Great Location

Met by excellent Wardens, gave us some great details on what was happening on site (dog owners, and change of pitch numbers). Toilets always clean and tidy as with the rest of the site. Have used this site many times before. Easy to get into Yarmouth itself, bus just outside the site, or take the land train from Seashore site, or have a lovely 20-30 min stroll along the front. Great for families, and the couple like we are. Loads of stuff to do from Adventure Golf, shopping and the odd pub to pop into. The Troll Cart in Yarmouth having a well worth 3.5m revamp, is now bright and airy. Will be visiting again, just need to work out when.

A winning bet

The Wardens keep this site spic and span. The new toilet block (unusual for a racecourse site) was shining clean when we visited. A credit to the Wardens. An all grass site this should not put off those that prefer hard standing as the going is firm and level. Our visit coincided with a race meeting, an added interest and most enjoyable despite the cold snap (May). There is some safe cycling for those that wish it, to Great Yarmouth and to Caister on Sea. Great Yarmouth is a candy floss and ice cream sort of place, if that is what you like. You'll need to put your hand in your pocket to entertain the kids? A regular 'bus service runs from near to the site entrance. Caister is much smaller with less in the way of entertainment. The independent lifeboat station is worth a visit and your support, while The Ship Inn, Caister, serves very good food in a very pleasant environment. The beach looked good but we didn't venture onto it this time. Our first visit and hopefully not our last.

Excellant

Another lovely stay at this site, staff are lovely and very hardworking. Facilities are kept in tip top condition, spotlessly clean. Close to beach with lovely walks along prom right into Yarmouth, don't understand issue regarding dogs, I have a dog and within 5 minutes there is plenty of room for dogs to run free along the fens, it's not wardens fault if dog owners flout the site rules. This site is one we have visited before and will not hesitate to come back again. THANK YOU for making this site so good

First class wardens

Recently stayed here on seasonal pitch , we were very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of Shaun and Billie. All facilities are first class and immaculate. Unfortunately wardens are in a doubtful position regarding irresponsible dog owners, daily we saw owners walking their pets around the edge of site and thru pitches regardless off the fact these places when occupied are someone’s living area. Also at night once dark some owners sneakily allow dogs free to toilet. There is mention of no dog walk, but owners are welcome to walk their pet around the large grass area near reception and lets b honest the sea front is only a few minutes away and there is a long walk there. I know most owners say -oh I always clean up - but regularly we saw dog mess on pitches. It’s a difficult issue and I think the office should be stricter and not come down on the wardens if they try to improve the situation. Definite rules need to be in place along with the use of correct dog leads not the ones where the dog is able to walk on a considerable distance in front. I don’t understand the issue it’s quite ok for sites to say adults only but considered offensive to say responsible dog owners only. Finally no I am not a person who dislikes dogs my family own three dog boarding businesses, a grooming parlour and breed six different breeds of dogs, also two professional dog training companies. I would not hesitate to return here it’s location is first class and an excellent bus service. Keep up the good work wardens.

Irresponsible Dog Owners

We have visited this site many times and have enjoyed our stays. On this occasion we were told of a change of policy regarding dog walking on site (which not only applies to this site, apparently); it being no longer allowed. This being due to some owners not clearing up after their dogs' calls of nature. These selfish people ruin the image of the majority, who are responsible, and lead to this type of policy change. The rating is not for the site but for those dog owners who don't clear up. I would like to see those people challenged and have their membership suspended.

Ideal location for family, couples and solo holidays

Just recently returned from a weeks stay in Great Yarmouth with our motorhome. A very warm welcome by Billie and Sean. Although the first couple of days were a complete washout, we still managed to dodge the torrential showers and get out and about. Although at most grass standing sites there would have potentially being a problem with getting stuck, bearing in mind the amount of rain that fell, the Yarmouth site has excellent drainage due to the amount of sand based in the ground, so do not be put off by bad weather. It started to clear up as the week progressed, we are keen walkers and users of public transport. So a 35 min walk to the train station for a day trip into Norwich was ideal for us. There is a bus stop right outside the race course perimeter, so getting into the centre of Yarmouth and its attractions is pretty straightforward. If like us you were looking for something a bit different, try the Yarmouth stadium, only a 20 min walk towards Caister, we attended the stock car racing on the Sunday night, then returned on the Thursday for greyhound racing. Both activities were both new to us, however both events were great fun and good value for money. Both events I would suggest would suit all families with small children or like us as couples. Although not professional gamblers we did make a profit at the greyhound racing. Overall a very pleasant stay and will have no hesitation in returning. A very clean site in a very good location.

Very pleasant site

Never having been to Great Yarmouth before, we had no expectations. The site was very easy to find and to access, the wardens were extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful, the facilities were superb, all the pitches are on grass but the drainage was good and so there were no problems (it rained a lot whilst we were there, so I can guarantee there were no problems). I don't know how family friendly the site is because it was just my wife and myself, but there were younger families around and they all seemed happy (except for the rain). We caught the bus into Great Yarmouth one day, walked in the next two days (by different routes each time). The bus stop was next to the site, the walks were not far at all (a mile or so). The town is really interesting and we had a good time. The site was perfect for us and I'd recommend it.

poor.

There is an "arc " of club sites we have been to in this neck of the country stretching from seacroft at cromer , ludham site , the racecourse site , to the club site at kessingland and i would say this one is the poorest. Good location for a walk into Yarmouth itself , and to be fair the toilet block is spotless as you would expect from a club site but the pitches are poor , on a par with what you would get at any small independent site. There is a problem with electric hook up at pitches 80/81/82 , with two hook up points for three pitches , we were in pitch 82 and were disconnected when someone else pulled up to go into pitch 81 , and ended up being hooked up at pitch 85. To do this the warden had to add an extension lead onto our standard size hook up cable , which he didnt seem happy about. Been to club sites all over uk over the last 12 years or so , ( cancelled and renewed my membership in that time) and to be honest wouldnt go back to the yarmouth site. Second time of visiting the yarmouth site and it doesnt get any better.
