A lovely welcome from the wardens. As the refurbishment was taking place only half the site was open. Pitches are level. Site clean and tidy as per usual. It was so lovely and quiet. Loads of different birds about, we had a resident pair of ducks and a pair of rabbits sleeping near the caravan hitch. Our seed pot went down before your eyes! A large dog walking / children football field. A games room. A slow 10 min walk into Hawes, pubs, cafes and fish and chip shop. A lovely cafe at the cheese creamery, free car park. This has been on the list to visit for a while...we picked a good time with the toilet block being closed...we will be back.

Lovely welcoming site. couldn't ask for more.
Fab site. Nice large pitches, lovely views and very friendly wardens. No facilities due to maintenance but that doesn't bother us in the slightest as we have a toilet and shower in our van. Play room fab for the kids but my two loved just playing in the wooded area building dens. Being able to let your dog off in the dog walk was the highlight for my 6month old Boxer dog, Roxy. She rarely gets let off the lead so she loved the freedom and the ability to play with a 4 month old collie named Bobby. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend and we will be booking to go back as soon it's available.

Beware! No Facilities
Checking for Late Availability last weekend I found a Standard Pitch with Awning available at Hawes. Great! A Standard Pitch so I booked it for 2 nights.
We arrived there 3 hours later, drove past the building site that used to be the toilet block and thought "we're in trouble here". Lo and behold when the very courteous warden asked if I was aware there were no toilet facilities on the site it was not a complete surprise.
Perhaps when work as significant as this is going on, a "pop-up" should appear on the booking screen warning members.
Clearly the wardens have had and will have people turning up and being disappointed (most probably members who have stayed at Hawes before and don't think they need to look at the site's listing).
That said, the village is still charming, the walks are awesome and the sooner it re-opens fully the better because all the pubs, tearooms and shops say they are really missing the footfall and spend.
Looked a bit drab
Only half the site is open due to refurbishment and what was open has undergone some changes i.e. new electric bollards ,service point etc which means that areas have been dug up and have been reseeded [ which the birds loved ] Most of the pitches are sloping so some lateral adjustment is necessary I don't know why they weren't terraced during refurbishment because some were awaiting new gravel . Members with long outfits beware on arriving as there is is a traffic island [outside the office] with a tree in the middle which starts wide but narrows down to the width of a caravan I saw a few run out of road with that one.
The fells are wonderful and some great walking to be had and the best sausages in the world at the Grassington butchers.

closed facilities
Stayed here Wed and Thursday after Easter 14 when toilet facilities were closed ! Lovely village and lots of walks ! Only thing was we were woken around 8am with quickcut saw for 20 mins !! This work could have been done in the middle of winter not at Easter surely 1 of the busiest times of the year !!

Partially open is better than not at all.
We knew at the time of booking this site in December 2016 that the site was only to be partially open with no facilities (it was originally scheduled to be closed completely but as I understand it the CC agreed to partially open after requests to that effect were made). The lack of facilities did not spoil our holiday at all. Friendly helpful wardens who were doing a great job in unusual circumstances. Great walking direct from the site, and dog friendly pubs. We thoroughly enjoyed our break.

Dog Barking for 3 days & Nights
As others have already stated, we stayed here for 3 nights up to Easter Sunday and had considered staying another night or two but with the local Farmers Dog barking all night and part of the days and no proper sleep we just had to leave, Hawes is by far our favourite site but we had always stayed in the top part of the site which is currently completely closed so have never witnessed this problem before. The CC really need to sort this out because many members are going to stop booking, if or when we book again, if we can not get on the top site we will turn around and leave. I was also amazed at the prices charged for a site with almost no facilities for motorhomes, no reductions for the lack of facilities or the disturbed nights sleep.
Disappointed
We stayed here over the Easter weekend, the site is having work done so I can't comment on the facilities as there were none, and I was aware of this.
We were at the far end of the site, away from the site office. There was a collie dog tied up in the adjacent farm buildings which barked constantly day and night.
It could be heard all over the site, I left a day early as I hadn't had any sleep and my friends left 2 days early.
I know this is not the caravan clubs fault, and its a working dog etc. but really all day barking and barking all night was just too much
I am sure this is a lovely site, and its in a great location for the village and for walking.
I wouldn't go again.
