Our stay at Knaresborgh CC site

Very friendly site with helpful wardens. However we were disturbed by campers of all ages climbing through the dividing fence behind our pitch ( 58) from the grass area.

Wow

Having never been before we were unsure what to expect. The site surpassed all our expectations and the bistro was excellent especially with its special board. Seacroft near Cromer should take note of this. The dog walk was disappointing as it was a farm lane which was filthy. There is scope for a walk on site which would be much better. The wardens were not up to speed with the local area which is unusual. Overall we had a very good holiday and ww will return again.

be aware of the 13.00 rule which applies to some and not others

yet another year at Knareborough , the bar and bistro are excellent. the showers rooms are very clean and generally all well kept . very strange arrival time of 13.00. with being pitched near enough at the entrance we watched people turning up at 12.40 then being turned away for the next turning up at 12.45 being allowed to queue, then by the time the first ones got back there would be 3 or 4 in front of them. one day we watched 2 vans come on at 12.10. One rule for one springs to mind.Last year a board was up at the entrance saying please do not turn in as arrivals not accepted until 13.00. the 5 mph speed limit is not observed alot of the time and needs clamping down on. will return again in a couple of years.

Scope to improve on local information

This site is clean and well looked after. However, the warden could have been better informed on local information. A road closed sign on the approach road should have been referred to when booking. Information on pubs and cafes that take dogs in Knaresborough was poor.

Gem of a site

We chose this site en route back home from up North, we did arrive after the allocated arrival time and had no problem at all checking in, we also had our pick of pitches too.  Facilities were spotless, plenty of toilets, showers and hot water, the Bar & Bistro on site is well worth a visit, food very nice and reasonably priced. The site does have a bus stop 50 yards from the entrance but it only offers a rural service, you can walk into Knaresborough from the site, it took us 30 minutes, there are buses to Harrogate every 7 minutes from town. Well we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Well i don't know where to start with this site. As previous reviews don't arrive till after 13.00hrs. we arrived at 12.40 turned away directed to a park 3 miles away. By the time we got there it was time to come back. This a single warden site why, i am at a loss. How can wardens in this situation 24hrs keep smiling which they don't. The so called BOSS ought to get down there and have a look. It's not always easy to gadge when you will arrive when you allow for traffic and there's not much. So DO NOT ARRIVE B4 13.00HRS. I will give this site a miss in future sorry Boss No barrier for security???

Stop over

Used this site as a stop over before heading further down south.  Lovely site but can I point out that it's a 13.00 entry. Please don't fall out with wardens as its a club decision not theirs.  If you have a complaint about the time take it up the CC.  I would return here toilet spotless and well maintained well done

Quiet site but restricted access at times

Enjoyed our stay with friends at the beginning of August although it was difficult to find this site due to lack of signs especially when approaching from the Ripley direction. Also the wardens strict application of the No Admittance rule before 13.00hrs meant that members who arrived even 30 minutes early were turned away even though there were plenty of vacant pitches. This resulted in a log jam at the narrow entrance when queues developed and even restricted leaving the site until all the booking processes had been dealt with. Maybe a more flexible welcome could be implemented.

Out of town but close enough.

My husband and I visited Knaresborough site in July. The site itself was very good and even had a bar and bistro which was run by the wardens but we didn't manage to try it out. Buses run from just outside the site to Knaresborough and Ripon with connections in both towns to many other places. A walk from the site into Knareborough via the Nidd Gorge is definitely worth doing. Knaresborough itself is a delightful town.

Lovely

We (2 adults, 2 children, 1 dog) just returned from 4 nights (5 days) here at the campsite. We all had an amazing time. The play area is brand new and the kids loved it! The dog walk is a country dirt track/bridle way, but was fine for walking and toileting. The wardens were nice and friendly and the facilities were always clean and tidy. Knaresbrough town is only a mile away, with Mother Shiptons Cave, Boating, Shops etc... the castle grounds are lovely and are free to look round (you only have to pay if you want to go inside the ruins (we didnt) and they also have mini golf in the grounds (great for the kids to play (few quid) whilst we sat and watched on the benches. York: is only approx 40 mins away, lovely shops and visited the 'York Chocolate Story' and the York Railway Museum (free entry to the YRM but £9 parking). We will definitely be returning to this site again.
