Magical place

Spent 2 nights here in mid June on our way home from Scotland. Having not had good weather and picking sites a little to remote we came to Hawes. Well my wife was so happy as soon as we pulled into the site. Staff so helpful and friendly and could not do enough for us. Every thing was spot on,a big site but you don't feel you are close to anyone. Lovely walk into Hawes and lovely to sit and people watch. Did some lovely walking and went to the Wensleydale creamery which was a great afternoon. Don't want to say to much as we won't be able to book in if it gets to popular. We are going back and can't wait to explore even more and see the staff who already feel like friends. Well done to you all.

Wonderful site

Stayed here for 5 nights in June 18, much improved facilities from our last visit, would highly recommend a visit, short 10 minute walk in to Hawes with plenty of pubs and places to eat, recommend a tour of Wensleydale cheese, don't forget your membership card for 10% off entry and cheese from the shop, restaurant also recommend . Poor tv reception will need tv cable plugged in to bollard, trees do drop sap, maybe the time of year

FANTASTIC IN EVERY WAY.

We were running late for our arrival. We received a call from the Warden ( sorry didn't get the name), to ask if everything was ok. When we arrived at 6pm the warden came out to give us an allocated pitch and necessary keys, and pointed us to the pitch. All I can say is the 4 member team of wardens are truly a credit to the club. A warm welcome, a laugh, informative and genuinely aim to please. Pitch was great, facilities immaculate, site perfectly located for the town, great walking area, nothing not to like. We will certainly return if we can manage to secure a booking, as this was a cancellation we obtained. Given the change of booking procedure by the club, there is a chance of getting on site at the popular sites, instead of selfish members block booking everything in December when they really haven't thought through their travel plans. Again thank you to the team for making our stay so enjoyable. DR Allan

Great Stay - Dog Exercise Field - what a surprise!!

We know Hawes very well having been regular visitors since 1979. We chose a mid week break to enjoy the scenery, walking and local town. The site is well appointed at the bottom end of the linear town, the new facilities are very clean/tidy and the wardens are very friendly. The pitches are a good size too. A real positive was the secure dog exercise field - Wow! what a lovely surprise and our one year old puppy had a great time. It is well used but even though the site was fairly full, there were plenty of opportunities to have the field to yourself if required. There was nothing on the website to document this! A potential negative (but not within the Club Site's control) is the TV reception. It is not just poor but non existent if you don't have a cable to plug into the bollard. The site shop does sell cables if required. Our new Motorhome is digitally configured with no facility to connect to a co-axial cable - it picked up NO TV stations at all. We are not huge TV watchers anyway and had our tablets to stream live TV for the programmes we wanted to watch. Conversely, the wifi signal was strong and stable. We will revisit as we love the area and location - and the dog exercise field. Not to be missed The Chippie in Hawes serves delicious food - worth a stay in the area for that alone!!

First outing of the year.

Excellent site, from the moment we were met with a friendly reception, and invited to drive around the site and choose a pitch. The site is well laid out with generous well groomed pitches. The impressive utility block is exceptionally clean. We have since tried to book this site again but have found it to be fully booked. This is understandable due to the high quality of this site.

Midweek break

Stayed Tuesday & Wednesday nights before Easter weekend. Weather very mixed, but with warm and waterproof clothing it didn’t stop us getting out, especially to the fish and chip shop and three of the pubs- recommended. Site location and facilities first class. Cannot thank wardens enough for having replacement blade fuses, as drop down bed fuse had blown. Overall- highly recommended.

Perfect site and location

Excellent well maintained site, set in beautiful surroundings, immaculate facilities and very helpful wardens. Enormous fenced in dog field and considering the time of year not a mud bath. Easy short walk into the beautiful town of Hawes. Plenty of shops and dog friendly pubs and a chippy with the best fish & chips I’ve tasted for a long time. Couldn’t fault a thing.

Wind, snow and frozen pipes

We stayed for the first time on the Hawes site between 17th and 22nd March. We arrived just in time to meet the "beast from the east" which caused us a few problems with our water system. However, despite that we had a superb time walking in the surrounding hills, and exploring the charming village of Hawes. It is a magical place, and looked beautiful with the snow on the ground. Definitely worth another visit . . . . . but preferably in better weather. By the way - the site staff were excellent, and managed to keep everything running despite the intense cold. Geoff PS - The Creamery is well worth a visit.
