Truly wonderful site

Ilfracombe Caravan Club site has a magnetic quality which makes you keep going back! By the end of this season we'll have enjoyed more than five weeks at this truly wonderful site this year alone.

The location is fantastic, close to the towns and beaches of Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, and Croyde. A little further afield are Barnstaple, Bideford, Westward Ho!, Clovelly, and Lynton & Lynmouth.

The site is immaculate in every respect. The grass is always neatly manicured, and the refuse, water and waste areas are spotlessly clean. This site is made better by the absence of hard standings as it makes the site even more green and beautiful.

There are two touring fields, with access roads arranged in a figure of eight pattern. The first has some sloping areas, with views to the sea, and tends to be more adult oriented. The second is almost flat, with views towards a Combe, and during school holidays tends to be more child orientated.

There tends not to be many children on site, however the families who do visit the are always well behaved and it's a pleasure to see the children making new friends and playing together, just as we did as children.

The site is in a rural area and is surrounded by the sights and sounds of the countryside. This week the farmers have been cutting grass in the nearby fields, which is fascinating to sit and watch on a warm summer evening.

Last but not least, the Wardens deserve an extra special mention. Kath and Pete are the finest Wardens we've had the pleasure of meeting. Friendly, professional and always helpful, the passion they have for their job is reflected in this beautiful site, and it's magnetic appeal.

We're fresh back from at 16 night stay at this wonderful site, having arrived home a couple of hours ago, and we're already looking foward to our next visit. Highly recommended!

great site,great price

Stayed July 15 for 8 nights. Very well kept and clean site, staff were brilliant. Very quiet, lots of space and pitches easy to park on. On hilltop can be very windy when the weather turns bad but great when the suns out. Easy access to local beaches, which the kids will love.

Family from Hell

We were on this site for 6 nights, first 4 great last 2 awful. Wardens very good and friendly. Grass a bit too long for us. Fourth day relief Wardens took over. Fifth day 'family from hell' arrived behind us, 5 children under 7, noisy, unruly etc. They had problems with electric and father disconnected ours while we were out! Came back and asked Warden's assistance as bollard not working. Warden did necessary to get us reconnected and showed my husband what to do if it happened again. He did not want to know what we were suffering and did nothing to advise those on Pitch 86 that this was not the way to behave. We were disconnected again! We were glad to leave the next morning. We have been club members since 1982 albeit with a break in the 1990s, and have never experienced anything like this before. We are not against children, there had been a number on site all week with no bother at all.

High on a hill.........

This was our first trip to the no frills Ilfracombe  CC site and we will definitely come back. The site is well maintained, peaceful and handily located. We explored Ilfracombe and took the trip to Lundy which was a great day out. Also convenient for visits to Woolacombe, Lynton (  100 year old cliff railway a must !) Porlock and Exmoor.  Croyde is in easy reach if you are seeking a crowded tourist trap ! Yes it is windy on the hill top - didn't bother us because we don't use an awning.  £12.50 a night- bargain !

Peaceful but Windy

Access to this site is not difficult as long as the CC directions are followed, with just the last 1/2 mile or so being on single track roads. This is another of the club's no facility sites, and represents excellent value for money at just £12.50 per night (2015). Check in was swift and friendly.  the site is very well kept with grass mown short and the service points maintained to an excellent standard. The site has a good dog walk and offers a recreation field for balls games. Be warned that many of the pitches are on a slope and a fair bit of leveling in both directions will be required. The site is very peaceful and offers views over the surrounding countryside (including the wind turbines - I quite like watching them).  Obviously the turbines are there for a reason, and setting up the awning at the wrong time can be interesting.  Make sure you're well pegged down. £12.50 a night? You can't go wrong.
