Had two separate visits to this site last week and if was delightful . One of the bigger sites with great access into the market town of Hawes which is deep into the dales. The road from J51 of A1 is quite good and you pass some lovely villages to get through to the site . Lots of space to pitch up and we used the left side on first visit and Serviced pitches next time. The site is well managed Great Wardens easy check in good toilet block which was never busy even with covid shut down rules. Site was quiet at night and its an easy 10 minute stroll n Hawes where you will find a few places to drink eat shop . We also had an easy 20 minute walk through fields along a part of the Penine Way to the village of Hardraw . Its a very easy walk on road for 5 mins then across fields ( Not muddy Not hilly A Few gates really lovely walk so dont miss it) Make sure you call in the Green Dragon Inn for a pnt which is an amazing olde world pub just taken over recently by new landlord . Real Ale hot spot and serves meals after 5.30 ish . On Site TV is good if you use the booster plug in at the electric hook up point. Phones and internet good ... Getting there..Very worth a visit and decent road from the A1 watch out for the RIGHT turn into the station road just as you come into town... which comes up quickly and im sure you will enjoy this " Yorkshire Gem "
Lovely site in a beautiful area .
We had 4 nights here and it was too short as always. Others have complained about the facilities being closed for several hours, but let's not forget we're still in a pandemic, and we do have our own facilities we can use safely. The daog walk field is outstanding, such a pleasure. Hawes is in a fabulous landscape, try the Butter Tubs pass to Muker, the Wenslydale Creamery, red squirrel viewing at Snaizeholme, Ribblehead Viaduct and Ingleborough is a fabulous walk even if you have to drive to get there. Had a lovely meal in The Crown in Hawes, a town that has most things you might need on holiday! We will be back!
Wonderful Site
We had 3 nights here and I wish it was longer
The site is in a wonderful position and the little town of Hawes has everything you want.
We will definitely be going back.
You have to visit the waterfall and have a wee something in the green dragon
Great staff
All staff very helpfull and pleasant, Claire did a great job booking us in very proffessional and efficient.
Great site.
Other members complaining about the toilet block shut for the length of time that it is, just rember we are still in a pandemic. The wardens jobs list will have changed the way that they have to do the toilet blocks and everything else, so have some patience and use your own factitilites if needed.
As for farm yard noises, you are in the country live with it, or book a hotel.
Well done wardens for keeping the site open and safe, cannot wait to come back.
The epitome of excellence
We stayed for 2 nights recently (it has to be said with some trepidation..) as new members to the club we have encountered a degree of snobbery & aloofness at some club locations so far - in particular from more established members & some “jobsworth” employees at certain locations…….
However, this site & this team in particular restored ALL of our faith in joining the club this last year - and furthermore that the club is forward thinking in adopting changes to facilitate a new emerging membership that have previously sought camping experiences elsewhere with less “Rules & Regulations”
The site staf we’re all SUPERB - warm, friendly, efficient & the epitome of professionalism….
The dog walk field was the best on site dog walking facility I have seen on ANY campsite in Europe in over 35 years of camping & the location to town (a short stroll for an incredibly good value Sunday Roast at the Fountain hotel) the stunning surroundings & FANTASTIC staff delivering exceptional standards throughout mean we cannot wait to revisit ASAP. The whole stay was a highlight of our recent tour of the North east & North Yorkshire … see you again soon hopefully team Hawes….🙌🏼✊🏼🙌🏼👌🏼
A little more "Convenience" please
Lovely location with lots to do nearby Simonstone Hotel was especially delightful for lunch.Farmyard smells are present but - hey it's the countryside - and you very quickly forget they are there.
Not sure if there is a staff resources issue, because I can echo other reviews that mentioned the lack of grass cutting and replenishment of hand gel dispensers, but the real inconvenience is the fact that the toilet block is completely closed from 9:45 to Noon - at which time you are supposed to have left the site. There is no staggering between male and female opening times and no alternate facilities. When you have a long drive in front of you - this really isn't very helpful.

Lovely site in a lovely setting.
A lovely site with stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales. Efficient and friendly check in. Site facilities are first class, clean and well maintained. Hawes is a lovely town and easily accessed on foot. It was pleasing to see some independent shops thriving. Hawes provides plenty of tea shops and pubs/restaurants to cater for all needs. The food at the White Hart was excellent. A walk across the fields to Hawdraw is a must just to sample the delights of The Green Dragon Inn. Inside you feel you have travelled back in time to a different age! The roads around Hawes are quite narrow in places (including A roads) so driving large motorhomes around does need some care. We chose to walk everywhere!
Superb Location
We only managed to get a couple of days at this wonderful site but we can't wait to go back.
It has everything we need on a site and benefits from being a short walk to the local village and excellent surrounding walks.
Could do better
Wonderful location in the Yorkshire Dale's with an easy walk into Hawes, magnificent views from some pitches. Spotless facilities block but have to agree with other comments about closing all toilets at the same time. Shame they can't leave the facilities door open to avoid you having to touch them but I assume they are worried about passing walkers using them. Also found hand sanitisers empty at several of the service pionts. They appear to be not cutting the grass at the moment but the wildflowers did look pretty. We were unlucky enough to be situated at the bottom of the site Close to the farm, very smelly at times and noisy with tractors when we arrived but it did get better. Also the WiFi is advertised as Gold but we found it to be very slow and constantly dropping out. Moved onto River Breamish afterwards and so much better. Poor TV signal even on the bollard. All minor points but the difference between four and five stars.
Shame as it's a stunning location.
Some people.
Spent 4 nights at hawes, great site professional wardens, previous comments have mentioned closure of disabled toilet when cleaning other toilets, I have a disability but can manage to use the loo in my caravan so I don't see why others cannot do the same. One disappointment was a lady who appeared to be filling up a bottle of hand sanitizer from one of the club's wall mounted dispensers.
