Beautiful Yorkshire on the doorstep.

Lovley little campsite within walking distance of the beautiful town of Knaresborough. The wardens were very friendly and welcoming on arrival, the site was small but great for couples and families with small children. The on-site bistro was closed while we were there but it looks like a great little addition to the site with very reasonably priced food.

Lovely Site ... But ...

This is a great site in a great location - we stopped for two nights on the way to the North East. Unfortunately we had a real issue with the site warden which took the shine of the stay. We arrived at 12.35pm having read the standard cc booking confirmation, not realising that actually check-in was from 1pm. As soon as we pulled up (behind an equally naughty caravan) the warden informed us that we were 'far too early'. We thought he was joking but alas, no - there was no option but to move off-site for 25 minutes. There was no offer to wait in the reception check-in area or on the adjacent car park. I know that people turning up early is an ongoing problem but for 25 minutes, really ? It's about time this chap was reminded that the club is for club members and his ideas of self-importance are nothing but officious. There were at least half the pitches free when we finally dared to return an hour later. When you remember that most pitched are vacated by 10am or earlier, I don't know what this man had to do that was so important.

A peaceful retreat

We had a fantastic 6 nights at this site and found the wardens extremely helpful, especially as we had a problem with our caravan and they gave us a contact to try and resolve the issue. We made contact with a mobile engineer and he turned out to us and repaired the problem at a modest cost. Will definitely visit here again. Graham and Pat Dow Staffs.

Idyllic.......

My friend and I had a wonderful 2 nights stay here... I am a newbie to this game and learned an awful lot of things.... I was " made" to reverse my caravan in ha ha ha by the lovely ccl man. I was so scared of doing it but I'm so thankful to him for taking the time to show me how to reverse, I was overwhelmed by the sense of achievement! I will be going again as 2 days wasn't long enough.Thank you.

Great stay....again

Must say this is our favourite site. The benefit of the bistro makes it even better. Despite the fact Chris had worked on his own for 4 weeks and 3 days, he was still his normal pleasant self. The facilities are first class, only down side was we couldn't saty longer.

Lovely site

Always a pleasure to return to this well kept site with friendly and helpful wardens. A well situated site with easy walking along the Nidd Gorge, or bus into Knaresborough. We love the fact the shower block is always so warm unlike many other club sites - thank you.

Good few days

We received a warm welcome from the wardens after making sure we didn't arrive before 1pm!  A nice peaceful and very well kept site.  The facilities were good and it was great for the dogs with good access to the bridle path which runs alongside the site.  Only downside were the too numerous rabbits!!

Arrived 25 minutes early and forced to leave

Didn't realise that this site had 13:00 arrival time and got there at 12:35. Warden made us leave the site despite the surrounding roads being very narrow. Don't understand the previous comment regarding queues as we were the only people waiting and there was plenty of space for several units to queue. We were informed that the later arrival time was so that the wardens could have a lunch break but don't understand this either as small sites like Garlieston manage to keep to the noon arrival time. While we were waiting on the lane outside the site another unit had arrived which wasn't turned away and had booked in and paid when we drove back on at 13:02. Are there different rules for different members? We have an elderly motorhome rather than a double axle caravan with pickup truck/range rover.

A weekend away in October 2016

Friendly staff on arrival and a small but peaceful site. We tried the recommended cycle route, which for a Relatively new comer to this activity, was a bit scary on the quieter but narrower roads. I was glad to arrive back and on reflection I did enjoy the ride. We then walked into knareborough along the dog walk and this was about 6 mile and again very enjoyable. We didn't try the restaurant but it did smell nice as we passed by. The showers were good with under floor heating. We didn't have any children, but the new furnished play area looked amazing and catered for the older children. We will return to this site.
