A 2 day stopover before Christmas

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way to Hawes where we were spending Christmas. The site was extremely quiet which suited us. The ratings given reflect this. The facility block was one of the warmest we have ever used and was kept to usual CC standards. We ate at the Bistro on the second night and found the food good value. The real ale was also very good. Plenty of places to see nearby and we took the bus to Knaresborough - the stop is right outside the site. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Simply amazing

The site is very well maintained in a superb location. This being our first time at a CC site we really did not know what to expect. The pitch was very level and very spacious. The toilet block was lovely and warm, and very clean, Reception staff were very friendly and very helpful. Cannot wait to stay again!

Massive potential to this site but many missed opportunities!

We have stayed at Knaresborough on two separate occasions this November 2016. Its a lovely site in a good spot. Many superb attractions such as Brimham Rocks, Ripon, Fountains Abbey etc. On this occasion I presumed that we could arrive at 12 as the website booking indicated arrival time between 12 and 2pm. The warden was not happy and told us to leave the site and come back at one despite the site the site being only half full. A warm cheery welcome can make such a difference when you arrive at a site after travelling. As for the bistro it misses out so much on its potential through lacklustre management and food quality which again lacked that extra something that would make you want to return. The site needs friendliness and sparkle just to give it that 'wow' factor. Anyway grumbles over it is a great site overall with good large level pitches and all other usual facilities up the expected standard. we will return and would recommend the site despite the niggles which I have pointed out.

I've Got a Uniform..........

Received email confirmation of our booking and arrival time stated on email as 12:00 onwards. We arrived at 12:10 and no-one in office. As there is no barrier at this site we thought we would go onto one of the many vacant pitches, and do the paperwork when the wardens returned. However, as we were on the pitch the warden made his presence known by ordering us off the site, saying our early arrival would annoy other members ! I showed him and his wife the CC's confirmation stating 12:00 as the arrival time but he refused to take any notice, wanting us off the site and to "take it up with the Caravan Club" He was a temporary manager from Hawes, who said that in the 4 days he had been there he had been complained to four times about the same thing !! So what should that tell him?? We were very tempted to leave and not return, but after leaving and booking in at 1:00, they then tried to be VERY pleasant. Sorry, but a bit of common sense is needed in dealing with customers !

Totally ignorant Bistro manager

We were a group of 7 in 3 Motorhomes and a caravan. The site is lovely and the wardens are very friendly. Great under floor heating in toilet and shower block. The Bistro is a great idea and the food is lovely and reasonably priced, but who the hec employed the manager? He is abrupt, rude, sarcastic and totally ignorant.  We ate there 2 nights,  the first night booked a table but the second night we just turned up. After informing us that we would have to wait ages for a table he suddenly found one within 10 minutes then told us we would have to order straight away so we weren't waiting for other people who had booked. Ok it was the right thing to say but his attitude stinks he was so rude!! Then when he wasn't so busy he thought we should chat and joke with him but we had lost our patience by then. If anyone is reading this in authority please sort it out because it lets the site down.  I did mention it to the warden and he said people have complained before so why is he still there???

Great site shame about the Bistro

Stayed at this site 10th - 13th Nov 16 with friends. The site was clean & well maintained & the wardens were friendly, wish I could say the same about the 'Bistro' manager!! He was very unprofessional, sarcastic & unwelcoming! I run a small business & if a member of my staff spoke to a customer in the manor in which he spoke to us, I would have sacked them on the spot. Fortunately it was only a short walk to the Guy Fawkes public house in the local village. All the staff were friendly, polite & helpful & the food was excellent. Highly recommended! Great little site

Just enjoyed a 2 night break on the Knaresborough site. Stayed here once before some 8 or 9 years ago and have tried many times since to get on but it's always been fully booked, it's that popular. As compensation for our long wait to get on, we were allocated a fully serviced pitch so it was really nice to be able to connect up our caravan directly to the water supply and forget about our barrels. Pity we hadn't bought our long waste hose though! The heating in the toilet block is wonderful, though we did find it a little overpowering as the weather warmed up as the weekend went on. Went to Ripley on the Saturday intending to visit the castle, only to discover that dogs are not permitted, even in the grounds so that was that. Explored Knaresborough in the afternoon - a charming little place I thought with great views over the Nidd valley from the castle grounds. All in all, we had a great weekend and will be looking to stay here again sometime (if we can get on!).

Lovely Autumn Break

Spent five nights here and really enjoyed our stay even though we had snow our first night! Wardens friendly facilities lovely ,clean and warm the underfloor heating is great. Had some good walks Knaresborough via the Nidd Gorge straight from the site, Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey, as thankfully the weather improved. The dog walk is onto a Bridleway which is very good but also very muddy! Visited the Bistro twice and really enjoyed it, great to have that facility on site. I see the Club have applied for planning permission to extend the site, add more pitches some fully serviced and also to rebuild reception and Bistro. Not sure if the plans get passed when that will happen. We will definitely visit again as only a short journey of about an hour for us.
