Great one night stopover
We last stayed here a few years ago and decided to stop over en route back home. Not far from the A1 and a straightforward route although Knaresborough itself was busy. Friendly welcome and easily found a pitch to our liking. The lane works well for our dogs but it was muddy in places though it had been fairly dry. Facilities spotless and plenty of hot water. Had hoped to sample the bistro (we were too early in the season last time) but it was closed that Thursday although I believe it is usually Tuesdays. Walked to village pub which we understood was dog friendly and did good food (last time they were not doing food that night!), however, on checking about taking the dogs in, we were told that they were not allowed in while food was being served, notwithstanding there were already some dogs in there! Perhaps it was just they did not want more.... Luckily we had enough in the fridge. Anyway, we would happily stay again, but just not have any expectations of being able to eat out locally!
Summer holiday 2016
We were warmly welcomed on arrival and decided to pitch on the grass near to the park and dog walk for the smaller and 4 legged members of the family. The biggest downside to this is the lack of access to a nearby tap and waste water disposal, although there are bins.
The toilets and facilities were very clean as expected and we only had to wait once for a shower during the week.
The main letdown for us were the weeds, brambles and nettles which encroach on pitches and when walking back from filling water in the dark stray brambles gong across the path were a hazard. It wouldn't take much to trim this back a bit and bring this area up to usual site expectations. Going through the dog walk entrance meant more dodging of nettles and branches, not great for night walks. The dog walk is a bridle way/entrance for a cow farm, this leads to the lane becoming very dirty and covered in cow manure, meaning having to wash paws and boots on return. There is a lovely walk around the back of the tent field and play area which would make for a much nicer dog walk.
The park is brilliant and has just been refurbished, and the children had lots of fun.
The entrance to the site did flood when there was a heavy downpour but was gone the next day. We didn't make use of the bar and bistro but the food smelled lovely when walking past.
There is loads to do close-by and a week is not enough for this fabulous part of our country.

We will be back!
I find it fascinating that people visiting the same site within a short space of time, seeing the same site team and experiencing the same facilities and area can have such different views. All part of life's rich tapestry I guess. Here's my contribution.
My husband and I stayed in mid July. We took heed of the warnings to not arrive before 1pm and rocked up just behind two other caravans who had done likewise. We waited in the car a while and when the first of us moved off to find a pitch I went into reception where the second visitor was completing her check in saying she was a frequent visitor. My check in experience was great - I was welcomed and given useful information given that it was our first visit. We left our membership card and were asked to return to confirm our pitch. We had to wait a little while for the two ahead of us to manoeuvre onto their pitches and then had an easy set up on the level pitch we chose (remember your lump hammer - the ground is hard to drive pegs into!). When I went back to reception to report our pitch number just over an hour later I received a warm thank you for doing so (judging by the number of cards she had by this time not everyone does this straight away!). The warnings from others about the narrowness of the road in the last part of the journey through Knaresborough town are well justified. I am new to this towing business and we had the added joy of following and needing to overtake a cyclist but the narrow bits are mercifully short. My guardian angel was looking out for me and we did't meet anything on the way in or out!
So - the site. Regular mowing during the week we were there and the plant life looked well care for with the hedges behind our pitch neatly cut back. Yes there are a few weeds - whose garden doesn't have them at this time of year?! The shower / toilet facilities were in good condition and well looked after. Of course not all those who stay on the site use the mop / squeegee thingy after their shower and some people think its OK to not leave the privacy cubicles as they would like to find them. Not the fault of the club of course. We found the site to have a lovely atmosphere. As always, some want to stop for a chat and some don't want to look you in the eye - thats life! There was a gentle buzz about the place and, apart from on our last evening when a newly arrived group were quite "merry" there was an almost complete silence after 10pm. I guess the size of the site helps with that. Great location. We walked into Knaresborough a few times - lots of great pubs! Of course a week of wall to wall sunshine and the hottest temperatures we have experienced for a while added to the great experience. Who knew you could get a tan in North Yorkshire?! We had a lovely week and will come back to this site as it is reachable for a long weekend for us.

Two night stopover
Stayed at the site on our way back from North Wales, as we were in the Motorhome, the bus stop literly outside the entrance is really useful to get to Knaresborough or Harrogate. The former seems to be slowly getting taken over by charity shops if you like that sort of thing, but the town is still worth a visit.
Nice welcome on arrival, and were offered a large pitch to the top end of the site near the toilets, the site was really clean, as others have mentioned the Bistro is really good with excellent food, it did help us we stayed on site on two glorious days which I believe also assists, but we found the site to be ideal, and will be a site we return to.
The only down side is, should you arrive from Knaresborough the road following the traffic lights narrows alarmingly, and true to form I met a 40 foot lorry and we had a real job on to get past one another, be aware I am sure there will have been some mirrors cracked on the wall or oncoming traffic, but once on site you will really enjoy it.
Nice site With Good Walks
We stayed here for just two nights and I have to say contrary to other reviews the greeting was bright and cheerful. The warden on grass-cutting duties also identified the free pitches.
We were pitched directly alongside the Bistro, there is some 'slight' humming from the equipment, but nothing that would keep you awake.
We walked from the site into the town which took us about 50 mins, Knaresborough itself is worth a look around with plenty of coffee shops and is dog friendly.
We did have a take away from the Bistro, but remember to book early for a table and timing for your take away. Food was excellent. It does come fully plated which may surprise.
The only element to note is when you turn at the traffic lights towards the site, the road does narrow some caution maybe required.
Please do take note of the arrival times, which I believe are not correct on the App as there is limited arrival space.

Please can the Club introduce a standard arrival time for all sites and also for members to book the type of pitch they require.
This site has a shortage of shower cubicles at busy times

Grass V Hardstanding
We recently spent 3 nights at this site to allow us to visit The Great Yorkshire Show. Excellent bus link to Harrogate made this very easy, however very disappointed to find that on arrival at 1.10 we were clearly told we would be on a grass pitch. I was a little surprised as this booking was made in March but clearly it's a first come first served on day of arrival.
As it turned out we enjoyed the grass pitch as it was busy on the site and the additional field gave us a little more peace and quiet, and thankfully it was dry during our stay, however having stopped on our journey over to Knaresborough, being aware that others had been turned away for arriving early, it was the manner in which we were told quite clearly that we could take a grass pitch or leave it. Not the most friendly of welcomes at a club site, thankfully the spotless facilities, the added bonus of bistro on site and location for our needs took the blunt edge off our less than welcoming arrival.

Arrival time
What justification is there for not being able to arrive at this site before 1:00 pm, when the vast majority of Club sites allow arrival for 12:00. Why should this site be different ?
