Cracking site Gromet

Lovely stay made perfect by the Weather.  Staff friendly and helpful and Bob the beagle was a lovely addition.  Facilities clean and warm so what if the tiles are a bit dated (according to comments) We dont go to admire the decore.  Easy access to Hawes and surroundings - whats not to like. Shame it will be closing until mid summer but we will be back.

Another successful stay

This is our third visit to this fabulous site situated deep within the Dales National Park, we have for the second year running taken a season pitch at Hawes. This visit was no different than any previous visit and the service received was as good as at any other time. The site is tucked neatly in from Brunt Acres road a mere 15 minute walk from the beautiful village of Hawes with its bustling main street. There is an array of shops ,pubs, restaurants and cafes to cater for everyones taste.  The facilities on site are a little dated but are due for an update this year resulting in a long closure for the site. Apart from this the site is excellent with a substantial games room with two table tennis tables and a table football game and pool table. There is also a large field with paths mown through it for exercising the dogs. The views across the fells are stunning in any weather and especially this year with our extended good spell of mild weather. There are plenty of lovely walks through the countryside and some joining the Pennine Way. The walk across the fields to The Green Dragon pub at Hardraw is a must as is a visit to the Falls at the rear of the pub. We love this site and will definitely be returning when it opens next year.

Cracking place to stay

Spent 4 nights here and enjoyed the visit.  The staff were very receptive, polite, friendly and helpful. Just a short walk to the village centre with plenty of outlets and eating and drinking establishments. This was our first visit to this site but it won't be the last. The facilities block is due for a re-furb but they were clean and tidy nevertheless.  See you next year - thanks

Lovely place but...

Stayed at the site for 3 nights half term. Site was lovely with clean toilets, unfortunately the staff are lacking in customer service skills. I found them to be rude and disgruntled that they were working there. Hope others have a better experience.

Mid term break

Stayed on this site every year for 6 years at mid term with grandchildren for a week and as usual wardens , both sets absolutely GREAT, two things not happy with "SPEEDING" drivers what dont you understand about 5mph for gods sake its not difficult to adhere to, second gripe old couple with HYMER parking against rules with access door to left affording us in British caravan no privacy at all (both doors facing one another. Not only that but they were banging about until midnight with no consideration for others, rant over.

What 5mph Rule!!!

Lovely site, great location but we couldn't get over the speed that people drove on the site itself as well as the approach to & from it, really quite worrying. We lit our barbecue one night and the warden came to check that it wasnt an open fire, which my husband was slightly annoyed at as he is a Fire team leader in his job and abides by all rules, maybe the drivers need to do the same!

A few days away with friends

Great site from a location point of view. Good access for my motorhome and good facilities albeit tired and in need of renewal (which appears to be scheduled). Good helpful welcome, however we noticed one of the wardens was rather over zealous with his administration of the site rules during our stay, not that this directly affected us, but it did our friends. Great to have a few provisions on sale in the site shop. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely location, will return

Had a one night stay on our way home. Warm, friendly welcome - we found all the wardens really friendly and hard working - and given a choice of pitches. Pitched opposite the shower block, had no disturbance. Understand the site will be closing soon for refurbishment of shower block which is quite dated, having said that it was spotlessly clean, warm and plenty of showers/toilets etc. Great location for walking into Hawes and the circular walk taking in the quaint Green Dragon pub and Hardraw Force is a must. Look forward to returning next year.
