2 night stay.

A lovely site with friendly wardens. Nice hard standing pitches, toilet block nice and clean. The bistro on site looked very welcoming but unfortunately for us they were unable to accept card payment on the first night of our stay and we're misteriously not open as advertised on our second night.

Where to eat

This is a great site, in a lovely area. The local pub, the Guy Fawkes Arms, is exceptional: food, drink, atmosphere, and friendly staff.....perhaps the sites' Bistro manager needs to visit and take heed; he was unwelcoming, and unprofessional towards us. Our stay was marred by this encounter.

One night stay

we received a warm welcome to site for our one night stay.  We have been looking at this site for a late getaway for a while but its always been busy - now we know why; its in a great location.   We were looking to try the local pub for an evening meal but it was fully booked - no problem, it turns out the on site bistro serves great food and beer.   We enjoyed the visit and will return.

Enjoyable Stay

We had a very warm welcome from the wardens and the site - considering that there are just two wardens - has been maintained to a very high standard. They are certainly a credit to the Club.

October half term break

We really enjoyed our stay in this ideally located site. Great for access to Harrogate & York and surrounding areas. Our children enjoyed playing in the park and riding their bikes in safe areas. Definately a site that we would return to

Nice little site

Just returned from a four night stay, great little site wardens really friendly and nice and as usual really helpful, road noise was noticeable which is why I have scored it 4 instead of 5 , really nice walks along the river into Knaresbrough. We visited the court house ,workhouse and police museums in Ripon which was brilliant value and a great day out. The only downside as previously commented on was the bar and bistro. We arrived there at 6.30pm with only two other people in the conservatory. My wife and young daughter sat down and when I went to the bar I was told that they were fully booked and could not have any food as the chef was on his own doing everything. It was a disappointment but we went to the Fayre and Square nearby and had a great meal 3 courses for less than a main at the bistro. In knaresbrough I can recommend the Mitre pub for food and drink but DONT go to the Worlds End awful place and smells. Will definitely return as still much to see and do in the area. Overall a really good break.

October half term

6 night stay with teenage daughters. Lovely walking from site to both Knaresborough (allow 1.5 hours) and Harrogate (allow just over 1.5 hours). Knaresborough was by far our favourite town of the two - Wednesday market day. Great second hand record shop in Knaresborough for vinyl collectors. Pub, The Guy Fawkes Inn, in local village of Scotton is 5 minute walk away - fine ales and a friendly welcome. Site very clean and well run. Wardens friendly and helpful. Getting into York is easy 25 minute drive to a well signposted, very organised and cheap park and ride, on an electric bus!

Beautiful Yorkshire on the doorstep.

Lovley little campsite within walking distance of the beautiful town of Knaresborough. The wardens were very friendly and welcoming on arrival, the site was small but great for couples and families with small children. The on-site bistro was closed while we were there but it looks like a great little addition to the site with very reasonably priced food.

Lovely Site ... But ...

This is a great site in a great location - we stopped for two nights on the way to the North East. Unfortunately we had a real issue with the site warden which took the shine of the stay. We arrived at 12.35pm having read the standard cc booking confirmation, not realising that actually check-in was from 1pm. As soon as we pulled up (behind an equally naughty caravan) the warden informed us that we were 'far too early'. We thought he was joking but alas, no - there was no option but to move off-site for 25 minutes. There was no offer to wait in the reception check-in area or on the adjacent car park. I know that people turning up early is an ongoing problem but for 25 minutes, really ? It's about time this chap was reminded that the club is for club members and his ideas of self-importance are nothing but officious. There were at least half the pitches free when we finally dared to return an hour later. When you remember that most pitched are vacated by 10am or earlier, I don't know what this man had to do that was so important.

A peaceful retreat

We had a fantastic 6 nights at this site and found the wardens extremely helpful, especially as we had a problem with our caravan and they gave us a contact to try and resolve the issue. We made contact with a mobile engineer and he turned out to us and repaired the problem at a modest cost. Will definitely visit here again. Graham and Pat Dow Staffs.
