Great little site

Just enjoyed a 2 night break on the Knaresborough site. Stayed here once before some 8 or 9 years ago and have tried many times since to get on but it's always been fully booked, it's that popular. As compensation for our long wait to get on, we were allocated a fully serviced pitch so it was really nice to be able to connect up our caravan directly to the water supply and forget about our barrels. Pity we hadn't bought our long waste hose though! The heating in the toilet block is wonderful, though we did find it a little overpowering as the weather warmed up as the weekend went on. Went to Ripley on the Saturday intending to visit the castle, only to discover that dogs are not permitted, even in the grounds so that was that. Explored Knaresborough in the afternoon - a charming little place I thought with great views over the Nidd valley from the castle grounds. All in all, we had a great weekend and will be looking to stay here again sometime (if we can get on!).

Lovely Autumn Break

Spent five nights here and really enjoyed our stay even though we had snow our first night! Wardens friendly facilities lovely ,clean and warm the underfloor heating is great. Had some good walks Knaresborough via the Nidd Gorge straight from the site, Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey, as thankfully the weather improved. The dog walk is onto a Bridleway which is very good but also very muddy! Visited the Bistro twice and really enjoyed it, great to have that facility on site. I see the Club have applied for planning permission to extend the site, add more pitches some fully serviced and also to rebuild reception and Bistro. Not sure if the plans get passed when that will happen. We will definitely visit again as only a short journey of about an hour for us.

2 night stay.

A lovely site with friendly wardens. Nice hard standing pitches, toilet block nice and clean. The bistro on site looked very welcoming but unfortunately for us they were unable to accept card payment on the first night of our stay and we're misteriously not open as advertised on our second night.

Where to eat

This is a great site, in a lovely area. The local pub, the Guy Fawkes Arms, is exceptional: food, drink, atmosphere, and friendly staff.....perhaps the sites' Bistro manager needs to visit and take heed; he was unwelcoming, and unprofessional towards us. Our stay was marred by this encounter.

One night stay

we received a warm welcome to site for our one night stay.  We have been looking at this site for a late getaway for a while but its always been busy - now we know why; its in a great location.   We were looking to try the local pub for an evening meal but it was fully booked - no problem, it turns out the on site bistro serves great food and beer.   We enjoyed the visit and will return.

Enjoyable Stay

We had a very warm welcome from the wardens and the site - considering that there are just two wardens - has been maintained to a very high standard. They are certainly a credit to the Club.

October half term break

We really enjoyed our stay in this ideally located site. Great for access to Harrogate & York and surrounding areas. Our children enjoyed playing in the park and riding their bikes in safe areas. Definately a site that we would return to

Nice little site

Just returned from a four night stay, great little site wardens really friendly and nice and as usual really helpful, road noise was noticeable which is why I have scored it 4 instead of 5 , really nice walks along the river into Knaresbrough. We visited the court house ,workhouse and police museums in Ripon which was brilliant value and a great day out. The only downside as previously commented on was the bar and bistro. We arrived there at 6.30pm with only two other people in the conservatory. My wife and young daughter sat down and when I went to the bar I was told that they were fully booked and could not have any food as the chef was on his own doing everything. It was a disappointment but we went to the Fayre and Square nearby and had a great meal 3 courses for less than a main at the bistro. In knaresbrough I can recommend the Mitre pub for food and drink but DONT go to the Worlds End awful place and smells. Will definitely return as still much to see and do in the area. Overall a really good break.

October half term

6 night stay with teenage daughters. Lovely walking from site to both Knaresborough (allow 1.5 hours) and Harrogate (allow just over 1.5 hours). Knaresborough was by far our favourite town of the two - Wednesday market day. Great second hand record shop in Knaresborough for vinyl collectors. Pub, The Guy Fawkes Inn, in local village of Scotton is 5 minute walk away - fine ales and a friendly welcome. Site very clean and well run. Wardens friendly and helpful. Getting into York is easy 25 minute drive to a well signposted, very organised and cheap park and ride, on an electric bus!
