Truly outstanding site and wardens

Ilfracombe Caravan Club site has a magnetic quality which makes you keep going back! Having visited twice this year already, we’ve decided to take a seasonal pitch for the rest of 2018. The location is fantastic, close to the towns and beaches of Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, and Croyde. A little further afield are Barnstaple, Bideford, Westward Ho!, Clovelly, and Lynton & Lynmouth. The grass is neatly manicured, and the water and waste areas are spotlessly clean. This site is made better by the absence of hard standings as it makes the site even more green and beautiful. There are two fields, with access roads arranged in a figure of eight pattern. The first has some sloping areas, with views to the sea. The second is almost flat, with views towards a Combe. Reviews often mention the barking dogs in the distance. When the wind is in the right direction you can hear them but it’s not enough to keep you awake, or keep you away from this beautiful site. There tends not to be many children on site, however the families who do visit the are always well behaved and it's a pleasure to see the children making new friends and playing together. Eric & Sharon are amongst the finest Wardens we've had the pleasure of meeting. Friendly, professional and always helpful, the passion for their job is reflected in this beautiful site. Highly recommended!

Council - please sort out the barking dogs 2 fields away.

This is a brilliant site. Great location. Great for families. Brilliant. BUT it's ruined by barking dogs from a field 100m away. They barked all day, so we left the site for as long as possible through the day for peace and quiet. Then when we got back at night they barked all night and kept us awake. The council called in to take statement and are apparently taking action but if they haven't sorted it I'm afraid I really wouldn't use the site again. Such a shame because otherwise it's lovely.

Awesome country site

Been a few years since we last visited Brook Lea (ilfracombe) and as always lived up to our expectations. Clean, quiet and great countryside views and lots of lovely fellow club members we have got to know over the years staying on site. Love the new spacing on the pitches. All this topped off with 2 super wardens who were so very welcoming and helpful during our stay. A real jewel in the networks crown and hope the warm spell doesn’t melt the price freeze. 😀

Excellent Value For Money

Our first visit and we will definitely be back. Large, open site with a mix of level and sloping grass pitches - many with views and plenty of space between pitches. Make sure you have an awning strap as it can get a bit breezy!! Friendly and helpful wardens - thanks for taking me to the minor injuries unit and 'yes', I have managed to stay out of further trouble!! Excellent dog walk and although we didn't have children with us, there is a large play area. Easy access to all local beaches and coastal path. Short walk down the lane to West Down village community shop for the paper (beware of traffic which can be quite fast moving). At a time when members seem to be moaning about the cost of pitches, I just don't understand why this site was not even half full. If you're happy to use your own facilities, then at £14 a night, it is an absolute bargain!!

Why is this site not full all the time???

A huge site with huge pitches, many of which are on the flat. and there are great views from some pitches. Delightful wardens who keep the site immaculate and are so friendly and helpful. One of the best dog walks we have ever encountered and a huge play area/football pitch. The beautiful weather we experienced during our two week stay certainly made it all the more enjoyable but even over two hot weekends there were loads of empty pitches which was such a shame. OK this site does not have a toilet block and ancillary facilities but most units now have their own toilet/shower and this site is ideal for visiting Ilfracombe, Woolacome, Linton and Lymmouth, Combe Martin all of which are just a short drive away and some have huge, glorious sandy beaches. To stay here is such bargain price and it is such a shame it is not always full. Many thanks to the charming and friendly new wardens who go out of their way to welcome every visitor and to answer any queries.

Stop over before continuing on travels.

A very well kept site we were made welcome by the wardens and had an enjoyable stay just one problem because of the sunny period the horse flies found me a good takeaway. Use sun screen and they find you less interesting. Will be returning later in year and make a longer stay..

Quiet and well kept

Very peaceful and well kept site; not too busy at this time of year [June]. Staff very friendly and helpful. Stayed initially for 2 nights but when weather changed we came back for another 3. Plenty of points for waste disposal and fresh water and motorhome grey waste emptying point. Will certainly come again. Thank you.

Recent stay

We have stayed for four nights over the bank holiday. Stayed many times and love it here. This year there are lovely new wardens and had a friendly greeting and checked we were ok the next morning. They keep the site immaculately and you see them around. Site handy for touring around Woolacombe, Ilfracombe, Barnstaple, Lyndon and Lynmouth. Nice just sitting outside your caravan. We will be back.

One of our favourite sites

Have just returned from a 7 day stay at this wonderful site.We have been staying here on a regular basis for more years than i care to mention but i never tire of it's beautiful setting. From the top of the site you have expansive sea views and from the bottom of the site rolling Devon countryside. This year the new wardens are very welcoming, friendly and extremely hard working. The grass is in great condition and from the bottom of the site services it looks like a premier football club pitch. For dog owners the site has a large field where your best friend can roam, run or play to it heart's content. All this and for only £14 a night.

We just can't keep away!

We love this site and have been very regular visitors for more than 20 years. Everyone is so friendly and, like us, most people are regulars. We like to use the seasonal storage facility, which works brilliantly for us. This year, we arrived on site just ahead of the snow, only to wake up the following morning to a winter wonder land. The wardens, Eric and Sharon, were amazing, so helpful and, in spite of the Arctic conditions, worked tirelessly and with good humour. Eric checked on us every day whilst we were 'snowed in' to make sure that we were ok. Truly beyond the call of duty. The only trouble we have is tearing ourselves away, we just never want to leave. One thing.... Please, please, please can you repair the steps and reinstate the woodland walk down to the little brook, because it is so, so magical and we miss our walks into 'Dingley Dell' or the 'Fairy Glen' as our grandchildren used to call it, a little piece of peace on earth now missing.
