A very rainy few days causing road flooding meant the race we had planned to watch from site had to be diverted. Obviously not Clubs fault by any means but want to point out how good the pitches remained in these extremely wet conditions. All pitches except one appear to remain absolutely fine. Very good drainage.
Note you cannot use site toilets until you have selected pitch, and return to office to tell them pitch number when you will be issued two keys.
The site is within easy walking distance of attractive Hawes which has a selection of shops eg butcher baker convenience store and an excellent fish and chip restaurant which also did a takeaway service. The Westmorland creamery on the outskirts is well worth a visit.
Good area for walking when weather permits!
Great for Motorhomers
This was our first visit to the site, after a family recommendation. We stayed for 3 days, 4 nights. We will certainly visit again. The site was lovely a quiet and the walk into Hawes was easy. We didnt have the best weather but managed to avoid the worst of the rain. Not having a car with us proximity to local attractions and facilities in essential and Hawes offers this. We also found some nice short walks in the countryside, that could be completed between the showers.
There are quite a number of attractions within easy walking distance of the site, but we only visited the Wensleydale creamery on this vist ensuring we still have new things to do on future visits as I am sure we will be back many times as it is only 2hours drive from home.
The site was beautifully maintained and the pitch we had was great.
Wonderful, Pity about the weather
Booked for 5 nights but only stayed 4! It rained more or less non stop all day the day before we should have left so at 5 pm we decided to just pack up and go home as only a 2 hour journey. This is the first time we have managed to book into this site and I can see why! The wardens are very friendly and helpful and keep all aspects of the site immaculate. The dog exercising field is fantastic, so big, but the dog did get a bit distracted by the rabbits and other smells that he forgot why he was there! It is a pity that when the site was refurbished that a dog shower was not added, nearly everyone on the site had at least one dog and in bad weather it would be really useful. Easy walk into Hawes with plenty of pubs/hotels and cafes to eat in. Also nice walk through the fields to the Green Dragon pub. Excelkent spot for lots of good walking.
Wonderful first time stay
Hawes had been on our list for some time and we finally spent a perfect 4 days there this September. Friendly helpful wardens, spotless facilities and a well kept site. It's
all been said before regarding location etc but please do the 6 mile drive to Reeth over The Buttertub Pass, the road is narrow but the views are simply out of this world. We visited lots of places but the standouts were Askrigg and Kirkby Lonsdale with a fabulous butchers.
We will definitely return.
If you pitch near number 83,on the back wall near the river a young hedgehog visits every day mid morning, please give him a little dog food to help fatten him up for the winter ahead !!!!
Fabulous site.
Just love this site as do our dogs - it is definitely their favourite of all dog walks. Loads of walking around and places to visit. Love the views from many of the pitches too. Hawes is usually busy but some good food to buy and market (Tuesday) has a good fish stall. Plenty of great cheeses up at the factory and not too expensive either. Can recommend the Green Dragon at Hardraw which is a nice stroll across Haylands bridge and across the fields, very little incline.
Never had a problem with rude staff, always found them really pleasant and helpful. Facilities new and always spotless. It is just a pity that so many people fail to read the notice in front of them about shutting the Ladies block door quietly. Don't understand why that is so difficult.
Love the herb boxes too near reception. Always a bonus.
Will be going back again shortly I am sure.

Tour de Yorkshire 2019
Stayed on this site from 15th to 19th August, it has always been in our top five since we first visited a few years ago and is still in there. The current warden team of Janice Peter Lorna and Roger keep the site really welcoming, clean and tidy. Hawes village has some great places to eat, we tried the creamery this time and we had a wonderful Sunday lunch. We will of course be back.
Last stop, returning from Scotland
Lovely site, friendly and well informed wardens. We had a serviced pitch and used our own facilities in the Motorhome, so did not have the opportunity to rate the site facilities, but they looked comprehensive.
Dog walking on site was really good, gave our little chap the chance to vainly pursue rabbits...he tries his best to no avail.
Hawes is a lovely little village, it gets crowded, but nothing too bad, lot's of nice places to eat and drink and shops to keep you interested.
All in all, highly rated and I'll be back for another visit soon...guaranteed.
Perfect site for walkers
The location of this site is perfect if you enjoy countryside walking, which we do. Bought a map in the shop with 8 walks direct from the site. We also ventured out to the wider area for other walking. The views in the surrounding area are just stunning.
Site is well maintained, clean and well designed. One toilet block so take note of closing times. We were in the secluded fully serviced pitch area ... well worth the supplement.
Hawes is a delight. Fabulous pubs, cafes, takeaways and quaint shops along with a spar for daily goods. The Crown is great for a pint and lovely food, as is the local Indian restaurant.
Wensleydale cheese factory is well worth a visit, we bought some lovely cheese from there.
Some reviews mention unfriendly wardens. We didn’t find that. They always said hello whilst going about their work and seemed friendly enough to us.
People also moaned about wardens not letting them on early, I never understand these gripes, as it states quite clearly what the entry time is. We arrived 10 minutes early and waited in the lay by which is on the approach to the site. On our way home at 11am we saw someone else arrive! They will have been unable to check in, and wardens are quite right to refuse entry!
Also the way some members treat the facilities really spoil it for everyone else. I saw small children unaccompanied using loos and not flushing and things like sink areas full of hair. Clean up after yourself!
As far as this site and the area goes, we will 100% return.
Wet and Windy Hawes!
First time at Hawes after reading good reviews in MMM which it turned out were well deserved. Site location is excellent and access proved good even with the poor weather! Hawes is a lovely village/market town with excellent range of pubs, eateries and local shops. Also local attractions such as Wensleydale Creamery and Ropemaking outlet plus lovely walks in countryside around including Hardraw Waterfalls.Site very well managed and we found wardens friendly and informative but with a large site to manage in atrocious weather very busy! Dog walk is very good, large with plenty of space to let dogs exercise off lead but also well maintained paths criss crossing area. Thank you for a great stay at Hawes.
First time visit
As a motorhome owner the location of this site is great for access to village. Ten minute walk to nearest pub and all eating places. Although the weather on first day was very poor we still enjoyed the next two days in the village. I did find that the wardens on Hawes site not as friendly as other sites eg Berwick or Breacon. They seemed rather regimented but did carry out all duties required efficiently. Games room could be open longer. Toilets are clean but only one block so pay attention to cleaning times.
