome was fine, although we did get told about our slight mis-parking of our motorhome and needed to move to be better aligned with the peg - first time this ever happened. There is a pub within a short walk with excellent food

Welcome addition is the bistro/bar

Stayed here for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The bistro/bar is a welcome addition. Didn't try the food but it looked good and there were plenty eating in there. Spotless facilities. Loved the location. Knaseborough is a lovely town. Will defiantly try this site again. Would have liked to come back for Easter but I believe they are applying for permission to extend the site and have been told it will be closed from January to August so will have to come back in 2018.unless it's opened before then.

Peace & Quiet, with a Bistro

Stayed here for a week in September, excellent weather made it, but the site is clean & tidy. there is a Cracking Bistro on site for Food and Beer (plus other alcohol). We cycle a lot and this is a great base for some 30 mile routes on lovely roads. Ripon, Ripley Knaresborough & Harrogate are all easy to get to on minor roads or cycle paths. Newby hall & Fountains Abbey worth a look too. Great site - we will be back !!

Wonderful site

Unlike the other people writing reviews we always check time of arrival in the book as they do differ slightly.. Arriving at the correct time we received a very warm and friendly welcome, which was the same every time we met the wardens during our stay.  We find the location ideal for some wonderful walks around the gorge and along the river side with lots of nice places to visit in the area. Looking forward to our next visit there

Bloody Minded warden

We arrived at12.45, Met by warden who sent us out back on to the Road for 15 mins? With pitches on site 'EMPTY' (and you choose your pitch) All he had 2 do was Take your Membership Card, (as they did anyway) and say either sat there, or park in late arrivals. Others who arrived AFTER US were let in at 10 2 1, Favourites?. If I were the warden I would just have said .wait there or find a Pitch to wait on for the time up to 1 pm and come back to the office .The whole episode spoilt our first Day after a long Drive. Being exactly on time over a long journey is not easy. VERY POOR WARDEN Control . Give me the job .
