Brilliant site

Beautiful site, perfect for the short walk into Hawes, site is lovely and clean, toilet/shower block nice new & clean, the only for us that let the site down was no play park for the kids, a very large field for the kids to play, but none of them did as no play park, the site and field is more then big enough to accommodate a play park, apart from that a beautiful site.

Brilliant Site

We visited this site last week and can only say it was superb. A beautifully laid out, peaceful site with Bret facilities. Lots of great walks nearby with plenty of places of interest to visit. A very short two minutes walk to Hawes which is a great little town. The pubs no eteries are fantastic and give great value and we will definitely be back soon.

Beautiful site and beautiful scenery

My husband and I have just returned from our first visit to this site, but it certainly won't be the last. The location of the site cannot be beaten! It is surrounded by breath-taking scenery and is a convenient 10 minute stroll into the village, which has great shops, restaurants and pubs. We were only on site for 5 nights and we did not use our car once as there are so many walks. We must commend Pat and Joe the assistant wardens who were so friendly and hard working and added to the enjoyment of our stay. They are an asset to the Club.

Must be the best site ever

We have just returned from this marvellous site. We last came 2 years ago and liked it very much. Now with all the improvements it's got to be one of our favourites. We were on the fully serviced part, lovely, very quiet, felt like we were in an exclusive area lol. The wardens were as ever, very nice, helpful, friendly, thanks to all, especially Jo and Pat. The site is spotless and the toilet block is a big improvement from before. We like to be able to walk down to the town and there is everything you need. We had runs out to Leyburn and Richmond, both lovely little towns and over the Buttertubs and up and over the top to Tan Hill. Even managed to find Ravenseat Farm, home of the Yorkshire Shepherdess, cream tea was delish. Weather was very kind considering rest of country, some rain but mainly at night. We will be back

Fabulous stay!

This is our 2nd visit to this site. This time we stayed on a fully serviced pitch. Only downside was our water connections and pipes for in and out were just a tad too short. We resolved this by putting the pipes underneath the caravan. Everything about the site is outstanding. The location is perfect with a 5 minute walk to the centre of Hawes. There are 4 pubs in Hawes all with a good choice of real ales. There is a spar for any groceries and a good choice of shops selling clothes, outdoor gear, antiques, delicatessens and much more. The fish and chip shop/cafe is excellent. We walked to the Wensleydale creamery to sample their cheese and came away with a bagful of various flavours. There's a nice 3/4 mile walk to Hardraw Force waterfall which is through the Green Dragon pub. I understand why it's called that. The woman serving drinks was definitely the Green Dragon. Her customer service skills were hilarious. Someone entered to ask if they were still serving food. She said "why do you think people are eating?" HA! HA! We asked if we could just go look at the waterfall she said "no it's closed" there were no smiles, or please, or thankyou's. Despite that we will definitely return. There are so many lovely walks and lots of lovely villages around there. Also, ideal for the three peaks. We walked Whernside on Friday afternoon and it was lovely.

First visit to Yorkshire

Hawes, wow, please visit as this is a fantastic site you will not be disappointed Excellent facilities recently refurbished to a very high standard and exceptionally clean Wardens are very friendly and helpful, nothing being too much trouble for them, very welcoming and friendly at all times, a credit to the club as ambassadors, shame not all sites have similar staff. We found so much to do locally only using the car for scenic drives, which are plentiful as this is a very picturesque rural area. Situated adjacent to a working farm, we enjoyed the activity but feel others may not of approved as it was shearing time and the sheep were noisy,it was a pleasant sound- I did read previous reviews about the farm advising people to avoid that area of the site, it increased our enjoyment, we chatted with the farmer several times- learning about his work. The dog walk field is excellent, a large area fenced in to allow a good free run away from the pitches, a real plus for us, surely the best on the network? Plentiful shops and pubs in village- make sure you visit a small store called "the good life " on the adjacent business area, what this store stocks is unbelievable, absolutely everything under one roof !! Village gets busy at times as it's a real central point of the outlying area, we were really taken by the ambience and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, with a definite desire to return. The wildlife was very interesting, rabbits everywhere, roe deer in the next field and hedgehogs about at nite! Lots of your usual and not so usual species of birds, incredibly tame woodpigeons ! I would rate this as one of the best sites in my twenty plus years of membership of the club- can't think of one I have enjoyed more, and we have visited many!

Wonderful site

We only stayed for 2 nights Sat 29th - Sun 30th July, the weather was horrendous but that did not dampen our stay!. It was our very first visit to the site and overwhelmed with the modern newly refurbished toilet block. The pitches are well spaced out. Wardens very friendly, helpful and humorous. The dog walk / field is excellent the best we have seen. Hawes is only a short walk from the site and a lovely Market town, great shops and pubs with real ale. Be warned if you want to eat in the pubs you have to book! We would not hesitate to recommend this site we have already booked to return in October. Mike and Diane Lee

Excellent site !!!

Young (ish) and new caravaners this year. Stayed on few club sites and already and find this site to be outstanding. Cleanliness all round site is top notch especially pristine shower block. Plenty of showers for size of site and flow brilliant. Hawes pretty village but if you intend to eat out reserve as very very busy. Qued 40 mins at chippy but was delicious. Loads of fabulous walks from doorstep and never needed car. Did hawes circular 12 miles, awesome. Great dog facilities on site and spaces very generously spaced out. Lovely and quiet. Wardens and staff work very hard and are obviously very proud of the site and so should be. We will be back. Excellent site!!!

A very pleasant week

Our visit to Hawes was during the last week in July. Although we had stayed on the site several times before, this was several years ago. Since then they have developed an area of 10 service pitches behind the reception. We had booked one of these, and although we have used them at many sites, this must rate as one of the best designed areas. They are widely spaced in a circle with CDP and refuse disposal in a central area. They are really like a mini site of their own. The whole site had recently been redeveloped and the block facilities were all new and shiny and maintained to the normal high standard. As part of the redevelopment they do seem to have removed a lot of the shrubs. Which has open up parts of the site, in my opinion to the detriment. The site is located about a half mile walk from Hawes, which is a lovely market town and has all the shops you are likely to need, and a good market on Tuesday. It also has plenty of places to eat and drink. If you like walking the area cannot be bettered. In our week the car only moved once, on all other days we walked from the site. Buses are also available from Hawes, mainly down the dale. Although there is also one that goes via Hardraw to Garsdale station. The sheep dog demo at 6:30 every Thursday (£5 adults) on the field above Haylands bridge will not disappoint. Our O2 phone recieved calls and good 4G, our EE just the call / texts. The site WiFi was fine for emails and general browsing throughout our stay, despite the site being nearly full.
