If you like your sites to have lots of grey gravel pitches and a toilet /shower block, you probably wouldn't consider this site, but you will be missing out by not trying a stay on a wonderful little site.
The site is open and spacious with some lovely views.it is split into two fields, the grass pitches are well spaced and as the site wasn't full we had lots of room. Some of the pitches slope, but others are level. There is a large field for dog walking and another one used as a play area for ball games, although there isn't any play equipment.
The village is a 10 minute stroll away with a community shop and pub, the walk back is uphill so may take a bit longer.😉
There is lots to see and do in the area, we liked Mortehoe and the coastal village of Lee was lovely.Ilfracombe is worth a visit, if only to see Damien Hurst 's "Verity" statue. Ilfracombe has a Tesco and a Lidl for shopping, but venture into the High Street and you will find a couple of butchers and a nice bakery.Exmoor is also within easy reach for a day trip.
Motor Homers may find the site a little remote as there is only one bus which goes to Barnstaple.
I would like to say a big thankyou to the wardens who were very welcoming and friendly, and when I rang to see if anyone had found a set of keys, checked our pitch, found them and said they would post them back.☺
Dog owners planning to visit the area are advised to check their dog for ticks after any walks, especially along the coastal path.
We loved this quiet little site, and will use it again when we visit the area.
Absolute Gem of a site
This was our first stay here and it was fantastic. The wardens were helpful and able to answer any questions. The site is in a peaceful location but on the doorstep of Ilfracombe - ideal. There is no hardstanding but please do not let that put you off. Our pitch drained wonderfully after a very very wet day. A visit to Lundy is a must. Cannot wait to return.

Very nice site
Would recommend this site for definite. For those looking for a well kept quiet site, this site is for you. Very pleasant wardens who are very helpful and interested in your enjoyment and well being whilst you are there. This site has beautiful views and has easy access to many places of interest. On reading other past reviews about this site, some dog barking has been mentioned which may put other people off, this isn't the case at all as there was no dog barking the whole time we were on site and would urge anyone who has been put off visiting this site at the mention of persistent dog noise to definitely give it a go.
Peaceful but slightly remote
A pleasant "no facilities" site with a greater sense of space than many club sites. It is, however, somewhat distant from an infrequent public transport system apart from a once a day bus that stops outside the site. The narrow lanes with high hedges do not lend themselves to safe walking although traffic is relatively light. Cycling is OK if you have the "king of the mountains" physique. Neither I nor my wife do and I narrowly avoided divorce proceedings! Realistically, families will need to get in the car to go anywhere. The wardens, new to the site this year, have familiarised themselves with the area to enable them to provide local knowledge.
Another lovely stay.
This is one of the best sites. Wardens very welcoming comes naturally. Site kept immaculately. How many wardens walk around the site as a couple and talk to people as these do. Nothing is too much trouble. I think they should train wardens as they have so many natural qualities. I agree Caravan club need to hold onto wardens like this. When you leave they wish you a safe journey.
We look forward to next years caravaning at this site.
Fantastic short stay
We stayed here for only two nights at the end of a longer tour but loved the site and wished we could have stayed longer!
The wardens are super friendly and super helpful, recommending the perfect pitch for our van. The location is great and the views are awesome. There are no shower blocks but don't let this put you off.
There is a great dog walking field, but if your hound is partial to chasing rabbits keep him / her on a lead!
If you fancy a meal out there is a pub in the hamlet just down the road which serves quite nice pub food at reasonable prices.
We thoroughly recommend this site
So pleased we decided to renew our seasonal pitch
After our caravan was broken into last season, we were a bit anxious about renewing our seasonal pitch this year. But we are so pleased we did. We love this site, the location, it is immaculate, is peaceful and what can we say about the wardens.
Eric & Sharon are truly outstanding and all Wardens should be like this. Friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. They keep the site immaculate and we hope that we are lucky enough to be able to season our caravan for 2019/2020.
Message to the Caravan Club - Do not let these Wardens go. It will be your loss !!!!

excellent first time site for us, wardens so helpful and really enjoyed being there
Were new to this caravanning and motorhome lark. and booked this site through the club for initially a day as a stopover as we thought we would do some responsible wild camping as well, however we were so well received and the site so rural and clean and great location with a great price we just stayed ..if this is the sort of site we can expect in the future wish I had bought a motorhome years ago!!!! Well done to the wardens..
