Amazing Views

Been to Hawes will be our fourth time. Love it every time we ago beautiful scenary and views. Plenty to of places to visit and explore. Our Dogs enjoyed the site for the lovely Dog Walking area. Very Friendly people on the site and Wardens could not do enough for you. Will be returning again next year after the site has a refurb.

Lovely Site - Will Be Back

We actually booked another none CC site nearby but quickly moved and so glad we did. This site has everything we needed including walks, places to visits, shops within walking distance, lovely staff and very importantly somewhere to exercise our dogs properly which is very rare. We even extended our stay we were so happy. We did have an experience in the dog exercise area as my little brown dog was running around excited and got within 20 feet of another group of dogs only to be shouted at (well screamed actually) to 'get away'. All I can say is if you want to walk your dogs without any others around then check first, walk them round the site or go elsewhere. The other thing was that arrival time seems to never be upheld as we saw arrivals as early as 11 a.m. when it was supposed to be 12 noon. Minor problems and we will definitely be back as we loved it and our dogs came back worn out.

Great stay at Hawes

Great welcome from the wardens, easy to get too, toilet block kept clean. Easy walk into Hawes, good market on Tuesdays, you can walk to the Creamery lovely cheese to sample and buy. We also had great weather which was a bonus. Look forward to returning in the future.

A little bit of everything

Just back from our Autumn sojurn during which went to Hawes for the first time (it won't be the last). Having read one of the other reviews about the noise, I'm somewhat glad we arrived on a Sunday afternoon, although as a closet biker I have to say a ride out to Hawes would be fantastic! The site seems to fall very neatly into one of those slots where you can do as much, or as little as you want. If you are energetic, there are walks galore (whilst it's worth paying the money to see Hawdraw Force - it's even better to have a drink in the pub afterwards as well); if you aren't there's the Dales Museum, Ropeworks and Wensleydale Creamery. In either case there are numerous pubs serving food, it was almost a shame we only went out for 1 evening meal - although I did manage to get into town to visit another pub. The Tuesday market was a bit of a let down and I'd probably go to the one at Leyburn, if that's what takes your fancy. The layout of the toilet block can only be described a 'quirky' and need of an overhaul, but the drying room was spot on - although probably needs to be bigger.

Lovely site and town, shame about the race track.

The site is lovely, shower block in need of a huge upgrade. Lovely walks for all levels and plenty for the fishing people too. The town is brilliant for food and pubs, the locals are friendly too. The main problem is with Hawes at the weekend, bikers and boyracers. From the Friday night to Sunday night all you can hear is racing bikers in all directions. We had a relaxing day on the Sunday small walk to pub for dinner then chill next to the van. After hearing the bikes for more than a few hours we went for a drive to get away from the noise, almost hit a biker on the wrong side of the road while he was doing maybe 80-90 mph. We have been to this site many times in the past but not been for about 4 yrs, we wont be going back again. Pure and simple reason is, bikers. I would sooner go elsewhere for peace and quiet to chill out. If I wanted loud exhausts constantly for a whole weekend I would go to a race track. Super site and town, the Hawes biker brigade spoils it.

Glorious Dales

Not long arrived back from spending 8 nights at this site. The shower block is very tired, not what we have come to expect these days from CC sites. Very busy site although quiet. All hard standings. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, a walkers dream, local village quaint and unspoiled, we visited the caves (not for the claustrophobic), and the did the Ingleton waterfall walk (not for the infirm), they say allow 2-4 hours but we took nearly 6 because we savoured the spectacular sites on the way around, and enjoyed coffee and cake half way round. We visited Aysgarth Falls also spectacular in a different way. You may find interesting, a visit to the Ribblehead Viaduct, which is what the drama on TV called Jericho is based on. Oh and don't forget to visit the Wensleydale Creamy, situated in the Hawes village. Yum Yum.

Wonderful Hawes CC Site

Returned this moment from the wonderful Hawes CC Site. We spent 10 nights there and the super friendly and welcoming wardens laid on a spectacular show for us by way of a magnificent thunder and lightening storm with accompanying rain on the Tuesday night, some rain on the Thursday night and a little rain last night. The remainder of the time the weather was absolutely glorious. Whatever their connections the wardens came up trumps. The site is situated close to Hawes - easy walking distance, level 12 minute walk, Wensleydale Cheese factory, Rope factory, railway and local museum, Church, numerous good shops, Tuesday Market Day, many good dining establishments and drinking holes. Hawes is centrally located with many picturesque places to visit and enjoy. Plenty of circular walks of varying challenges from easy to strenuous. This is a must visit site and area and a return visit is compulsory. We'll certainly be back.

Three night tour of the Dales

This was our last stop on our little tour of the Dales.  We also stayed at the clubs two other Dales sites.  Hawes was our firm favourite and look forward to returning next year. Like all the Dales club sites the toilets are not the newest but totally spotless as was the site itself.  The wardens were lovely and really friendly. Fizz was totally spoilt by the amazing dog walk! It is the best we have ever seen.

A peaceful site

This is the best club site we have stayed at so far. Whilst the site was fully booked it didn't feel overcrowded or busy and there was plenty of space between units. The toilet block was clean (as some have said a little dated but perfectly functional) and the bins emptied regularly. The wardens obviously take great pride in their site to keep it so immaculate and were really friendly and helpful.

Stayed here in early August. Loved the site, close to the town and some great places to visit. Great dog area. Very helpful wardens.
