Return visit

An excellent Club site we have visited on several occasions. A stay in late September has its pros and cons. The site was quieter with less people but some of the facilities are on limited times such as the shop and resteraunt.(and the pool is closed!) However the overall experience was restful and enjoyable. A visit to Coleton Fishacre is a must whatever the time of year. We will return next year.

Excellent place

A fantastic site , very helpful staff . Couldn't fault anything I shall certainly be returning. Bus stop outside camp which takes you one way to Brixham and other way to Dartmouth.

We love this place!

Great place, people and location - we head home today, but wish we could stay for longer. We have had the best of times during our short stay, the quality of what this site offers, is second to none in our opinion. Everything and everywhere is clean and well maintained. At this time of year it is quiet, we obviously cannot comment on the main holiday months but the way the site is set up, it does offer privacy from your neighbours, if this what you after. Surrounding areas Dartmouth, Kingswear & Brixham, to name a few - great places to visit to do whatever you choose We most definitely will be back

good site

recently stayed at this site in devon. it was a quiet site in sept. but can see from other reviews that it's not the place to stay at peak times if you want a quiet holiday. we found that a lot of the pitches were very small and difficult to pitch up on and also very muddy. we looked around twice before finding a pitch that we could drive on and off due to muddy conditions. we feel that if there had been far more hard standings available it would have been far easier to pitch up. yes, the weather was bad but the pitches were boggy when we arrived. we think that there are many grass pitches that ought to be made into hard standings by now. however, the site in general is a nice site and the wardens are great.

Smashing holiday in Devon

Really enjoyed our holiday at Hillhead. The Staff were super helpful and friendly. The Site was clean and well maintained. We really were hoping for a grass pitch - and were able to find a great one, despite arriving quite late due to traffic problems. I had problems with my booking prior to arrival and phoned the site directly - and they sorted it all out with the minimum of fuss and bother. The noise from the entertainment/bar area was a bit noisy somenights until midnight - which was a bit of a pain - but then again it's the middle of the summer holidays, and understand not everyone goes to bed as early as we do. We did enjoy the Pub Quiz Night and playing Bingo - although the kids were disappointed the slushy machine NEVER seemed to be frozen on the nights we went in! Food was nice - but quite pricey. All in all a fabulous holiday and we'd definitely come back again. THANK YOU.

Visiting Devon? - Stay Here

A great place to stay when visiting Devon. A 5 star site for visiting a 5 star county. The only walk from the site is strictly for the super fit and not worth the effort when you arrive at a mediocre beach. The only negative. Easy access to Dartmouth and Torbay on regular and frequent buses right from the site gate. We visited in August 2017 and although busy the facilities coped very well.

Fantastic summer break

Our first time at Hillhead and we were not disapointed. From the moment that we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The site offers great facilities including a shop, bar / restaurant, pool and games room. We managaed to get a pitch with a great view of the sea (as many of them do) Note to the Wardens... well done!! The site was spotless throughout our stay, not an easy task when the site was as busy as it was during August 17... Well done and thanks.

Lovely Holiday

We have just returned from10 glorious nights at Hillhead. Helped in part by the wonderful weather but also by the fact that our stay was one of the best holidays we have ever had. The pitch we had was fantastic - No 6 at the top. Hard standing and fully serviced. It was private, spacious and a great pitch for catching the sun. To be honest, if we had only been able to secure one of the lower site fully serviced pitches we personally would have been disappointed. Some of these were smaller, less private (no dividing hedge) and on the main road out of the site. In truth there did feel to be a big difference in the fully serviced pitches as other reviews have said. That said, for once we fell lucky, and our pitch was simply wonderful. The pool was fantastic, our daughter loved it and we made the most of this great facility. It was lovely and warm for even me and I hate getting cold in the water. The inflatable sessions were great fun and even though we were there over bank holiday there was room in the pool to enjoy yourself. The showers were lovely, clean and warm and not the push button type. The toilets were well cleaned but some people appear to have no idea of cleanliness and hygiene but this is not the site's fault. The entertainment was ok, we only went a couple of times but the entertainers made a good effort. We didn't eat at the restaurant or take way so cannot comment on this. The views from the site were wonderful and it was well kept and clean and tidy. Despite being full the site never felt cramped or busy it was peaceful and felt really nice. There were lots of dogs on the site and I'm a dog lover myself but by the end of our stay I was quite happy to never hear another dog bark again. As others have mentioned, some people clearly don't know how to clean up after their dogs but we only experienced this once. The site was well located for easy access into Brixham, Paignton etc. And down to Kingswear and across to Dartmouth. We were there for the Regatta and the park and ride offered across the road to Hillhead allowed site guests to use their buses to get down to Kingswear for a very reasonable fare. The wardens were lovely. Every bit of contact I had with them from prior to arrival to during the holiday was fantastic. They were helpful, engaging and enthusiastic. So would we go back? In truth maybe not but this is a positive. We all loved every moment of this holiday and everything about it was perfect. I would worry that any return visit would never match up to the brilliant time we had this year.

Beautiful Hillhead 27/08/17

Another great visit to a beautiful site with I think the most friendly and helpful wardens of all the sites we have visited. The facilities are superb and clean and the pool is second to none could not get the kids out of it. The negatives I found this time where some inconsiderate campers I too had the problem of unruly and unsupervised "children" knocking on the van window and waking both my kids up and at 2 and 5 it scared them as well but to be fair security where on it immediately. Right now I am a dog owner and my dog was with us,the dog walking area is superb however how hard is it to clean up after your own dog ?? but don't worry I did it for you on a few occasions please respect a beautiful site you no doubt know who you are. Will we be back ? Oh yes as soon as possible love the place another thumbs up from us .
