Great site

Have just returned after another visit to this site.It is situated in a lovely part of the world and the facilities are as always superb.Unfortunately during our stay we were attacked by midges and suffered many bites so beware and take precautions. The village itself many pubs and restaurants offering great food and friendliness. We used the Crown inn which served great food and allows well behaved dogs into the bars area.Unfortunately the weather was not very kind to us,with cold winds and rain so using the Crown Inn with a fire burning was great.Another thing to be aware of is the superb Bakers and Butchers shop where you can buy great bread, pies and locally produced meat. The tea and coffee shop(Labernam house) just off the high street is really nice and also allows well behaved dogs inside .

Another Jewel in Yorkshires crown

What can i say that hasn't been said before? I endorse all the positive reviews. In a nutshell this site is a must, very friendly and informative wardens, perfectly situated in the dales with stunning scenery at every point you care to turn. A visit to the Creamery is worth it to sample all the cheeses on sale, the fish and chip shop in town is one of the best, all pubs we tried were dog friendly, a really bustling little place, you could sit outside a cafe/pub and people watch all day. Only had three nights at Hawes so will come again for longer next time. Bus stops in town to most places of interest. If you are in doubt about coming to Hawes, put your fears behind you and visit this beautiful part of Yorkshire, you won't regret it.

First visit

Back from three days on this site which, despite it being mid week, was almost full.  We chose a pitch near the superb dog walking field - the biggest I have come across with mown paths through the buttercup meadow and a handy bench at the top end. The only slight negative to the pitch was it backed into a low stone wall so you had other pitches right behind.  Next time I would look at the other pitches  as there are two distinct areas divided by the access road. Great walks from the site entrance, the pretty longer route into Hawes is across the main road and by the river and fields to come in at the far end.  Or, via the road it's only a 10 minute walk. Lots of touristy shops, cafes etc and a good independent grocer's, as well as a Spa plus a lot of pubs.  We ate at the Crown, basic food but good value and it is very, very dog friendly.

Cracking Site

Just returned from 6 wonderful nights at Hawes. Spotless well maintained site. Friendly helpful wardens. Great location for exploring the Dales and lovely walks direct from the site. Few minutes walks into Hawes village, with pubs, Spar etc. Best dog walking area we have seen on any sites. Although relatively new caravaners (2yrs) compared to some people, out of all the CC sites we have visited Hawes comes out tops. Will definately visit again probably many times as not a too longer journey for us from home.

Great Location

This site is perfectly placed for anyone wanting to explore the North Yorkshire Dales. Only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Hawes with all it has to offer with quaint little shops, pubs, cafes and a great chippy. 10 minutes walk will take you to the Wensleydale Cheese factory with its huge range of cheeses for sale. All of the usual Club facilities are here but the toilets are getting a bit "tired" and in need of some TLC. The wardens, though, keep them immaculate. If you are dog owners like us, then you will be pleasantly surprised. This site has the biggest dog walking area we have ever seen, easily the size of 2 football fields on a gently sloping hillside with paths crossing all over and around. Brilliant! Small play area for kids but no set playground area. The pitches are all hardstanding and of an excellent size. Site is split into 3 distinct areas, each slightly different but all the better for that. All in all, an excellent site and one which we'll definitely return to soon.

A great site in a great location

A very clean and pleasant site, with friendly helpful wardens. The pitches are large for all of the outfit and a booster for the TV thrown in as well. The site WiFi was also good. Hawes is a loverly village, with enough pubs, fish and chips and shops, with easy access to the wonderful country side, driving or just walking. Like it alot.

AWESOME!!!!

Brilliant site location excellent wardens really helpful.  Facilities spotlessly clean, easy to explore the surrounding area.  Hawes is a very pretty town.  the 4 pubs are all dog friendly which is excellent, fab food and great welcome in all. Weather was appalling but did not matter.  Loads of wildlife to watch.  No TV reception but hours of fun with a pack of cards and a bottle of vino. Will return to further explore the area.  Molly the labradoodle had a great time.

Great week

This is now in our top 5 club sites. Great walks from the doorstep and the village of Haws is only a 5 minute walk from the site as well. The Crown Inn in the village and the Wensleydale Cheese factory were visited many times and are strongly recommended. The only reason it gets 4 ticks for peace and quiet is because of the working farm that borders the south part of the site. We loved waking up to the sounds of cows being milked, but it may not be your cup of tea! Wardens were great - thank you for looking after us. The games room with two pool tables tow table tennis tables and a table football were used a lot as well.

Enjoyable visit.

The staff on the site were wonderfully welcoming, as were the volunteer staff who came in on our day of departure. The facilities were not quite on par with Yarmouth, but still satisfactory, and the site was easy to move around on, park etc. The dog walking areas were exceptional. I seriously recommend visitors who like their Fish and chips to try the "Chippie" in Hawes, the food was beautifully cooked eating in or out. The Games room allayed some of the lack of interest of the children, but it's a tad isolated from things that really get them going. also note 25 miles from any major supermarkets, so stock up before you go. I am sure anyone going here will really enjoy the area and the site to the full, maybe this review was influenced a little by the appalling weather.
