March review

We stayed here in March and managed to catch some lovely weather. The site is well organised with two areas. One is further away from the toilet facilities. The wardens were friendly and helpful to us relative newbies. Easy walking distance into Hawes where there are some great pubs for meals. Many excellent walks in the area.

Brilliant

Our first visit to this jewel in the crown, what a wonderful site this is. The wardens are friendly and helpful, the scenery and location are perfect and I can see why it seems to be permanently booked up. We will certainly be paying another visit as soon as availability coincides with my diary. Do try The Chippie in Hawes, some of the best fish and chips I have ever tasted.

Wonderful Hawes

We luckily got a few days here this week, before the may BH weekend.  It was so lovely and quiet, and the dogs loved the enormous dog field.  I can recommend the Indian takeaway in Hawes, ask at reception as to how to find it.  We will come back one day, but as we have decided this year we are going to go to different sites we haven't been to yet, it may be a while.  All in all a perfect site, and Blue and Spider the dogs loved it too......

Outstanding

A fabulous site, exceptionally well maintained and first class facilities. Excellent Dog walking area. Hawes is a short walk away with a whole host of delightful shops and pubs. Bit awkward to find on the first visit as CC do not sign post it as it is Members Only. Well worth a visit, we will certainly be back!!

GOOD, GOOD, GOOD

I have been a club member since 1980 and stayed at many club sites. However, this is the first time I have reviewed a Club Site. I am prompted to write, not because of the outstanding local scenery, good food, local attractions etc, which are all excellent, but because of the quality of the site itself and site facilities. A real gem. Tidy, clean and well organised. A credit to our club, to the Warden and to the Assistant Warden. Many, many thanks for a most enjoyable stay.

Not been for a while

Forgotten how lovely this site is.   Booked a serviced pitch and it was lovely in the quiet little area behind reception away from the hustle and bustle.   Lots of choice for eating and drinking establishments in Hawes, may be worth booking a table at the Crown at the weekend.   Lot of motorbikes at the weekend in the Town.   Facilities on site lovely and warm and clean getting a bit tired in areas though.    Wardens lovely, welcoming and friendly. Lovely to see rabbits running around and hearing the owl hooting in the night. We won't leave it so long next time.

One of the clubs best sites

We have been visiting this site since it first opened and it never lets us down. It is a very well maintained site with very friendly staff. It is in a good location for exploring the Dales with Skipton or the Lakes about 1 hours drive away. we also recommend the Hawes creamery for good Food.

Great Site in a beautiful area

My favourite CC site! Stayed here in the Easter holidays for a long weekend. A lovely well maintained site with helpful staff and lots of wildlife. Only a 5 min walk into Hawes with a choice of pubs, good local shops, the wensleydale creamery and gayle mill. The Dales museum is also worth a visit. Despite being so close to the village the site is really quiet with no traffic noise. There is a lovely ~2 mile walk across fields to Hardraw Force and the Green Dragon pub. The only reason I havent given 5* is that I think that another toilet block at the top if site near reception would be good. We stayed in a serviced pitch and its a bit of a trek with a child down to the only toilet block. The games room is a great idea for kids, however the large outdoor playing field is perfect for some swings, slides etc. My 6 year old would love it even more!

Easter

Having visited this site lots of times, this Easter was perfect for weather. Our favourite Wensleydale cheese was perfect from the creamery and our favourite pub 'The Crown' was as good as ever for food & real ale. We tried a new walk this time - around Lake Semerwater - a lovely light walk mainly on the flat but with lots of stiles.

Fabulous

Great site, easy walk into Hawes. Fantastic area to explore. First visit to Hawes but will definitely return. Some good places to eat in the village. If coming from the North West would recommend route via A65 and Ingleton as the route via Brough and B road from Kirkby Stephen is quite narrow and tricky. It's a bit longer via Ingleton but much easier road.
