Mixed feelings

Spent one week at the site. (7-14 August). Our first time at the Yarmouth site, the staff were quick and helpful, and with site map in hand found a nice pitch. There were a couple of race days on our stay , but no bother. ( you do need a pass on the race days to get in and out the site). The bus stop is just over the road from the main entrance,( no 8and4 bus) will take you to the centre of Yarmouth a Caister . We found a couple of shops on the housing estate, but did have to ask the locals , they are off the main road. The fish and chip van should have been on site wed and Sat but both days were cancelled our week. The spoiler for us was when 3 or 4 dogs were left in a caravan and apart from non stop yapping ,they somehow escaped running round the site. They were rounded up by the wardens and other campers and had to be barracaded in the van till the owners turned up. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and in the future would return.

What a Welcome

Wonderful wardens who went the extra mile for us. Young inexperienced caravaners were going to "borrow" our van with their baby for a few days. The wardens were wonderful and bent over backwards to ensure their stay was uneventful and enjoyable. The site and indeed Great Yarmouth not our normal choice of site but we were plea scantly surprised at how quiet it was and how clean and tidy it was kept. Youngsters enjoyed the area as lots to do including taking 6months old baby to Sea Life, Africa Live etc. all within easy reach by car. Only criticism from them and us was the expensive parking in Great Yarmouth with no concessions for blue badges, so beware and budget for this. However a pleasant surprise for us. Loved Gorleston, not so commercialised.

ok but needs an adult omly section

I booked this as there was a scooter rally at same time on the racecourse grounds and we could listen to live bands. I found this site too busy with kids and their bikes. Adults pay alot for motorhomes and caravans and dont want kids going round and round on their bikes. Parents should be more responsible. With this in mind its about time there was an adult only section. After all its the adults that fund the club.the location is ok but the walk from the site to the beach is along a main road next to an estate. Not really what we want on holiday. The facilities were good. Showers and toilets clean.

First timers

The staff are very good ,facilities are very clean mostly, the beach is a good 15 minute walk,as are the nearest shops , some items available on site but not many, enjoyed the site mostly but the ground staff for the course started as early as 6 am , then there were the ambulance sirens seemingly every half hour, don't know if hospital was nearby ,also there were frequent planes overhead , Thursday morning there was a very low and loud jet circling for about 20 mins , another pain was the road passing the site ,very busy from about 7 am and after 11 pm , small area for dog walking needs watching as some owners did not clean up after their dogs, as first timers we were not sure what to expect but we can't wait to go away in our caravan again but unsure if it will be here .

SURPRISINGLY PLEASANT

Very helpful Staff who do their utmost to make your stay at this Club Site a good experience. We agree with previous comments about Dogs and Owners of some, and hope the Club will do more to rectify this problem. Buses into G.Yarmouth stop on road opposite Club entrance. As well as visiting the Beach, you can take a walk in Bure Park and see Bure River - turn right out of Club entrance, down to traffic lights, and cross over Main Road. Papers can be bought at the Garage on Main Road which is a Spar Shop.

Great location BUT .... not particularly good ground or pitch quality.

An excellent location for the race course, pitches are in the centre of the course, unfortunately due to lack of information when booking we missed the actual racing. An ok welcome, could have had more info offered. The overall pitches are not a great quality, the grass is poor and it seems a little crowded in that the next pitch seems too close. My biggest problem was with dogs .... no separate walking area so dogs go to the toilet on or near your pitch , not good. The club should ALWAYS provide an area for walking a dog as how ever good the owners are they cannot remove all the issue and of course if a dog urinates on a pitch that cannot be removed. This is an issue not just here but also elsewhere so please can the club begin to address this dog walking issue.

Good site but will not return to Great Yarmouth

Site itself was pretty good inside the Great Yarmouth racecourse. Would have been interesting on race day. All pitches were grass. Witnessed one van near to us let out 2 labrador dogs early in the morning onto the pitches to do their business. Then the lady owner came out in her dressing gown to usher them back to the van without attempting to clean up after them!! It is a disgrace especially as there were children around playing on the grass. We cycled into Great Yarmouth but were not impressed with the resort - I would describe it as the land that time forgot (delapidated buildings desperately needing some TLC). Glad we only stayed one night. We will never return to this resort as it has nothing to attract us to it, although it was in fact packed out with tourists on a Sunday afternoon. So some people must like it.

Hated it

Unfortunately we must be in the minority but vehicles parked on wrong side of peg making it difficult to get in and out. Dogs lose everywhere and one parked next to us was allowed to mess all day and picked up once a day by owner. 4 nights Never again .

Short Stay in June 2017

We stayed here for 5 nights early June and had a lovely time. The staff are friendly and very welcoming. The site is clean and well maintained and the facilities are spotless. We weren't there for any of the race meetings but I can imagine it would be a great place to be. There is easy access to the buses into Great Yarmouth and for those a bit more energetic it is not too far to walk. We found a very nice pub halfway along the road opposite the site which served a fantastic Sunday lunch at a very reasonable price. It is advisable to pre-book though as it gets very busy. We got lucky. Would definitely stay here again.
