lovely stay

my wife and I stayed on this site in July this year. Although it had no toilet or shower block facilities which we knew in advance, the site is very well maintained and is quiet and very well sited to explore the surrounding area. The wardens were most helpful. It was also excellent value.

Great place to stay

We stay at the Ilfracombe site every year and really enjoy the company of Pete & Kath the wardens they are so accommodating. It is also so nice to meet our friends we have met on cc sites over the years. The site pitches are kept in a lovely clean and tidy way by the constant hard work by your worthy wardens.

Great week in North Devon

We went to this site as Willingcott was full.  I'm so glad we did as the site is beautiful.  Well cared for grass pitches set out to maximise the lovely views. So quiet even in the summer holidays and great wardens. Having no toilet block made us realise that we don't need to pay for those facilities as we have everything onboard. Location was great for us.  We did three cycle rides from the site including cycling to Braunton to pick up the Tarka trail all the way to Bideford (and back 40 miles). If you like sea swimming (rather than surfing) i recommend Hele bay near Ilfracombe.

The best way to enjoy your caravan today!

I am finding it difficult to say something that conveys just how perfect a place to spend a holiday or a short break this site is. Others have said it all but the elevated position, slightly sloping with such fantastic views and together with the openness give this site a jewel like quality. The layout of the top area provides this and the smaller bottom enclosure provides a more conventional layout if that is what you want. The whole site is immaculately kept and the absence of toilet and shower blocks a real treat. Here you do not have to watch the unsightly parade of half dressed bodies parading around then latter staggering back and forwards with pots & dirty dishes. Why pay £20,000 to £30,000 for all these facilities in your own van and then demand the same on every site. If that is what some people want then I have no argument but I do object to having to pay for their preferences. Don't tell me to go to CL's etc because I do but I also like to go WHERE I WANT TO and that includes full facility sites. If you want expensive facilities please pay for them. We are not a camping club, tents are generally not allowed.

Great Site and Great Location

First visit and a little apprehensive about lack of toilet block but not a problem. Clean quiet site with large pitches. Good for children - safe to play on bikes / scooters. Great location for visiting local areas. Wardens were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again. TrevorGM 06/08/15

Truly wonderful site

Ilfracombe Caravan Club site has a magnetic quality which makes you keep going back! By the end of this season we'll have enjoyed more than five weeks at this truly wonderful site this year alone.

The location is fantastic, close to the towns and beaches of Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, and Croyde. A little further afield are Barnstaple, Bideford, Westward Ho!, Clovelly, and Lynton & Lynmouth.

The site is immaculate in every respect. The grass is always neatly manicured, and the refuse, water and waste areas are spotlessly clean. This site is made better by the absence of hard standings as it makes the site even more green and beautiful.

There are two touring fields, with access roads arranged in a figure of eight pattern. The first has some sloping areas, with views to the sea, and tends to be more adult oriented. The second is almost flat, with views towards a Combe, and during school holidays tends to be more child orientated.

There tends not to be many children on site, however the families who do visit the are always well behaved and it's a pleasure to see the children making new friends and playing together, just as we did as children.

The site is in a rural area and is surrounded by the sights and sounds of the countryside. This week the farmers have been cutting grass in the nearby fields, which is fascinating to sit and watch on a warm summer evening.

Last but not least, the Wardens deserve an extra special mention. Kath and Pete are the finest Wardens we've had the pleasure of meeting. Friendly, professional and always helpful, the passion they have for their job is reflected in this beautiful site, and it's magnetic appeal.

We're fresh back from at 16 night stay at this wonderful site, having arrived home a couple of hours ago, and we're already looking foward to our next visit. Highly recommended!

great site,great price

Stayed July 15 for 8 nights. Very well kept and clean site, staff were brilliant. Very quiet, lots of space and pitches easy to park on. On hilltop can be very windy when the weather turns bad but great when the suns out. Easy access to local beaches, which the kids will love.

Family from Hell

We were on this site for 6 nights, first 4 great last 2 awful. Wardens very good and friendly. Grass a bit too long for us. Fourth day relief Wardens took over. Fifth day 'family from hell' arrived behind us, 5 children under 7, noisy, unruly etc. They had problems with electric and father disconnected ours while we were out! Came back and asked Warden's assistance as bollard not working. Warden did necessary to get us reconnected and showed my husband what to do if it happened again. He did not want to know what we were suffering and did nothing to advise those on Pitch 86 that this was not the way to behave. We were disconnected again! We were glad to leave the next morning. We have been club members since 1982 albeit with a break in the 1990s, and have never experienced anything like this before. We are not against children, there had been a number on site all week with no bother at all.
